Seriously though, I think Star Trek also made a similar mistake. It is sad the science in this book is on the same level. (On one episode I remember they had a "pulsar" that was a star that would go from dim to bright and back about once per second.)
They would have to agree to an expense account for buying Karma. I'm not cutting into my profits for a few extra points when... I've probably said too much.
I don't understand the need to go off on how a technology is "Orwellian." (First off actually learn what the book is about before stating everything is out of 1984) This technology is not bad. It has potentially bad uses, but that doesn't matter. Complain when those bad uses actually occur (they probably won't). The government is not going to say, "Look the guy from Apple computers made this thing... time to put it on everyone in the country without them knowing about it."
I am aware that/. does not speak with one voice, but the general values expressed by its members are odd. If it is something that can be used for violating privacy (but hasn't) it is feared, but if something is used for piracy ALOT, it should be considered good regardless of the illegal nature of its use because it has non-infringing uses.
By the way, children have no right to privacy from their parents.

He doesn't need to have his handheld. He is the handheld President because he is small enough to hold in your hands. It is really great for when a full-sized Sony president just won't fit in your luggage.
I could settle this would standards mess with $200

I could settle this would standards mess with $200. As soon as I buy a -R drive +R would become the standard, and if I bought a +R drive -R would become the standard. My refusal to buy a DVD writer is the only thing keeping the industry from standardizing.
Well... it isn't very funny anymore, and they have too many ads. I mean how many times can you read a story like "Local Man Proud of Coffee Cup Collection?"
That's fine, but the OSS community should stop criticizing businesses for using MS products in that case. If they have to spend more to bring Open Office up to their requirements than to license MS Office there is only one logical choice.
Slashdot says, "Real insight is double-plus ungood," so they keep modding up the exact same uninsightful and incorrect 1984 comment every single time it is made.
What is the point of trying to improve the service? Just stick a few more things on the main page and release a few more of those lovely "Do you Yahoo?" commercials.
I'd like to use it at video rental places and CD stores to get product reviews.

Cellphone: That is excellent. May I also suggest you buy the movies on either side of it. They are also wonderful. In fact, I think you would enjoy every movie on the shelf. You should buy them all.
You mean the publishing company that Rowling gave the right to translate and publish her work is suing someone who is releasing that is translating and publishing her work? How could they do that! Copyrights are evil! blah blah blah! [/slashbot impression]
How many remotes do you have?

They see SOMETHING in the ink blots, and that something is probably in the dictionary... not that many people make secure passwords anyway.
Avast, substitute "whole" for "would", and ye shall get the answers ye seek. Yar, I forgot to preview... yar.

They bundled an FTP client with Windows? Of all the anti-competitive... MONOPOLY!
Companies using Mozilla and paying zero will also not be as prevalent as companies using IE and paying zero so it is basically a wash.

Business Guy: I'd love to if you just has [feature] which MS has and makes my life a lot easier.
OSS Community: Create it yourself, lamer.
Business Guy: Hello, Microsoft, I would like to order a 1000 computer site license for MS Office. Thanks.

Where are you people paying $20 for a CD? I got the new Metallica album for $12, and you can get anything for no more than $16.

I can't imagine why you would need to know. I'm sure the printer can figure that out for himself.
