I have HD set up on mine. The only issue is that the HD tuner cards only go up through channels 125. I have to use my external tuner from Comcast to get to the 126-999 channels. It does have the nifty IR remote support I've been thinking of adding so it can beam the signal to switch channels straight to the receiver. I love my MythTV setup and use it every day.
Yeah I would definitely throw into the "kitty" for a feature. I even pay for shareware if it is worthwhile. Winzip was a perfect example for a long time until XP had a built in utility for unzipping. I would definitely pay for a feature such as a linux app that scans for unencrypted wireless or a wireless with a key you have on a list and automatically connect when in range. Great for roaming and would be awesome if every time you drove through a free hotspot it could sync email.
Clinton isn't the fucking president anymore. Bush is.
So if we get a democrat next election (2nd democrat in 30 years), since Bush isn't the president any more at that point we can just blame everything that happened in this administration on the new president? Its all about the root cause of a problem and not pointing a finger at whoevers face is on TV. I'm even disgusted by the # of people who blame 9/11 on Bush. They trained for 8 years for the attack and yet that fact just causes Bush bashers to explode with anger when you ask them how the terrorists knew who was going to win 8 years in advance.
President Bush, what have I told you about using the internet without supervision?
Sorry to break it to you, but this was kicked off in 1996 by Bill Clinton. link here
From the article:
For those who point to the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution, Poole explains that President Bill Clinton recently signed Executive Order 13083 entitled "Federalism." That document effectively gives authority to the federal government to force anything it wants on states. No effort was made by anyone in Congress to overturn the Executive Order. Conservatives went to their legislators in 1995 to protest an effort by Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt to establish a Conference of the States to address the issue of states rights and federalism.
Little notice was given to the issue in 1996 when Congress passed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act. One section of the act requires all states to make their driver's licenses comply with certain guidelines found in Section 656 (b) of the act. Federal agencies will be required to prohibit the use of state driver's licenses beginning Oct. 1, 2000, unless they comply with the federal standards.
"These new National ID regulations violate every notion of federalism, because they force states to comply with regulations issued by the federal government without any constitutional authority to do so," says Patrick Poole of the Free Congress Foundation. "Nor are federal agencies empowered to force state to gather detailed information on every person in order to comply with federal mandates. The net result of the DOT's regulations is to establish a national ID system, which has been opposed by almost every non-governmental sector for the past five decades." Shortly after the passage of the act by congress, Utah state Rep. Gerry A. Adair introduced a bill to comply with the federal requirements.
Without the new card it may become impossible to purchase firearms, get a job, board a plane, vote, cash a check, open a bank or investment account, purchase insurance, receive federal benefits, obtain a student loan, receive Medicare or Medicaid benefits, and many more basic services presently taken for granted according to Poole. Once the card is in use, Poole suggests that privacy will be a thing of the past.
All of this said, this is one of the reasons I can't stand it when ppl blame everything on Bush without even doing any research.
I'll manage an economy, but I don't want to deal with workers in between managing tank assaults.
You might like Empire Earth 2 then. You can set up preferred resources and all idle or new citizens will go find that and automatically starting bringing it in. Citizen manager was the best thing they added to the game.
No I mean the whole season in DVD format. Sci-Fi on Comcast in my area is about the same as watching a TV station with rabbit ears. Besides, I really want to buy it and it's sickening to watch it being sold for months already overseas and not even having an announcement date over here yet. They're shooting themselves in their own foot by not selling it. Anyone who wants it as bad as I do won't wait forever and will eventually download/burn to DVD.
I miss the days of flight/space sim games. There are a few out there but nothing as captivating as Comanche was to me back in the 486 days. I can't stand FPS games. They are all the same to me with different graphics, weapons, and maps. Currently I am on day 2 of missing most of my sleep playing Empire Earth 2. It isn't the jaw dropper I hoped it would be but I love RTS games and this has some really nice new features. I really like the concept of MMORPG but the people on there flame as much as some of the slashdot crowd. I don't join a multiplayer game to see a bunch of people arguing. I keep expecting to see Oprah come out to mediate.
They have been doing stuff like that long before the patriot act came into play. If you 5 minutes of any cop show or courtroom show based on actual cases you will see they no longer adhere to ANY of the basic rights of the defendants. It is now guilty until proven innocent and this stance is used to obtain evidence in any way possible. I won't even watch Cops or The Shield because it is blatant illegal activity by officers and they make it seem ok.
I hit send before I was done. I also wondered what constituted a "pre-release" movie. Does this include 'Battlestar Galactica' and other seasons of shows which don't even have an announcement of a release date yet? I'm going to buy that as soon as it comes out on DVD but I'm sick of waiting. I'm hoping this just means movies that haven't hit DVD yet. Once it hits DVD anyone who has friends that buy it can watch it for free anyway.
we learn that salary actually has very little to do with job satisfaction and employee performance.
Hopefully this isn't as widespread as they think. Although, management has some pretty weird ideas that never make sense anyway. As for myself, I am TOTALLY the opposite. Give me $50K+ salary and I'll work til midnight every day if they want me to. Give me less than $30K and I'll be at work, I'll get the job done, but I'll be stressed and broke.
I found a job after my third interview with a good company that...
Congrats. Unfortunately it's mostly a numbers game these days. Too much experience applying for a low wage job (even if you are desperate) ends in you not getting a phone call. I see it all over the market.
Just to put this into perspective, when I graduated college in 95 I had over 30 offers in the first week after graduation. I only interviewed with 10 of them. Back then if you didn't like your job, put an add on a website and take the offer you liked from the stack that came pouring in;)
I missed that one. I was still on the bandwagon of hating Iomega for using 3rd world countries to assemble their click-of-death drives. Now I hear it's not only acceptable to use sweat shops, it was regulated about 10 years ago. Wow.
Oh holy crap I remember stuff like that in the 80's and had completely forgotten. I never personally went but I had friends that went to groups where they would bring the new "cool" shareware/freeware apps in and show them to everyone. Lots of floppy swapping went on and he would give me copies of some of the cool stuff he learned about. Reminds me of QDOS, Telix, and some others I got that way.
I don't want their hosting service i just want them to direct my domain to my machine.
I've been using granitecanyon for my DNS for years and had absolutely no problems at all. Free is a pretty good price too since you don't need banners or anything;) The only issue is the turnaround time for the automated system to make DNS changes. No biggie for a home operation though.

There is also usually some start-up capital you have to pay back. Most are in the double or triple digit millions on that scale. I've seen companies with only 50 employees have 140 million in start-up revenue to dig out of.
I agree Windows isn't completely stable, but my home built computer at home hasn't crashed even once in over 2 years (running 2K Pro). My work laptop running XP however.....
Side note, the last time I crashed my 2K box at home literally was when I tried a "copy" of the full version of Ad-Aware. The purchased version works great though. So even though they are putting all of the broken eggs in one basket so to speak, they do have a valid point for some cases.

When my job went overseas I would have gladly worked for $500 a week from home while searching for a job. I was only making $320/week on unemployment.

I saw that when I went to pick up Empire Earth 2. What exactly is it and what makes it special? I may just go buy it.

Man I hope they do tap my phone. Unless it's a geek listening in they will be bored out of their mind listening to support calls for linux.

Then cost taxpayers tens of thousands to prosecute and hold the accused.
middle aged upper class caucasion males don't really have to worry much about sexual assault
If they have a daughter or wife they do.
Ahh ok cool. I was too busy playing Empire Earth 2 yesterday to keep up with slashdot ;) Mmmmmm....ICBMs are pretttttyyyyy.
haha funny ;)

What does religious right really have to do with people pirating movies?

My project is a one-man-when-I-have-time project. It's more like quarter-ass.

Just a guess but it is probably because of the mpeg compression.
Whoa you have 15 on comcast? You lucky bastard.
