Good luck.. they (the politicians) will mostly complain about THEIR privacy, citing matters of national security. The people's privacy will always be watched in some way or another due to the need of "a general well-being".
I would say that most likely, for the vast majority of HTML pages, the metadata is bigger or at least comparable to the page itself. So it's probably a lot more than 10TB, but still, looking at the figure, it's not really much in terms of "mass".
Absolutely right you are, but we've seen too many good ideas like this one go down the "it's supposed to make money" drain. To end that stand-off, my bet is that they'll take some other route.
The problem with the supposed "low-margin innovations" would be that investors would, in my view, be kind of "afraid" to put money into them. On the other hand, if they are successful, they may be more successful than the "original plan" had intended.
I'm all for free knowledge, however, this whole idea seems to be a bit too much in the "wishful thinking" camp.
No-no!. I *ain't* playing with my grandma! Nor my grandfather, for that matter

And one of the things that I find annoying is that every real-time strategy game is a "Command and Conquer clone", instead of a Dune II clone, which many people might remember as the first RTS of the type, and which incidentally was made by Westwood as well.
Why shouldn't they expect to get back return on their property?
I'm sorry, but I don't really see where "they" is valid if you're a citizen of said country and have the same rights to public property as anyone else.
if everyone would agree on something like this it would definitely reduce the spam (among other things)
Yeah, "if everyone would agree", right? Well, if everyone agreed on basic standards like valid SMTP headers, we wouldn't be talking about this in the first place...
Everyone's agreement would make the world a great place. Guess why it's so fucked up now:)
Except for their peripherals department, which makes very good mice, keyboards, and cool joysticks. Give credit where it's due. (note: the x-box controller does NOT fit into the above category:op )
This is all very fine and dandy, but it will be expensive as hell and almost useless to "the rest of us" if the cartridges aren't standard across the different manufacturers... we all know what happens to vendor-specific standards...
Note: (unless it's a $40bil megalomaniacal company:)
Talk about being sucked into a void, starting by your hand...

You're nuts if you use auto-global variables in PHP like that.
Use $_GET,$_POST,$_COOKIE,$_SESSION, etc. They're your friends. No more URL-hacking fun.

Dr Jefferson plans to present his program to the World Economic Forum in January.
... and maybe get laughed off the 'stage' by all the money-making politicians/whatever, most likely. They want ways to make money, bear no illusions.

I presume you're joking, right?... I mean, given the amount of people that use Macs as webservers, why bother trying to find exploits in them? :)
Easy answer here... use Real Alternative. Basically, it's a package with the Real codecs, which you can then use with your favourite media player.
If you're going to click there, you might as well pick up QT Alternative on the same page. Same as above, but for QuickTime.

Well for Fred's sake, if the threat of being blacklisted hasn't worked, then how the hell "attempting to educate them" will?
