In the mean time USA keeps increasing it's CO2 output. And just for countries that prefer to print tons of paper and run up their national debt into trillions of dollars there is an option to buy pollution credits from undeveloped countries instead of reducing own emissions.

So now try it, you can start like this: "*I* am going to write an interface so functional and beautiful that all the distros will fall down on their knees in awe and voluntarily pick it as the default one and all the hackers will see it as the holy grail of interfaces and abandon their own interface projects."

Completely serious, it's more beneficial to society to allow a skilled engineer to spend several months or more looking for a suitable job than have him deskill himself serving hamburgers, installing cables or doing tech support. If your country's s Supreme Court believes that it's ok to demolish local businesses to make place for Wallmart because it pays more taxes then it's also more beneficial to support a skilled person so he retains his skills and pays more taxes once he gets a suitable job. This especially true in most of the developed world where higher education is also payed for by the public.

He's right and you're wrong for getting on his ass because of his age. At 31 I can agree with everything he says. Western medicine's favourite game is inventing new and new deseases seemingly w/o end. Tomes and tomes are filled with obscure diagnoses. Among them psychiatric diagnosis stands out as a partucular example of pseudoscience. So homosexuality was a psychiatric disorder and now it is not, purged from the books. Why, political correctness. How can I even aproach these clowns seriously? Now you're supposed to pay regular visits to the shrine of modern medicine, have regular checkups, trust your doctor before your family, expect a chemical pill for every condtion. So I believe that thje symptoms of depression may be rel for some but they have to take responsibility for it themselves, something that is so lacking in modern America. Meditation and talking to your family and friends seem like good options.
