    if you add the fuel you need to get the radioactive material to your calculation it looks no longer like such a clean solution
    you need energy to build the plant ( concret uses a coal to produce ) and you have to dispose it after a few years ( not just the nuclear waste )
    for me it is an open question who pays for the disposal of the plant this if the company operating it can't.

    you cant work while you take phone-calls
    you drain your cell battery if you work for 3 or 4 hours
    you have to set the shit up
    with windows sometime it works then you reboot and it wont
    big issue if you work for 20 or 30 min in a train and you have to spend 5 minutes to see it failed then another 5 to fix it
    i use a globetrotter umts / gprs / wlan card which is sold by the phone carriers with their logo on it
    it works with windows and linux
    i got no powerbook so i dont know about mac
    the windows software is sometimes pain in the ass because
    if you work in train it often hangs up the connection because it cant decide which antenna to take and it take so long to connect that the next antenna already is stronger and it has to break up and start all over again
    linux is much smoother because it doesn't break the connection at all ( normally)
    so it won't have to re-negotiate the connection and get a new IP address and all this stuff
    and a special data plan or a second sim should not be an issue here in switzerland
    about 20 $ a month with the card included and 1GB Traffic
    or 7 $ a month for second sim card

    india already has nukes
    they are already enriching their own uranium
    they have not signed the anti nuke contract ( what ever it is called )
    that just means they will have more uranium
    the american stuff they will use civil but all the other stuff they have can go into nuke production
    i don't know if they think they need more nukes, or if they would be ready to sell stuff to the right price
    but more nukes means it's just more likely they will get in the wrong hands and will be used some time
    bush is just trying to keep oil and other fossil fuels cheap with encouraging india to use nuclear power to satisfy their increasing energy need
    it is just typical american foreign policy: keep supporting the not so clean guy and somewhere in the future you will have a break with him and he gets your new big problem

    So you have no issues with Iran building new reactors? I'm personally quite puzzled to hear in the news that Australia is looking to sell Uranium to India and China, and practically in the same breath decrying Iran's extension of their nuclear fuel processing plant.
    The US Govt ( at least bush) is also trying to sell uranium to India

    they have one big problem the software random lockups, hardresets or they even stop accepting phone calls without any indication so the user has no idea that he is or has been missing calls.. and this at least once at week sometimes sms are just lost this is true for all qtek models from with windows mobile for pocket pc from qtek 1010 up to 9100 there are slight variations with diffrent rom versions i know what i talk about... the company i work for has about 500 Qtek 9090 deployed i have ( and sometimes even use ) a qtek 9000 with a nice 640x480 screen it is nice for internet or email, the keys are big enough to type quite easy sure IE lacks features and stuff but with a "real" browser it is really nice with its screen size the only benefit to use it as phone is: in our it department if you miss a call you can just blame the qtek because all know of the problems of the device

    Apple is not not using PowerPC because it is to slow
    At least not for desktop
    the problem is the lack of decent mobile chips
    IBM is quite focused on Server/Workstation/Console market with their chips
    While those chips shouldn't need power-plants to run, their energy consumption and heat generation is not as crucial as with mobile devices as laptops and stuff
    at the moment and in near future the laptop market is way faster growing then desktop market
    apple with their lifestyle products ( not negative ) has to keep up with this trend
    and i cant imagine how they should keep up without faster and cooler mobile cpu's
    i did not write off PowerPC for apple workstations altogether
    in my humble opinion apple has to continue both system lines for quite a while
    in order to get a smooth transition without hurting too many customers
    during this time apple has still a leg in the PowerPC market and
    could take up future advancements of the PowerPC line without to much damage
    maybe IBM has to drive their Cell stuff to a decent mobile CPU as soon as Microsoft wants to release a xbox mobile

    The real problem is that they have no on the go music download from itunes music store
    that would have made it unique
    now it is just mobile with mp3 player
    maybe with a cool interface and sync options but still just a mp3 player
    if the download price (2 - 4 $ per song) had been ok there would finally be a killer app for G3

    if they try to steal the whole program they could be caught
    but i don't know how you could hope to detect a few 100 lines of sourcecode which is integrated in a much larger program?
    they could change some stuff, mingle it with their own source and nobody will ever know if he can't look at the source
    maybe you could find it out with bugs which affect the programs in the same way or something
    but i think it woud be quite an effort needed to prove they stole something
    and to prove it you would have to know which program to check

    i think you could split it up
    what use is the physic engine without the storyline and the content??
    if you consider that anyone had to release a game made with the physic engine also gpl
    i think it would more be a problem to clearly seperate the engine from the content
    maybe you had to release the game content also as gpl
    the problem is that other companys could steal parts of your code and reuse it as in their closed source stuff without you knowing

    then you are quite fucked up
    or should the gym open for a longer time?
    maybe 24/7?
    then the poor guy at the gym would have to work 24/7 so that everyone can come when he likes to?
    maybe not... but are you willing to pay 3 times as much so they can work in shifts??
    syncronisation of mankind is very important
    how will you have social contact when everybody works as he likes
    there will be no after work beer with most of your mates because they work diffrent schedules, no time with your girlfriend except you are lucky enough to be able to schedule your working day
    about everything would fall appart
    but if you like to be a social hermit you can do shift-work
    the main use of DST is to give you more time with sunlight in one piece
    where i live i get about 6 hours of daylight after work in the summer and about 4 hours in the morning

    your grandmother has to learn the things she wants to do anyway
    and it is not harder to write a letter or email and to surf the web with linux than with windows
    it might be a bit of trouble to install but i don't think your grandma will install windows by her self
    but a windows sysadmin comes with his windows knowledge and thinks he knows how things are supposed to work
    he may be able to learn or not
    but it is not easy to bring a company with windows to use linux if they had to hire additional peoples which know linux

    there are countrys where half of the adult population will die of aids in a few years if the rate of infection stays the same

    but my point is still valid
    because the ISS is at about 360 km
    and the spaceshipone can only reach about 112 km and this only for a very short time
    flight time about 20 minutes compared to weeks for the spaceshuttle
    so it is a bit early to call out the end of non-commercial space flight

    more than likely the last non-commercial manned mission into space
    this is a little bit american centric
    i am sure there will be several non-commercial missions from russia or china and maybe even from japan before virigin Galactic gets there again
    btw to compare those jumps into the space with a shuttle misson is some kind of stupid
    or where will you store those 15 tons of load a shuttle can take up there
    and there is quite a diffrence between a jump out into the space like virigin does it and a geostationary orbit like the shuttle does

    imho those stances are inhuman if you consider what is happening in the developing countrys
    by the evil look i did not think about his nazi background (if you even can call it so=)
    i just meant how he looks
    the impression i got was that of a nasty old man when i saw the first pictures of him.
    btw my great-grandfather went to a kz becaus he refused the military service
    so don't talk about deserting in the few last month or days of war as a heroic deed
    at this stage of war deserting was the common thing..

    to privatize the space flight means that somebody has to make profit from it
    space flight is a high risk business and normaly high risk means very high profit
    i think the NASA has a huge problem in form of lack of innovation
    they just lack of a replacement for their old shuttle
    i think the shuttle was never intended to fly for so many years
    and if there where a replacment in time there would have been 1 or 2 accidents with the shuttle and it could still be called a success
