There was a similar comment in mIRC a few years ago, I haven't used mIRC for years and don't know if it's still there. Once you got to the place where you edited the version replied out, it sayed something along the lines of "editing your version I see;):
the main thing that has kept me with firefox (even though it seems to crash every 3-5 days) is the fact that the tabs in Opera don't resize. With firefox, I can open 25+ tabs with absolutely no problem. With Opera, I can only open about 5 tabs before it makes a new row, which I find extremely annoying. Anyone know of a way to make the tabs resize to a smaller size instead of creating a new row?
Interesting way to look at it. I think this would also play nice with string theory, which requires quite a few additional dimensions.
Just to clarify, when one of two possible paths is chosen, does the other path cease to exist? Or are you saying that "reality" (for lack of a better word) branches out into another reality everytime a path is chosen? (e.g. bob chooses to eat at mcdonalds instead of crispers and dies of a heart attack. When bob chooses to eat at mcdonalds, another "reality" is created where bob chooses to eat at crispers and doesn't die of a heart attck.) The second would be difficult to reconcile with some world religions, which is interesting.
Does this theory have a name? I would be interested to see what others say about it.
Not completely true, there's also X-Develop. It's cross platform, has a GUI designer which works with both Windows.Forms and GTK, and costs less than VS.
Monodevelop is also coming along nicely. It's not perfect, but it's improving rapidly.
You really can't cut them off from the internet and expect them to learn to program. Even if you buy them books on whatever language they're learning, they will still need google to look up questions once they get more advanced. I see the internet as a necessary extension of a computer, instead of stopping their internet usage completely, why not just monitor it? If they spend too much time on instant messaging/irc/game websites, tell them that you will have to limit their usage if they continue to visit these websites so much. You're the parent, if they don't listen to you it's your responsibility to punish them.
actually, they look entertaining. a hardcore gamer might not want to play them, but for casual gamers, they look like they could be quite fun (if they're done properly).
he said Windows performance was better.. it might be - if you have all of the Linux daemons in your distro turned on and have dma and all the hdparm tweaks set to their worst settings. and that's a case of bad administration. there is no fucking way that windows could be faster on identical hardware if Linux is set up properly and the correct modules for the hardware are loaded.
good thing you posted this as AC, otherwise everyone would know that you are either: a) a liar, and a bad one at that b) woefully ignorant in the area of Linux administration
even if it's not, fuck them, there's nothing immoral about it. Or you could do it the other way around and emulate the manufacturer's server for the player.
orthodox ones do, apparently this christian needs to be re-educated. He can have a meeting with the local priest after he's done molesting a little boy.
How would you recommend learning to build the stuff you talk about? I would prefer a book, but other mediums are acceptable if there aren't any decent books for that type of thing..
Most of the things you want documentation on are the same for all Linux distributions, Gentoo has a good amount of Gentoo-specific docs, but there's no reason a user can't use generic docs to accomplish anything you listed above.
I don't agree. Why is this better than simply sending the patches on to the Linux kernel developers, and developing your own distribution? That way it would cause no more fragmentation than distributions already do, and they would get a chance to show the rest of the GNU/Linux crowd that their config-management and desktop enviroment ideas really are useful.
Let me see, it's a Linux kernel (modified maybe), with the latest beta version of a predominantly GNU/Linux app: QT. Oh, and they're trying to add a nice Desktop Enviroment, based on QT. Basically, this is a Linux distribution with it's own desktop enviroment and a different config file system that's trying to pose as a brand new OS.
Could someone please explain to me why it wouldn't be better to submit the kernel patches to the Linux devs and just make a distribution that uses Elektra? Calling it a new OS only causes fragmentation, IMHO.
Umm, no, Mr Coward. It's called Gentoo. Install with Anaconda, type emerge mythtv. You now have MythTv, wasn't that hard? Use genkernel to compile your kernel if you're lazy, and now you have the drivers for your mpeg card and all that fun stuff.
Oh, wait, there's a new version of MythTV?! And you also want to upgrade the other programs just for the hell of it?! It's called "emerge sync && emerge -uDv world". Now your system is completely up to date. Now try and tell me that's hard.
can't gnomemeeting communicate with netmeeting clients?
er, yes I realize this
it was in the mIRC binary, I'm still not sure how you read that and thought I was referring to a network

perhaps you could recommend a kernel debugger for him

I doubt it's a video card problem.
welcome to windows
this poor bejamin guy is going to be in jail for quite a long time with all the arrests he's been getting lately.

Probably because emerge -u system is the wrong way to do it.
Try emerge -uD system.

I use Gentoo GNU/Linux and fluxbox as a WM. Works great.
..her family prayed. /me rolls eyes
In all seriousness though, I don't get the comparison. What does the NGage have in common with the DS at all?
They both.. er.. play games.
