>>>There are a lot of cool things on the Android app market. The only thing I really wish for that isn't present is a decent fantasy RPG.
Who needs native games, when you have a suite of amazing emulators! SNesoid for Super Nintendo (ff 2 & 3, Zelda, Super Mario RPG), Gensoid for Sega Genesis/Master System (Phantasy Star 2 &3), and Nesnoid for Nintendo (...more games then you can imagine...)
If you live in the north-east Verizon is the only carrier to provide "good" coverage. I have used AT&T and T-Mobile. I only pay $73/month for my Verizon Droid (450 min, of which I use maybe 100; 200 text; Unlimited Data). This is comparable to my iPhone which I paid $86/month but I can actually use my Droid as a phone and Actually have the internet in my pocket, vs. the iPhone which was a bad phone when it got service and only really had the internet available in cities or near wifi.
What advances in Cellphones? A little faster, a little smaller, a camera, maybe a 'full' keyboard for texting.
I'd argue that cellphones have really started to make the just from mobile phone to personal mobile computer. Every year it becomes easier to use them to truely intergrate the online world into our personal life. They are becoming the Tricorder or Hitchhikers Guide. The next few years the features of the high end phone will become common for all users. Data will be a standard addition to every cell phone plan.
I think these generally compare with the cars you listed. In general our cars are quite a bit heavier then you'd think. The weight is in the frame of the car and has metal to move the force of accidents around the passenger compartment, and to adsorb the force of impacts by crumpling. All of the plastic and fiberglass is in the exterior panels which have never been structural. Thanks to technology gained in recent years, people walk away from pretty impressive collisions in modern cars. The numbers show us that our cars are many times safer today then they were back in the day.
They are better for doing work on yourself. I am nut sure that I believe that your classics can do better on gas-mileage versus a high-gas-mileage hybrid. The reason that they get such gas-mileage is that they are build with lighter materials then modern cars. This means that they do not stand up to impacts the same way that a modern car does. You are essentially driving a car that will seriously maim or kill you in a serious accident. I am not saying that classic cars are bad, I seriously want a late model Corvair, but I have no illusions that it is a "safe" car; but it is no more dangerous then anything else on the road at that time.
Enjoy your classics, they are beautiful cars that are fun to work on and drive; but don't believe that they are better then modern cars as a daily driver.
>Here's a simple thought experiment: If Evolution is false, what created swine flu? The only other possible explanation is that God is a dick, and I don't believe that.
Actually if you are referring to the biblical God, how can you not believe that he is an enormous dick. What do you call and entity that destroys everything on earth, sans one couple of each species? What do you call an entity that turns a woman into a pillar of salt for looking back at the city where she lived as it is being destroyed? What do you call an entity that punishes a rapist by requiring that he pay the father to marry the victim. I call him God.
Closing the Lid to put the Laptop to sleep is present in all modern Mac Laptops. There is two reasons as far as I know. 1) Closing the lid and grabbing the laptop is a very natural action. It helps preserve battery life. 2) Having the lid open helps the laptop dissipate heat; heat that trapped might damage the screen.
Actually the H3 is a move in the right direction...I hate soccer mom hummers; but at least they are getting smaller with each number. I might even be interested in a H8 or H9.
This is what I have been saying or some time now. I work at a video rental store and I can tell you that there were horrible movies made in any decade. My beliefe is not that the rate at which bad films are being made is increasing; but rather that we only remeber the good films from the past. Since we remeber the films that really touched us; and forget those that were medicore. it seems that more bad films are being made today. I bet that in ten years we will be still talking about batman but nobody will remeber cinderella story
I have had Big-Rigs decide to move into the lane I amin while I am passing them...very scary!!! If there are cars behind me (often the case), accelerating is the best option.
I know for a fact that Hollywood Video carries Unrated films. The location where I work carries Showgirls, Crash (the one about people having sex whle they crash cars), and the movie KIDS (unrated but caused a stir when released)
heh...you're all wron this http://imdb.com/title/tt0332348/ is the worst movie of all time (released in any manner) I have seen high school film projects of better quality ( actulally I don't think I have seen high school film projects that are much worse then this)..try to find it and behold it's awfulness

Back in his early days, filming Bad Taste, Peter jackson (of LoTR fame) built a $15 steadicam. The efect was very good in the film (well good for the obvious budget of the film). I wounder how similar this design is to the one he used back then.
I like the key-board shortcuts far better then highlingt to copy, middle click to paste. For one thing Highlight to copy removes my ability to replace a selection of text with the text in my clip board. Maybe I am missing a trick here; like hitting cntrl or something...but if there is a trick; it is not natral. I am a keyboard user, and I will often use shift+arrow to hightlight text and then hit cntrl+c to copy, alt+tab to the app, then shift+arrow to hightlight the text i don't like then cntrl+V to replace it with the new text.
Latin Grammer Nazi's...Now I can't stop thinking about John Clease (sp?) correcting the grammer/spelling of the rebel painting on the walls in Monty Pythons The Life of Brian...if I weren't on my way to sleep I would look up the quote.
Well I installed debian off of knoppix...so I have tons of other services running...I don't need appache on my laptop! It was easyer to install anouter operating system (I wanted to try gentoo). I was able to do this while running XFCE4 in Debian. So I was able to still write my paper and browse trhe web while compiling...so no big loss.

Lynx!, use elinks..or links2; just so much nicer. Also; you might want to give X a wril...on my 233 mmx; x is decently responcive. If you want a fully usable desktop on those specs blow 20 bucks and buy BeOS (look at www.bebits.com; there is a link on the right hand side)
Impresivly I am installing gentoo on this laptop; a pentium 233 mmx. Debian is too slow to boot (knoppix install because I was frustrated; and am using that as my host to install gentoo off of). The boot strapping only took 19 hours and emerge system took 15 or so. I know it's a long time...but I can't stand a slow system. I would stay in BeOS (the primary os for the laptop) byt I want to do some development and papers...so I need linux and open office (it only takes a minute or so to load)...the joys of old computers.
Since the late 70's or so Lotus and toyota have been friends (I think is has to do with the fact they don't compete for the same market at all, just my opinion) Toyota gave lotus an engine because lotuses (loti?) had reliability problems, and toyota thought it would be cool to make a fun little commuter car that was mid engined; lotus sent there guy to help with design and tuning. The relationship still is there today, lotus's new espite (don't yell at me if it is a different e named car) in america will use a tuned celica engine.
I know last sumer they didn't have there laptop on their web site but it was at best buy...maybe it is some deal with best but to give them all of the sales of there new products
