You can request the source code for most software that was developed for the government. They have the right to refuse, but must give a reason.
The software in the drunk detecter is owned by the company, the gov buys the detecter not the source code.
It would be a bad precident for all if the court were to force the company to show the source code. Could they not just TEST the deteter to show it is accurate?
My only concern is with the Oracle company itself. The last time I had to deal with them I found them to be a bunch of sleaze-balls. Every bit as bad as MS.
Like the DB, but don't trust the company.
Wait, isn't it illegal for the fed to spy on it's citizens? Won't they
need to get a court order to wire tap even with VoIP? And how would
that work in a chat room where lots of good citizens are talking?
But do the libraries have the right to index the books they have? Isn't this just a book index based on the content not just the title and author name?
Google only shows the page with the match with copyrighted material, not the whole book. They also give a link to buy the book. It is stupid for the book guilde to sue google as this service can only increase sales.
%60 of systems seem to be binary or trinary, not good for life to develope. Planets would need to be in the "goldylocks" zone where water is liquid much of the time. And there are about 5-6 other factors that would limit development of life elsewhere. There will still be a lot of good planets, but not anywhere near as many as you suggest.
I have only played Secret of Monkey Island in your
list. It was a great game, but I think the puzzles
in Rivin were much, much better, so I will have to
disagree with you.
Fleury sounds like a jerk. I like JBoss, but maybe someone should create a copy project and get the source out of his hands. Charging for the documentation ticked off a number of people and this sort of noise will scare off more.
5 different conversations with 5 people?
It would be a rare individual that could do that well. Let me just mention the concept of the quality of the conversations here.
> in the end, they just want to keep running their country their way
No, not backed up by the facts. I would have to label this "spin" (ie BS). And whats with the AC?
It's the magnitude of the nuclear winter they
seem to be questioning, not the impact itself.
If it did not kill off the bees then how could it have been responsible for killing the dinosaurs?
Asthma, maybe?
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't China one of the more belligerent nations on the planet? They have had military incidents with every one of their neighbor at one time or other. China is nobody's good thing. Why don't you pick on them for a while.

See, this is what the problem is all about. The idea behind this sentence fragment is just wrong. This is one reason the dark ages are called dark (ie: no progress).
Sure, why not? You think people have changed that much in 18K years? And they are calling them hominid, which means they are at least as human as the [insert your favorite group name here]

And that would be different how?
Guess it depends on your definition of best.
No, outside of a very small community, they never did. Mainly because it was all very old school (ie: middle ages).
How tall did you say you were?
I get jokes
Can't be too bad if you could not stop playing it even at work.

What are these strange words you speak? I do not understand you.
