There are some nutty "animal lovers" out there, but I think most of those that are against easting meat do it in protest against the cruelty of how animals are raised for human consumption.
As a meat-eater myself, I often think about this and I'm getting closer to be an almost full-time vegetarian. I don't have any problems eating the livestock that my parents raise, because I know they live a good life, full of great outdoors, and are treated with respect. But I've seen my share of farms and in some of them the conditions in which animals live are horrendous. This is the cruelty you speak of.
>It's great to see alternatives to GNU tools gaining ground. It's the only logical choice for embedded systems due to licensing. We're going to need to step up our game and make our own tools with threats like Wayland coming.
What threat does Wayland poses? It's MIT licensed. And X.org isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
I prefer GNOME over Unity, I prefer GDM over LightDM, I prefer Firefox over Chromium and Wayland is nowhere near ready for mainstream. And I still prefer Gentoo over Ubuntu.
The most disturbing consequence of this is that the urinals will be cleaner because people will try to piss inside the urinal now. I'm not joking. In a mall in my town someone remembered to make urinals with images of spiders and other bugs inside the urinals and the effect was notorious because people would then concentrate on pissing on the images inside the bowl!
Virtual every debit and credit card in Portugal can have access to MBNet, a nationwide initiative in which you can have your one time credit card numbers.
We actually have a pretty accessible banking system here in Portugal. We have a state regulated entity called SIBS that pretty much guarantees that every banking system should be able to talk to the others. In practive, this means that every bank has at least one ATM that is compatible with every debit and credit card in the country, and can be used for free, with no taxes for money withdrawal and other operations. It's pretty sweet.
Nothing beats screen.
One student starts programming within a scren session; the other student joins that screen session (screen -x) and now they're both in the same environment at the same time, and both are in control.
It can make very small, precise changes in orbit, and that's what you need to avoid a keyhole.
Actually, to avoid a keyhole, you just have to get drunk.
They would have gone with the Black Night, but he lost his limbs in a fight with King Arthur and thus couldn't handle the spacecraft. It's a shame, really.
Give her some cool and flashy game that *requires* reading. It will encourage her to read and become a brighter human being. I started to read because I was tired of the drawings on Asterix's comic books. I wanted to know the stories too.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Alexandria yet: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/

That means Emacs 25 will be filled with "Sonic boom"!
But you should give elinks a try instead of lynx. elinks supports frames, tabs and mouse input.
You should have used Elinks instead of Lynx. Elinks supports frames, tabs and mouse input.
Yes! I came here to recommend the same trilogy. Great writing and very realistic view of a technologically advanced future.

Actually, it was Shang Tsung. Big Fail.

I have yet to see a copy of ubuntu running in a corporate environment.
That's funny, I'm looking at a few dozens right now. We probably don't work at the same place...

It wasn't dead before?

- Anything to declare?
- Yeah, don't go to England.

gtkmm, gtk#...
I can't believe you left elinks out of that list, considering that elinks is way better than links, with support for mouse, tabs, etc..
Penelope's gonna be mad when you return to Ithaca. According to the prophecy, you should have returned from Troy seven years ago!
I hope they'll go with Gentoo. It is uncrackable. When the hackers attack they can't do anything to it because the system is busy compiling itself.
How many of you read that as "MIT Researchers Fight Grimlock with Linux"? That would be so cool...
And I denounce all religion an affront to "human intelligence".
TXT would indeed be better, if only because it isn't going to change in the future.
What kind of TXT? ANSI? Unicode? UTF-16? Big endian? Little endian? etc, etc.. I know, my examples are probably wrong, but the point isn't.They would have gone with the Black Night, but he lost his limbs in a fight with King Arthur and thus couldn't handle the spacecraft. It's a shame, really.
