I'm talking about satellite repairs via the shuttle. Hubble and countless others have been under maintenance by the shuttle but it hardly gets media attention since it is mainly just hardware upkeep.
$5M to one organization that simply tracks down spammers or whatever else they do is enough to keep them going for quite some time. Spend a few $100K on equipment, probably about $50K/person salary average, other costs of business....this is probably more than everyone thinks. Unless it's an obscenely large department that is out of control on spending, this should tide them over for awhile and alieve the need for them asking for more tax $$ or laying people off. Everyone is comparing the contribution to total MS $$ rather than the contribution to the receivers needs.
Great idea. We'll stop the space program, let all the satellites fall out of the sky, do without phones, tv, weather forecasts, etc and send the 200 million to some dictator who keeps it all for himself and the people still starve. Shuttle launches aren't a waste IMO. The ISS is a huge waste though. We would be better off with one outside of LEO or between the earth and the moon.
Not true. You are unique just like everyone else. According to the logic of being unique or not, that would mean nobody is unique and therefore we are all the same.
business can determine what hours they want their employees to work, based on the amount of daylight available at that particular time of year
But then you would have the confusion of going to the other side of the country and trying to figure out what time they go to work there rather than just adjusting your watch +/- a couple of hours. I think it would be more confusing.
Just have internal time be in seconds, globally. Then just define days as XXXXXX-XXXXXX.
6 roman numeral 10s - 6 roman numeral 10s would be 0 everywhere. midnight already?
Oh wow I looked it up on imdb. He has been busy.

Can someone post the conversion factor to US Standard shitloads? I can't seem to find it on Google.
It is more than a buttload but less than a motherload. I think it is a 1:1.1 ratio so you will get a little more shit when trading shit with other countries like France.
I was expecting a comeback from the left like this.
Don't be a fucking retard.
Common leftist comeback fitting attitudes of most of them
Iraq was one of the most prosperous nations in the Middle East before 10 years of sanctions destroyed it's economy.
Turn on the TV...look at the situation they were in. The only ones prosperous were the ones in power. That $$ (even the oil for food $$) went straight to Hussein and was not spent on food or upkeep of utilities. And don't do like the rest of the left and leave out all of the facts except the ones that support your case. He ATTACKED A NEIGHBORING COUNTRY. He left the oilfields burning when he realized he couldn't keep it for himself. He murdered so many they may never find all the mass graves. He fired upon allied airplanes in the no-fly zone more times than most people know. The list goes on and on.
Islamic extremists are hardly the only people killing anyone in Iraq. Iraq was *not* a misogynist medieval theocracy under Saddam! Get your blind prejudice out of your ass and actually take a look around!
So how many hundreds of thousands would he need to murder to fit this profile? Millions like Hitler?
History will show whether or not the Iraqi invasion was better or worse for the country as a whole. I'm not prepared to make that judgement
You seem to have already made that judgement based on your comments...
The average Iraqi is substantially worse off today than he was before the invasion.
Huh? How? Utilities coming back online, jobs, women aren't stoned to death for showing their face....
Are you seriously going to tell people that the US is better because we don't kill and torture as many people?
"It's an interesting observation that there is more circumstantial evidence to suggest all Christians are paedophiles than there is to suggest all Muslims are terrorists."
Who modded this insighful? Is this evidence of the IQ, mentality, and misconceived self-deceptive beliefs of non-Christians? Some people with severe mental problems claim to be Christian. Some of the worst criminals in history were atheist. Should we believe that if you are not Christian you are going to go on a chainsaw killing spree? What kind of mentality is this?
The vast majority (like World of Warcraft) have devolved into places where it's only fun for the kids who can play for hours and hours each day
That is why I like Guild Wars so much. Lvl 20 max so you don't have to play constantly to reach max lvl. There is still months and months of playtime after reaching max as well as more item drops, etc. I love being able to just jump on any time i want knowing people aren't a couple of weeks ahead of me in lvls now.
But then on a PC, if you unplug a PS/2 mouse you have to reboot the machine every single time
Not sure what type of problems you are having but if this were true, KVMs wouldn't exist. Mine hasn't done that since NT4.0. Some BIOS versions let you disable probing for PS/2 so that it will still reboot even if there is no keyboard plugged into the PS/2 port.
I had an old IBM laptop that had an LCD readout for battery, disk access, and a clock. It was just an old LCD recessed in at the top about the same size as one of the old calculator displays. It was very handy. I really liked the clock display and wondered why it went away.
I even liked the old Dell computers that had an LCD display on the case that showed what address was being used. If the machine locked up on D800 and you knew your NIC was on that address, you knew what to look for. Also very handy.
There were several things I thought were slashdot worthy today. Triple star system with a planet located, new mission for deep impact, etc. I just gave up spending 20 minutes typing up a pretty article on something relevant only to have it rejected every time. Usually I would see the same story linked by one of the editors a day later (sometimes twice) so it isn't worth the time really.
I really wish the whole reasonable doubt thing were true though. Anyone who has been to court lately knows this is not the case. You are there to prove the officer making the charges is wrong rather than him prove he was right. I'm going on my 3rd year of fighting a bogus DUI. I spent time in jail, no license for 9 months, I'm out about $3 grand, etc. All of this leads to max penalty of $1,500 and 6 months without a license. Funny how I already went through more than max penalty and still am being tried. 2 beers / my body weight = MADD law of being drunk. I hope anybody who supports MADD gets stopped for having a beer with their mexican food during lunch.
If you decide to leave your keys in your car overnight and someone steals your car and gets a speeding ticket are you going to have to pay the fine?
Ironically it is illegal to leave your keys in the car in some places. Australia is one. Maryland is another one.
There are more if you do a google search.
Texas is a reserve. Not very many oil wells pumping here at all. Austin is where 99% of the liberals in TX migrate to so it's pretty much left-wing central for the state. Lots of things like this go on in Austin for cleaner environments, etc. Too bad they won't let them build more than 3 major roads due to killing lizards or owls or something though. All these cleaner burning cars are just going to sit still in traffic with the rest of us;)
Why do people not count Hussein as a terrorist? How many hundreds of thousands of murders do you have to commit before people think you're a bad guy these days? Chemical weapons, torture, murder, mass graves, invading a neighboring country then burning the oil fields as he left...the list goes on and on. He was a terrorist.
And if the polls are showing people thinking Bush is "evil" I'm losing faith in the mindset of the left even more than ever. Just because you're not under attack on home ground and don't hear people running and screaming is no reason to get so content that you call the guy who kept the attacks from happening for 4 years evil.
Somebody mod this up. Nobody seems to care about the attacks that are thwarted. Even the media just mentions "oh yeah they caught 6 people with enough explosives to blow up a city block today. Now here's Larry to show us how sunblock works. Larry?"
Simple fact is that after attacking Afghanistan after 9/11 and going after terrorists aggressively for a change, the number of terrorist attacks has not risen from normal even during the "jihad against all involved" claims. More people die in car crashes than what the terrorists do. If everyone just let them do their thing without forcing them into hiding and wiping out the ones that are found, they would grow so organized that they could create chaos worldwide on a scale way beyond this.
My prayers go out to the families affected by this attrocity. To the people acting like a war on terror isn't working, do you just want to let this group stay in London and keep doing this? You have to take them out. It is the only way. You can't sweet talk terrorists into being nice people. They're brainwashed enough to strap explosives on their bodies and blow up children.
I think now is a good time to remind people that the war on terrorism could not have prevented this.
Read about why they did this. It was in retaliation for roles in Afghanistan partly. Sept 11 prompted the destruction of the terrorist camps there. Thousands of people in the same organizations that live to blow up innocent people were taken out. I think quite a few were stopped since obviously...they are dead.
Most importantly, I must point out talking to the terrorists would not have prevented this either. You can't explain to them that Afghanistan was prompted by the terrorists themselves and nothing was done about them for years even though governments knew about them until they killed thousands of innocent people. Leaving them alone was the worst thing to do.
slashdot.org is an far-right wing Internet news website
Far-right wing bashing would be more accurate. Just mention Bush, religion, or supporting overthrowing a murdering dictator in Iraq and watch the sparks fly.
So am I right in translating this link to mean he's pressing charges to make someone shut up that was obstructing his freedom of speech? Legal documents are too wordy to actually read all the way through.

Just encrypt the goatse and tubgirl pics and carry them around on a disk. They'll leave you alone after the first time.
