  1. Speaking of Dell... on Six Laptops That Don't Burn · · Score: 0

I can only speak of Dell laptops since that is what I am familiar with....

My 2.5 year old Latitude D600 would be so hot that if I didnt put a pillow barrier between it and my legs, it would feel like a very bad sunburn. But as I often forgot, the pillow would slide and cover the the ONE fan slot on the bottom. Keep in mind, this laptop only became this hot when playing games. The plastics under the video controller felt like they could melt.

Now that I have a new Inspiron 6400, its like going from hell to heaven. They obviously made improvements on cooling with the additional airflow slots on the top, back and many more (3 I think), on the bottom. I think the newer video card doesnt get as hot anyway. No need for that stupid pillow barrier...and just when I was about to break down and buy one of these: aluminum widescreen notebook cooler.

I have to agree with this post. The guy was using a 3rd party peripheral to automate the game, and blizzard detected these commands being sent and banned him. Using the keyboard to send the multiple keystrokes doesnt seem any different than using software to send the keystrokes which they forbid.

He lost, but you still wont know when, because youre not going to be counting! Why complain about this being posted? You knew he was going to lose eventually. Now if youre going to count all remaining 34 shows, then youre going to be disappointed, but if youre normal, then you will not keep track, and you will still be shocked the day he goes down. BTW, who'd they bring on to beat him? Stephen Hawking and Ben Stein?

  8. Re:Tech TV on Cable TV Versus Satellite TV? · · Score: 1

I too am frustrated with the channel line up of Comcast in my area. I once called Comcast to inquire about certain channels, one being Tech TV and the other being The Outdoor Channel, not to be confused with the Outdoor Life Network. I too was blown away when I checked the digital channel summary to find Tech TV not listed there either. If it werent for Comcast's great cable internet service, I would be on satellite in a heartbeat. DirecTV now offers local stations, DVR's, and has some great sign up incentives, such as free installation, 3 months of HBO free, and 3 recievers. Also, three friends with satellite never have a problem with poor reception.

  12. Re:about time on Jaguar Free for K-12 Teachers · · Score: 2, Interesting

Actually, Apple has done some very nice things for some local schools around here.

A Georgia middle school that my girlfriend teaches at won a grant from Apple several years ago, which provided the school with 750 iBooks and an airport network to cover the entire campus. Each student and teacher is given an iBook, which all now have OS X, for the school year, unlimited 'filtered' network access at school, and 3 hours of dialup access yer week from of campus. This is in addition to several iMac labs at the school.

This is in an average to low income area as well.

I wish something like this were available to me when I was in middle school.
