Practically speaking, it would probably not. Since money is all uniform size, it is space-efficient to store. If you ran it through a chipper/shredder, you initially would have the shredded money take up more space, but you would be able to compress it more, eventially taking up less space.
I listen to Art Bell, but that doesn't make me a dummy. I take what he and his guests say with a big grain of salt, and realize that much of it simply can not be trusted or proven.
I do find it a fascinating show, though, whether I believe any of it or not. There was a relaly good who on a week or two ago when they were interviewing Kevin Mitnick. You just have to have the ability to seperate the fact from the fiction.
There is a natvie gnutella program called Aquisition that I have been trying as an alternative to limewire on os x. I like it much better, and it's much faster. you might want to check it out.

I find it a bit slow, but I consider my hardware marginal.
I have a 500MHz G3 iBook, 384MB RAM, OS X 10.2.
It is not really slow, but it is not as fast as my linux machine, a 750MHz Athlon, 640MB RAM, KDE3.
I have not yet gotten the oppertunity to use OS X on a faster machine, but I suspect on a G4 processor it would be much better. Even on my G3, it is not so slow it makes me puke, it could just be a little snappier with IE, Mozilla, and opening up a terminal.
while your idea is fine, i just think that would be too expensive and most people wouldn't buy it when they can "get by" with using a computer. that's what's holding your idea back.
and could you add AM reception, too? This is also what I want. I want to record some talk shows I like that I can't hear while I am working because of too much RF interference. I would be happy to record it (where i can get good recpetion) then listen to it the next day.
yeesus, is it that hard to decode ogg files? all you have to do is implement it!

Your (or people like you) money paid for Windows, but you don't exactly have access to that either. Yes, you can use it, but you can't verify it's not doing anything shady.
I think I would be the same way if I started such a revolution. I think its great that he can do whatever he wants. It's the users that choose whether or not to use it.
that;s odd how you and I differ. I use linux on my workstation at home and also have a laptop at home with OS X, and I would prefer to have linux on it most days instead of OS X.
There are a few days I love OS X, like when I am trying to view something I just can't on linux, or when I am video editing. I am glad I have the choice. I bought my laptop more on features per price that what OS it ran, and Apple had everything I wanted all in one package.(mainly built in modem, built in 802.11b, built in firewire, built in usb, and long battery life).
I think it's great that people prefer differnent OSes. The OS is just the tool to accomplish a job, some are better than others.
A serious alternative to X-Windows would be cool to at least play with the concept.
And I think an Apple PC would be cool. It would provide a little more flexibility, and probably a pretty big cost savings. You would have to use limited hardware, but still, things like processor speeds could vary widely.
I don't know what you are talking about. I only have a dual 3.7GHZ system with 2 gigs of RAM and it seems all right to me. It's not snappy, but I wouldn't call it slow.
It's already not commercial free. There are not as many commercial breaks as broadcast radio, but I think I heard 6 minutes/hour of commercials on some XM channels.

Dublin? They make Guinness in Dublin!!
(sorry, i just got a guinness keg at my house.

I meant marginal for OS X. not marginal for computing in general. sorry for the misunderstanding.

does it work? it would seem that the inside of a computer case is a horrible place for any radio, especially am. if it does work, what kind is it?

why not just put your phone on vibrate?
I personally want my phone to be a phone and my mp3 player to play mp3's. convergence creates bad interfaces or limited funcionality most of the time.
olbigatory comment about not decoding ogg files.

if anything to do with OS kernels gives you warm fuzzies, your geekhood far surpasses mine...
that is funny as shit. I hope people don't mod it down because they mistake humor for flamebait.

Just to add a little detail, it was in 1981. And yes, it was an ill-fated disaster.
No, my RPM-based distro is modern. Debian, let's be honest, has some quite old stuff (Stable, at least).
what;s wrong Debian guys... can't you just apt-get everything an it magically works?
my RPM-based distro installed everything for me, so I never had to worry about it.
actually, the NTSC fps is 29.97. You were close. But close only counts in with horseshoes and hand grenades.

I was only joking. I only wish I had a system like that. Truth be told, I have never used solaris on an x86. just on sparc hardware.
