Well, about privacy. Gmail seems to be scanning all it's mail. that will include the mail from people that send mail to gmail users. but don't forget that you sometimes HAVE to send mails to people with gmail accounts. just think about what email providers will come up with next. "your mail will now have a 4% chance of being send to a random user, he or she can then pay us in order to know where the mail is from, we think this is a very geeky way to create a dating service, if you press accept, you agree, otherwise you won't be able to use our service." the bigger companies are the only ones that can stop a privacy disaster.

(wine emulator anyone?) in short: I hope this fork will be soon forgotten, and redhat will spend its time in sending patches to linus for inclusion in the linux 2.6 kernel instead.

I myself think kde and such have enough eye candy already. I really can't care is they use real or fake transparantie. This IS a very good thing, IF we are ever going to replace X or if you would want to use KDE under your framebuffer you would be able to do this by using a QT version designed for it. so framebuffer qt/kde without X at all isn't that far away, it is also a goal for kde 3.3 to remove all X depenencies in kdelibs and kdebase, if that is archived go can run kde on anything that has a QT port. it is not only cool, it is also a very flexible and orginized way of designing apps. GOOD WORK.
