    I don't believe him because the dual proc G4s didn't come out in 1998. Unless the RAM was made in 1998, but that doesn't really tell us much about total system performance does it?

    Yes, but those ease of use things are worth something. That's the point of these commericals. Buy a mac and your time will be spent doing more useful things rather than fiddling with the system.

    I'd say its more than MS bases their game selection on what will sell in the US and not in Japan. Believe it or not, they're different. When that one game by the old final fantasy guy came out, they sold more 360s in japan than had ever been sold or something stupid like that.

    I'd argue that it'd be bad for DVD MPEG-2 as well. You'll have to reencode those as well. Unless there's something I'm missing.

    Yeah, but to show them on the AppleTV you'll have an extra step of reencoding the files that the EyeTV spits out. You can't send the MPEG2 that the EyeTV makes to the Apple TV. Same thing with ripping DVDs.

    From the AppleTV tech Specs page: Video formats supported: H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): 640 by 480, 30 fps, LC version of Baseline Profile; 320 by 240, 30 fps, Baseline profile up to Level 1.3; 1280 by 720, 24 fps, Progressive Main Profile. MPEG-4: 640 by 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile

    exactly. In 2 years, when these players are in a not-insignificant number of homes. A reasonably popular release will have that content bit "accidentally" turned on. Depending upon the uproar over that "accident", the studios will decide when to fully impliment it.

    Yeah, because that's worked so well for Apple. I know that's the reasoning, but what gets used in business has a lot of inertia, and many school Mac labs were replaced with windows as that's what is out there.

    Presumably, children won't be the only ones to use it. Thus, making the UI impossible for anyone to learn would be a bad thing.

    Kids will be more receptive to the differences in UI that will be present. The grandparent assumes that it will be more difficult for an adult to learn how to use the OLPC.
