    How many think xbox mod chips should be legal, because just because they can be used for piracy, they have other legal uses?

    Now, how many think DRM should never be implemented, because it can be used to restrict what you can do with a CD you bought?

    The difference there is that DRM restricts your freedoms, the modchip does not.

    As soon as you remove the necessity to make backup copies, it will become illegal. The fact that they might be necessary is the only reason that we're still allowed to do it. Once the congresscritters realize that no significant part of their constituency cares about backing-up anymore, do you really think they'll keep resisting those record execs with big bags of money?

    Look, I know MS is greedy, but even they wouldn't copyright anything ending with a particular four letters. Just all words ending in "indows"

    Was when my Tribes 2 CD exploded inside the drive. It took me about half an hour, shaking the drive upside-down to get all this little shards out. The Drive still worked after that though.

    For about a month, anyway....
