Redhat hacks KDE beyond the feel and proper use of KDE. Fedora replaces a lot of QT applets with GTK ones to perform a lot of functions. KDEsu is a prime example although there is others.
If you are a KDE fan, than you're being shortchanged if you run Fedora or Redhat products.
SuSE used to be a great product, but 10.1 had so many problems I've lost confidence.
As an Australia I cannot understand how the American justice system is so harsh.
This is only one example of draconian style laws against citizens, I don't understand how you throw somebody in jail for 25 years for armed robbery, and even more for murder.
America is also one of only few countries to have the death penalty, most counties got rid of that a long time ago. Up until only a couple of years ago America also had death penalty for children - that to most people is a grose carriage of mis-justice.
I love the name, being an Aussie I can see the amusing side.
For those of us who arent Australian, a Wombat is an native Australian marsupial.
The wombat has powerful burrowing techniques. I'm wondering if they chose the name because of the nature of virtualisaton and how it burrows metaphorically into the O/S.
A touch of comedy with an added smell of satire is the medicine.
Short and sharp was my motto, and it will probably be my undoing.
Appreciate the added commentary surrounding my post. For right or for wrong, I can see around 50% believe it's troll and the other 50% believe its informative.
1) Act and charge like a real bank, but don't say you're one.
2) Offer no real customer service, treat customers like thieves, offer no financial protection, unlike a real bank don't be forced to implement security and continity controls
Kim Beazley is a reminder to all us Australians that he is not fit to govern and control our land. He is so out of touch with the people that he will do anything to grab votes to bump up a "rescue" a sunken campaign. His politics and opinion poll tells the story, and with the 2007 federal election looming he is desperate to win some points. The Labour party have clearly lost their identity, they don't know what to do or who to support anymore. Watch the news, his party has no innovation, his sole mission is to put down reasonable ideas put forward by other parties.
I'd somewhat agree with your analogy but I'm pretty much against the use of software patents with such a long shelf life. Such patents from NTP (and they arent the only ones) are frivilous and damaging to innovation.
But don't let that stop you, this is similar to the Soviet Union & US arms race during the cold war. Each company has been battling to hold as many patents "WOMD" as possible to ensure "adequate" legal protection over their lines of business.
The problem with RIM ackowledging defeat and paying money to NTP may of opened the flood gates to further litigation. But we'll never know.
But yes, PR is a very powerful division within a company, so, the good verses evil is never quite so black and white. Although that comes back to my first statement, live by the sword, die by the sword:)
It has some really good and valid points to get your started.
You ask how you find customers?
Well the simple answer to this is you HAVE to be social.
I recommend showing up to networking nights/seminars, and I'm not talking about playing Doom.
Building a business is similar to building a social network of friends. The more relationships and contacts you attain the better chance you have of being billable.
Perform presentations. Show that you are an expert in your field.
Doing your first few jobs with very cheap rates to get your foot in the door can also win customers.
Treat your customers with absolute respect, and BE ON TIME. If you say you are going to fix something or do something, then DO IT. You'd be suprised how much confidence you can garner just by being reliable.
As slashdot sees Disney as mostly evil, it should be noted that most of the sceptical activities of Disney can be attributed to one man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Eisner.
Read up on these completely different management styles and then take a look at Disney again. Iger was responsible for talks to continue with Pixar, so its no suprise that it might lead to this.
Porting the flash engine isn't as simple as a re-compile.
Flash uses a x86 bit JIT runtime compiler, some of the underpinnings such as their garbage collections accomodate only 32 bit pointers.
Its no small task, but with the release of Windows 64 bit into main stream will help move things along.
My guess is you'll see a native 64 version realistically within 6 months, I know the Adobe engineers are working on it.
Two close in-laws have had major dental problems, and have avoided it for years, decades even.
One of them got to a point where she couldnt eat properly, and was FORCED to goto the dentist.
I don't know what was worse, the pain she experienced from remediation work required, or the dental bill - (around AUS $18,000).
Major reconstructive surgery could of been avoided if she went when her problems first arose.
So heres a lesson kids - when you need to go, GO!
"The process, quite frankly, was driven by one individual in a very powerful position"
This is eseentially the problem with the majority of politically driven initatives.
Pull your head out of your ass Senator, this happens far too many times, with far greater consequences than a mere document format.
I'm talking about the stuff "that really matters" - health, economics, welfare, jobs, civil rights etc.
Sick of death of how govenments operate.
Microsoft is laughing all the way to the bank.
Not only have they locked in the vast majority of enterprise customers, they now have no pressure to deliver a product when they said they would.
This is classic Microsoft and their best.

Give Mandrake, Gentoo, Kubuntu a try.
The application looks like something from Windows 3.11

On your new salary, can you afford to live in the new area?
Exactly.
I bought a place within 30 minutes walk to my office in Sydney because I was sick to death of relying on a woeful public transport system we have.
I also sold my car, and get taxi's everywhere. Walk to the shopping centre. I'm fitter for it and its actually saved me time and money.
I don't know if the prequel will work.
Especially when Boxem Babes like this weren't created 50 years prior to Caprica and Earth were infiltrated!

What a sensational business model.

2) Offer no real customer service, treat customers like thieves, offer no financial protection, unlike a real bank don't be forced to implement security and continity controls

Buuuut, coffee stunts your growth!
Since I gave up coffee 3 months ago, my penis has enlarged by 2 inches.
If this keeps up, I'll be bucking along with Ron Jeremy in no time!
Officially, the first release of Novell Netware to be Y2k compliant was 3.12.
I remember because I had lots of jobs pre 2000 to patch a whole bunch of them for my customers.
Nokia mobiles are the most popular, abeit cheapest mobiles available in the Western market.
Its no suprise that the Japanese market has rejected their crackpot mobiles.
I have been free from a Nokia for the past 2 years and absolutely love it.

Lie by the sword, die by the sword.
NTP should have acccepted RIM's first offer instead of being greedy.
Nuff said.
$7 for 4 x 30 min shows?
I don't know how good this show is, but by god it would have to top some heavy hitters.
$7 for 2 hours of what seems to be average comedy skits - I think someone needs to ease off the drugs a little.
Please excuse my late reply, I took a week off /..

I could ramble a few things, but I think you best bet to get started to check out this:

I will never again work for "the man" again.
Best move I did 7 years ago.
Take time off when you want too, do the things that interest you.
And the kicker, get paid double what every other 9-5 Joe is getting.
