niche market? I don't know everyone single person i know that had PSX or Dreamcast had it chipped/had boot discs etc. Maybe I live in a hotbed of piracy.
Though tbh the ps2 and xboxen don't seem to be being chipped as much, though i don't know as much people witht them
from what i've seen the difference between software and hardware modems are about £3 hardly a earth shattering sum if your that desperate to use the net through linux
fair point never thought of that:(
i'm not up to date on the console scene but aren't xbox and ps2 broadband launching later this year? I've already seen 56k unofficial modems for them. The xbox broadband is an ethernet card already built in i *believe* which should be easier to get working with linux. So this will be outdated pretty soon hopefully.
i was under the impression that it ran a form of Windows CE
of course i read that about 3 years ago or something when the DC was first announced so chances are i'm wrong

i dunno much about US phones but in the UK the phones are locked into a certain provider. Afaik the providors don't unlock them, however you go into any town centre and there'll be 2 or 3 market stores offering unlocking while you wait. I've got the software somewhere just no wires.
I dunno how people can get a new phone all the time. I've had my first and only phone for over 2 years now (only cost me £50 then) and never felt the need to update for new games or something ridiculous
someone has already posted the Sealand site, there are many projects which are doing things like this such as new utopia it is feasible if you have the money and legal.
the romans and greeks knew many things that wasn't known in the middle ages though. Hardly proves your point.

because its illegal as they're classified as super computers?
its quite funny really, in Germany the opposite is true, you get naked people on tv from early on but a lot less violance
off topic? worthy of being modded down but not off topic imo
though its a reason that more people will count against installing linux when they look into it

because it hasn't got a hard drive iirc?

but, how many people who have a DC now have gone and bought a PS2 or X-Box?
what would be the point in writing games specifically for gnu/linux when someone else (transgaming)will happily port them for you for free?
dunno where you read BST but it is used to refer to British Summer Time
last i knew there were only 1 billionish people in china :)
a woman in scotland was sued for causing someone else trauma when she had an epilectic (sp?) fit
you missed 25% of global pollution :)
