  9. Re:To what end? on Computerized Time Clocks Susceptible to 'Manager Attack' · · Score: 1

what? costomer service is nice, but when i am geting $6.70 an hour, i can really care less about the store, as the store and company do not care about me, the coustomers do not care about me, so why should I care about them? I quit working there because I was getting tired of not getting any breaks because we were too busy. every damn day, and we had less people working there than 4 months before that, but fewer people working, and busier at the same time means we had to do more work for the same amount and the owner made all the money.

I really do not see why everyone complains about McDonalds service, we give you your food, its warm, i say hello, have a bit of conversation if I have time, try to get you out as fast as possible without being rude, as you come to mcdonalds for speed, unless you come in anyways when you can see a line of cars snaking all the way around the building and into the road and complain about it, because, DAMN! i never noticed that there are people waiting.

I will not cheat the store, unless they cheat me, I do not hate the managers as people, or the owner as a person, but when it comes time to me vs. them, they are on the manager side, they try and keep things secret from me, they try and underpay. They do have pressure on them from coperate, so I distrust the coperate too. There is a very good reason there is a short turn-over time at McDonalds. We get treated like were are completely expendable, but are supposed to be for the store. I never Trusted the place, and was too much of a cynic, I somehow stayed there for 2 and a half years, but they hired people for as much as I made after 2 years, so I said fuck it, put in my 2 weeks the day before I was set to be gone for 2 weeks, waited 2 weeks, picked up last check. I do not think they ever cut my checks. They tended to schudle people for around 30 hours a week, and allowed hour swaping pending approval from management, so rarely did any of us kids get over 40 hours, and some of us were forgotten for weeks at a time. I dont ever eat fast food any more and I try and avoid chain resturants, their food is rarely better, I hate the fake atmosphere of the places, I shop at EBgames for games because I have made friends with the people who work there, or knew them before and I tend to hang out there, and there is no such thing as a non-chain store where I live that carries obscure games.

relating back to what wiener said. Attitude is normal, and when costumers come thru acting like snobs and making cracks at us, we just smile and evily say "I hope you ennjjoooy your big and tasty, we made it jusst for you" of couse we never EVER, have done anything to the food that was not to be done, as tainting peoples food is wrong morally, but there is nothing wrong with making them think there is, when they deserve it. People come in and try and lord over us, they do not treat us like human beings, they think they are better than us beacuse they may make more per hour, they assume that people at mcdonalds are stupid, we are not all stupid, except we work at McDonalds.

You skiped most of the damn idea in your quote there, thus changing the entire context of it to make a quick jab at the guy who makes your double quater pounder with cheese supersized fries and diet coke, please, do not upset the guys who make your food, as it can be hard to concentrate on making food properly and not accidently adding in some horrible posion when you are under stress and crying for being insulted.

I worked at McDonalds and the clock out repiets had each time you clocked in and out on them, so first clock in would be (9:00-13:00) for lunch then (13:30-17:00) for the night out. and a big XX:XX if you did not clock in. so I am a bit unsure how you can have your time changed in the middle of the day, as a extra clock-in and out would be noticeable, and I would have gone to the manager right then and there, fuck all the costomers outside and whatever, they can cook their own damn food.

  12. Re:How times do change... on Muscle Cars And Smokin' Chips · · Score: 5, Insightful

I know completely what you mean.
I have a auto tech class, and much of the talk seemed similar to computer moding/repair, like how most people do not anything about the car or pc, only pay attention to the idiot lights (a big window that pops up and says "dude, you got a fuxored pc") and never open up the inside.
But modding a car is much more difficult than a PC, as due to the fact it has much more parts that can be removed, as opposed to a pc where there are many parts, but are grouped in larger chunks (video card, motherboard, cpu) and once you figure out what is wrong, you either do a software fix, or replace it as fixing the hardware is probably extremely expensive for what you would need to do (fixing a single cell of bad ram), so it would just be cheaper to go buy a new stick of RAM.

Cars on the other hand have several systems, that keep subdividing, and have many removeable parts, as if a piston ring is faulty (think of it as a little bit of the cpu) you car will either not funtcion, or not work good, if it was a cpu, you would toss it, but in a car, you would take the time to trace it to a componet and replace it.

thus, I think overclocking is wanting to be like car modding, but just cannot get the outside respect of car modding. In the long run I think cpu modding is easier (a quick trip into BIOS and maybe 10 minutes of time), but in the long run could be much more difficult (getting tech to let you modify the chips themselfs to work better and other detail modding, even replacing circuits and building faster software). So, we are kind of the next hotrodders, thats why people have lan parties you know.
