    Well, at least give the troops a choice in the matter, not just blindly order them away from what they're doing like we do now. Basically leave them where they want to be as long as possible. Som eof the guys w/ families would be happy to recruit or be DIs.

    We should skip the chemical enhancments and actually train harder. I was in the Marine Corps for over 8 years and the average Marine is in better shape than the average solider/sailor/airman but there's the elite Force Recon/Recon Marines who are already light years better than your average Marine.
    How about thinning down the non-combat support types in the military and focusing on training the hell out of what we have left? Longer enlistments, better pay, and you're out if you don't meet physical training standards. Plus skip all of the extra duty billets that take away from your fighting ability/training like recruiting and drill instructor duty

    It's not unacceptable and I've already criticized Bush myself in my journal. Call me stupid and you'll regret it if we meet in person. You're putting words in my mouth about whom I'd die for. I do wonder why all of you parlor activists never complain about China or North Korea.

    Konqueror. That's it. Split view and tabbed browsing, flawless (compared to Finder) SAMBA browsing, better font rendering...
    There's a couple of other nice-to-haves like Gnucash and Bluefish but once I finally get Fink to stop bitching about XFree86 being already isntalled I should be good w/ those.

    I don't like games enough to spend $300 dollars on Windows XP or Windows at all for that matter. I've bought Unreal Tournament 2003 for Mac and Linux, Halo for the Mac, and I'll buy Unreal Tournament 2004 for the Mac as well. Maybe most games are compatible w/ Win98Lite but I don't like games enough to install it.

    Yes, the Powerbooks really are that nice. My 15.2" 1.25 w/ a gig of RAM and Superdrive is only 5.6lbs.

    Why not just use Fink to install something OpenSource that can sync w/ a Palm?
    Of course I don't know because Fink bails on me every time I use it and trying to to download the Apple Developer tools from connect.apple.com hasn't worked since I started trying to Saturday. Used Safari, FireFox, and Mozilla and none of them work. Any ideas?

    But I have a 1Gb limit on traffic (thanks Cox.net) and maybe the Fedora Project could put the base system on just the first CD? Whole installation chokes if you try and go ahead and install w/out the first two CDs. Solution so far has been to install the minimal system and apt-get or yum the rest but that's problematic. At least Mandrake lets you install off the first CD and get a decent system up and running.
