How is one random user with one specific machine with something working moderated "Informative"? Suspend doesn't work on my Inspiron 6000.... so uh, I cancel you out? Not to mention that the latest Ubuntu boots and responds much slower than either XP or Win7beta on _this_ machine... but one machine tells you nothing doesn't it?
Being 100 years old doesn't have much to do with having a neutral wire or not... what you have going on is switch loops, where a hot leg is sent to the switch, then sent back to the light. Since you're only switching hot, there's no neutral needed... this is valid even in the most recent NEC, so there's no bringing it up to code. Using switch loops is still very much alive today.
Now, snaking a separate wire in the wall to the switch certainly is NOT code and isn't really a good idea... it's better to run a 3 conductor cable (14/3, 12/3, etc) to the switch from the light, use the red & black for the switched leg, and then you have a white wire for the neutral to power the Insteon switch. Cap off the old wires on both ends and be done with it.
On what auhority do you have information that Santa lives at the geographic north pole and not the magnetic?
And, more seriously, on what basis does the geographic north pole have to be called 'North' if the poles reverse? If the magnetic north pole switches hemespheres, is the northern hemisphere still the northern hemisphere? Other than tradition, why would it still be?
Maybe they could change the firmware updater itself to randomly change the password, alternately ask the user for a password for the 'super' user. This might be acceptable if indeed it's a hardware flaw and there's no way to simply remove this super user from the system.

While I admit FF had great graphics, the animation was horrible.
The Pixar and Dreamworks stuff is way way way ahead animation wise. FF animation looked no better than the ingame characters in normal videogames with stiff faces, limited expressions, and non-fluid motion. FF seemed to me to be just fantastic textures on very basic animation.
This is bull for a lot of reasons.
The first is by scaling your photo up to 720dpi, you're making it look more crappy. That 720dpi ink jet printer of yours can't make 720 exact color dots per inch, but one of only a few colors that your printer has ink for.
You're losing most of those pixels you interpolated up to and would probably have better quality prints at 360dpi, or even 180dpi, since the printer can then make a colored pixel out of fixed color ink dots. Or your printer might even be smart enough to recognize this, and is internally downsampling your image that you spent time upsampling to.
Hah!
Why was this marked insightful? Apparently the poster doesn't understand reading comprehention that well.
It doesn't say it's slow because of the size of the drive. It says the machine is slow because of the hard drive, which happens to be a tiny 3GB, and happens to be recycled from a notebook.
If the poster understood PC and particularly notebook hardware, the drives are never as fast as their PC counterparts because they generally all spin slower, which is certain to be the case here. That will certainly make your PC slow.
I'm not using it for anything yet. It's just cut and hanging in the wall behind the jack.
The only thing I've thought of to use it for is maybe audio distribution.
I ran a 6-in-one cable in my house which is two cat5e, two coax, and two fiber optic bundled into one cable. The super fat stiff cable is also really eash to push up through wall cavities, but it could be difficult to fish through tight corners though. I highly recommend this stuff as it makes it really easy to get connectivity anywhere, and lots of it. A 500ft role did my 2800sqft house to a central wiring closet in the basement just fine. The jacks are a 6 in one faceplate that you snap the different connectors into.
If they're selling off their assets (which are all their product lines) to repay debts, what would be left to continue to operate? They'd have nothing to sell.
I was under the impression, at least a year ago, that ReplayTV wasn't subscription based, rather the higher price of the units reflected what was equal to a lifetime subscription.
A lot of people hate it. That's evidenced by all the aftermarket mods (some particularly good) to add light to it. I didn't feel it was necessary to voice that side of the argument since it is of course well known, and not necessarily the side that I'm on.
I'm glad to see that Nintendo has added a backlight and has listened to it's customers wants/needs. Now I'm not too excited about the folding aspect of the new one, since it ruins the simplicity of the orginal GB. But now there's options out there for everyone...
One big selling point of the GameBoy has always been long battery life. Lighted screens eat battery life.
Therefore Nintendo tried to make a screen that made the most of ambient light rather than to backlight it. I know of a lot of folks that appreciated that, and had no problems with the screen. My palm has a backlight, but I never turn the thing on... same with my TV's remote control. I'm not willing to lose the battery life.
What do you do with your computer that you can't do-- better, in some instances-- in another way?
My Job.
Just for fun, try taking a week off from your computer(s). Go camping or something. You'd be surprised how little you miss it.
I'd miss my paycheck a lot.
I think you misheard him. What he really said was "I am the dethroned emperor of Japan. I have 40 million dollars I need to funnel out of the country. Please give me your account information and I will transfer it to you, then you can give me 30 million back. You dumb gullible fuck"

You shoulda put a picture of you naked in the reflection of the ornament. As a homage to the Ebay auctions of legend.
No furniture in the reflection on the ornament on the front of the table. Nice :)

Has anyone thought of his relocation???

Obviously you've never had one of those air plants you never have to water! Pulls moisture from the air...
(Hoping I don't sound stupid)

It must not be THAT clear to you, since you're posting as anonymous.

Man he stinks. Can't be within 10 feet of him.

The cable I have is made by CommScope and is on a 500' role. It's a little more than a 3/4" bundle and an orange jacket. There's lots of different places that sell it and similar with or without fiber, smarthome.com has it I know, but not sure if it's the best prices. The jacks are super easy to wire *IF* you have or invest in the right tools such as a quality wire cutter, punchdown tool, coax stripper & crimper, etc. I already had all these, but you're talking a good $150 for all the tools (if you want good ones to keep forever) The fiber I just cut and left in the wall for future use. I don't have tools to terminate it, nor have I thought of a use for it. If I had to pay for the cable I might not have gotton the kind with fiber in it.

The thing is, it's down downsampled to NTSC resolution anyways. You're not even getting 800x600 over SVHS.
Whoo boy, and that OS/2! What a whopper that was. And that whole MicroChannel thing. Wow!
