eh.. netstat just views all active connections on a machine. no requests involved (unless you do dns lookups) as its all already on your machine. There is no way to stop somebody from seeing you are connected to them except just not connecting and i guess routing yourself through a proxy (though the proxy would be connected)
its "athlon".. say it with me, "athlon".. wow thats not so hard
building two dual athlon machines for the cost of 1 mac is not entirely out of the picture, in fact, its probably possible... or close. Of course this does not exactly lend to a linear speed increase but certainly you would have much more available power to use (overall)..
this is a fecking troll for SURE,how it got modded otherwise I do not know. But I will bite, rest assured. Blizzard ent. owns and hosts battle.net which is a fairly large cluster of servers capable of handling extremely high player loads to host all their online games for ****FREE****. the catch? You actually have to buy the fecking game, due to their as-of-yet unbreakable CD-key implementation methodology (I hear the algorithm isn't all that complex, just the possible keyspace is so entirely huge that its nigh impossible (percentagewise) to get a valid one.
BNETD, despite what the developers claim, was a circumvention of this process. Sure, maybe a minute percentage of these people are honestly playing the game with a honestly bought cd-key, but the others are just pirating and playing online. As another nice side-effect of this, the entire planet, if it so desires, is able to beta test blizzards games, as some clever fellow always manages to get their hands on a copy of it and implement its online playcode into the hacked servers. All bnetd is doing is driving the prices of games UP (or reducing the profit margins for blizzard, as they sell their games for 49.95 on initial release, and have been doing so since before "bnetd"). There was *NO* place for bnetd except "to cater to pirates", more or less, the service was (and still is) inferior to battle.net due to the hacked functionality and lack of massive amounts of bandwidth.
Say what you will, but blizzard (actually vivendi sued, not blizzard) was protecting their *OWN* interests when they attempted to shut down this project, not violating your 'god given' right to "free software".
Just briefly browsing through the editors picks and checking out a few of my favorite genres I'd like to say that I wasn't really impressed with the production quality on most (any?) of the albums. I liked some of the stuff but it all sounds somewhere between slightly and really unpolished, which is what i find to be typical among unsigned artists... Some people can handle such things, to me however its horrid...
the piece is "Fluke - Zion" and just FYI it is not jungle. Jungle is a derivative of Drum n Bass which is a type of breakbeat (characterized by its long 'flowwy' (or tube) sounding bass line) jungle and drum n bass can be used rather interchangeably for the most part (though there are some finer points which are differences).
apparently you have a lackluster amount of knowledge in the realm of EDM. I felt it was a quite moving piece. I really didn't feel like that part of the movie was that long at all, maybe cuz i was grooving to the beat.
On an off-tangent note i'm not so sure about defining it as a rave (i.e. warehouse parties) is very accurate. Sure some of the elements are there but more or less rave was just a catchword for warehouse parties and it belongs to a specific piece of time (89-?? depending on who you ask..). Sure there are still 'raves' today but they aren't anything like they were and longstanders in the scene now disdain from referring to parties as 'raves' as it has come to encompass everything commercial and cliche about the electronic dance music 'underground' [i use the term lightly] (drugs, more specifically e-bombs, shitty NU-NRG/HHC music, flagrant acts of love( or lust), a false sense of 'unity' etc). Seeing as none of this aspect is really portrayed in the zion scene. I think its more correctly dubbed a party (i.e. 'celebration of life'). I know it's a small nitpick...
I think some people went to this movie thinking it would
make them realize much more out of life than is expected, much like the first.
I can only speak for myself but neither of the movies led to any revelations for me, at least ones with any girth. Sure there is some insight in the movie into (apparently) over-caned philosphical subjects, of which i have never really delved into.
I am rather apathetic to the "what is real?/the meaning of life/ do we have any choice?" psyche as it leads to nothing but me chasing my mind in circles.
Tje issue of spam is a classic interstate commerce issue that needs to be addressed within one unified framework. Jeffersonian experimentation, while indicative of broad frustration with spam, is unlikely to do anything to allow email to be used reasonably (ducking) as a marketing tool. A patchwork response to this is just going to be unworkable.
The problem with federalization is that it is federalization, and the solution must be a very good one. Unfortunately, spam isn't something like, say, drug dealing or murder for hire. It hasn't been around for a long time (relatively speaking) and the best ways to deal with it are not entirely clear. In addition, commercial interests will bear heavily on legislation.
In a nutshell, I fear that the end result is that a first attempt at a federal solution will get it wrong. There is only one way to try to prevent this. Get involved now.
This is one issue that dramatically affects our networks and working lives. If there was ever a time to call your local congressthing and offer your expert advice (with a C.V. perhaps), it is be now.
I don't really think federalization is the only/best solution in this case. A new mail protocol could pretty much get rid of spam. However, is there really a clear solution to drug trafficking or hitmen either. Both of these problems still exist to some degree despite federalization, and in some cases the feds actually inflamed the issue, i suppose 'the solution must be a good one' eludes to this.
dramatically effect our lives??? I'd say you are being a bit zealous there. E-mail is 'very important' compared to what? the snails in your grass?
This is the chip that kills intel's god awful dependency on rambus, about time. VIA did release a chipset that supported ddr quite some time back IIRC, but the performance was god awful so it was 'overlooked'. It appears as if this one beats out rambus on performance which is a "good thing"(tm)
it only sells cuz they keep buying it, and how do you know about all this stuff? You're just like everyone else, admit it, your human somewhere deep down there in that geek think (tm) well of yours:-D
although i will admit a lot of sexual appeal oriented stuff is pants that is designed to ride on the fact they have hot birds in their mag./movie/etc.
that lack of internet connectivity (or other "tech" invention) is simply because the people are either ignorant, afraid, or can't afford it. I see another option, willingly opting out of the rat race perhaps. I don't know about you but the majority of the time i spend on the internet is spent nonproductively and ultimately its a fruitless and non rewarding thing. Of course there are times i am glad to have it (such as when i want to look something up, frequently) but to some people this might be outweighed by the fact that it is a timesink. Just like i refuse (ironically enough) to sit down and plug into the television. To me, its a waste of time, maybe a movie here or there, but i won't be caught dead vegging out to cable/satellite television. 60% market penetration is still very very good. I would suspect poverty/ignoraance plays a *much* greater role in the world market then in america (though it certainly exists here)..
id love to agree with you completely here but it simply isn't the case. Most producers in the electronic scene never see commercial success, yet a slew of them have made it, how, you ask? Live performances. Isn't that ironic, in the most technologically embraced side of the music scene, where they do EVERYTHING ass backwards, they have learned to subsidize themselves by LIVE performances (I.E. DJing). My word on the situation is half these worthless fucking artists deserve to fall off the face of the planet, what good is a rock band if they can't play a banging live show etc etc? their business model is clearly broken (live on the fat of a cd.. if you make it). Granted there is a place for good production work, but I am afraid it doesn't happen to coincide with being an artist.. The entire music industry is backwards.. and its quite funny
installing opera 7.03 over opera 7.01 resulted in the deletion of all my favorites, which really torqued me. I don't know if this happens with everyone but I back up all my favs everytime I update opera now (this would be the first time since then!).. also opera has a rather annoying problem with persistent cookies ( i think it may be a default setting, too lazy to look) and it seems to bork up every once in a while requiring you to reinput your user info (annoying at the least). Also a slew of rendering errors can be immediately noticed when using opera also, esp when viewing an entirely cached page (incorre
ctly stretched images etc).. fixed by a refresh... The only good thing i notice about opera is its fast as hell
this is all fine and dandy for acoustical artists, but how is a trance/house/techno producer supposed to make any money.. they make money selling vinyls..
unfortunately you can only die once, so it's kind of important to save it for the real thing you know? And no matter how horrible it may sound it's a lot better for military morale to not realize what exactly they are getting into, in these days technology has made it so deaths on the battlefield seem to be an increasingly remote thing. Somebody has to die for our country when our president goes on the rag so you might as well be thankful people are willingly signing a death contract. Otherwise we might have selective service put back in action to satisfy ms. president's blood cravings... go GWB..
so , umm.. how many olympic swimming pools is that
on
8.6 GB Internet?

since you know, a full size dvd is such a horrible measurement im looking into how many olympic swimming pools a second that is;-)

wouldn't this fall under 'perpetuated stereotype'.. or anecdotal evidence???..
Your evidence is rather anecdotal wouldn't you say?

more like it takes a lot longer to steal 65 megs than it does 6.5... call it what it is ;-)

this is progressive tribal [house] in my opinion.

most of the canadian population lives within 100 miles of US border, go figure, not really more spread out... its deceptive to say the least..

i wish somebody would tell opera that too.. whenever there is a plugin it can't handle or active x controls it goes tits up

WinAce is far superior to winzip.. not sure about legacy support though... (win31/win95)
yeah umm.. 0 comments and err /.ed already.. 2:57 am PST ???
