I state Impeach Bush as a SIG. He has violated parts of his "Oath of Office" he has trampled on our civil liberties and been willing to sell out to the Arabs (Big Oil). He has done far worse than Clinton or even Nixon who both came close to being Impeached.
Support our Troops - Make a plan to bring them home soon not in 10 years.
No, the password criteria given above SUCK. 8 characters, 2 lower, 2 upper, 2 numeric, 2 symbol. There's too much information given away in the security policy about the composition of the password. Whereas a normal 8-character password would have around 90 possibilities for each letter, in this case, each character would have a maximum of around 26 possibilities - even less for some because numerics only have 10 possibilities. You really cut your password space down with overly-restrictive policies.
I like Biometrics. Not only do you need a password you need a fingerprint. Though to do this you need someone to actually cough up the money to do it.
Some in the Freemasons say that "Amen" at the end of a prayer is an invocation of the Egyptian sun god Amen Ra
Not sure who you are talking to in the Lodge but I have never in 15+ years of being a Freemason heard anyone refer to an Egyptian God. Most of the time in Lodge when there is a prayer we do not say Amen but 'So Mote it be'
There are a couple NON-Masonic organizations that took from Masonic Ritual and used other things as part of their so called Masonary. Order of the Orient or something like that started by Alister Crowley comes to mind but that is not an official or even recognized Masonic Body.
Careful what you hear and pass on. Hearsay is not always accurate or true.
I'm obviously not saying you should hit your kid with a stick, but they ought to know that there is more in store for them if they do something like that.
You obviously did not have a mother or grandmother who sent you out to get a switch from the willow tree or similar place. Heaven forbid you brought back too small a switch. I never had to but my wife told me a couple stories about her sisters having to.
That does not mean you can decide for every child. Spanking is an altogether cowardly action, it stops once the child isn't helpless anymore--ever tried to spank a 16 year old?
One big question about this. Barring the issue of a teenager. How do you stop a kid who is reaching out to grab a pan of hot water from the stove? Except in very rare instances that kid will not stop if you just yell at them (which is also considered abuse in some states) you have to reach out and grab them forcibily to avoid the immenent danger or scalding from boiling water. I do not have kids but my wife helped raise one of her cousins. She pointed out to me that in the case of the boiling water you are better off with a swift physical slap to the wrist to stop them than to try and talk them out of it.
I don't agree that Violent Video games are breeding a generation of violent children. I believe that a child with pre-existing aggressive tendecies might just be pursuaded to enhance these PRE existing tendencies through the constant playing of violent video games.... But I doubt it. It all plays back to a child's sense of right and wrong, which with the proper parenting are usually instilled pretty deeply. It has to do with dicipline and a lot of other variables linked the personality of the child.
Just to jump off here some few things.
1: The movie the Warriors came out and there were some instances of increased gang activity immediately after the movie showed.
2: The root problem is not that we have violent images and movies and games but that parents do not take an active hand in rearing their children and teaching them respect and discipline. It is now extremely wrong to slap a kid on the ass as punishment. The whole concept of negative reinforcement has been thrown out in exchange for telling the child it isnt their fault they just beat on another child it is their enviroment. An enviroment which again lacks direct response to negative behavior.
About 14 years ago I was shopping and watched a woman with a very unruly 10 year old boy. He was causing all sorts of problems and being a royal pain in the ass to his mother. I watched her checkout and go to her car and start loading the bags into the car while I was checking out through the lines. Her son grabbed at a bag intentionally ripping it open and spilling of all things the glass jar of pasta sauce on the ground. This broke as well as other objects from the bags. The mother looked up to the sky took a long deep breath leaned over and swatted the kid on the ass. To me this seemed a reasonable response to the situation. The mother counted to 10 probably and made sure her reaction was not increased due to anger. The store manager picked up the phone and as I was walking past I heard him talking to the police and stating that the woman was abusing her kid.
Thankfully I am someone who wont let something like that go. The police showed up. I walked over and gave my account of what I had seen. They still took the child since that is procedure and I was eventually summoned to court as a witness for the defense. The woman got her kid back after she went through 6 months of Anger Management classes. Despite my testimony and others who knew the woman she still has this on her record most likely and that child probably has grown up to be a problem to society.
As much as I deplore violence I accept that there are times when negative reinforcement is needed. There are also times when people go to far and society in the US at least seems to want to go overboard with preventing the mistakes at the cost of making things worse.
I know this is a common belief but I'm really skeptical of it. The medical equipment used in hospitals isn't much more sensitive than any other electronic device. If this were true then one would expect cell phones to interfere with each other, or with laptops, or desktops, or DVD players, or garage door openers. Until someone holds a cellphone up to an oscilloscope and can pick up a signal without using a crystal specifically tuned to the cell phone's frequency I'm going to continue to think of this as 90% urban myth.
I am not sure 100% of this but I do know the following. If my cell phone rings near the phone in my office the phone in my office makes a strange buzzing sound. ONLY when the cell phone is activated. Also I have asked my wife who works in an operating room about this and yes a cell phone that is receiving a call or in use does cause the instruments which are digital for the most part now to act flaky. Sorry but I do not want my heart monitor to go out on me because of a cell phone.

Exactly why I haven't seen a movie in years. I don't like facist "contracts" that I don't have an equal hand in negotiating.
How hard is it to put your phone or pager on Vibrate and put it down your pants. No way are you going to miss a call and then politely leave the theatre to find out what the problem is.
I am on call 24/7 to support my computer client. The servers for 4 factories that I contract to are my responsibility. Guess what... I get an extra $15,000 in the contract to be on call like that. I got a call in the middle of Walk the Line, Harry Potter and Underworld. Have not seen the end of any of those movies yet. I put my cell on vibrate, put it in my pocket and politely leave the theatre when I see the number on the phone is my client. If it is someone else I ignore it and enjoy the vibration between my legs.

Bush has made wiretaps without warrants, lied to the Citizens of the United States and supported torture as well as holding US citizens as "Enemy Combatants" and denied them basic Constitutional Rights. When he took the Oath of Office he agreed to a contract with the Citizens of the United States to uphold the Constitution and do what the Citizens wanted.
He has barely done any of this and the Wiretaps are a violation of the 4th Amendment. Congress can make laws but if a Law violates a Constitutional Amendment then it is invalidated. Even if part of the Patriot Act supposedly gave him permission it still violates our 4th Amendment. That right there breaks his Oath of Office and in my opinion supports the need for Impeachment.
I do not have to support the US Commander in Chief to show support for the Troops of the US. The call for Impeachment has nothing to do with what the Troops want other than they are US Citizens with a voice to say what they think.
"To Announce that there must be no Criticism of the President or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only UnPatriotic and servile but is morally Treasonable to the American public."

Back in 2000 I was searching for a job. I saw a listing. With all the other criteria there was one that said "7 years Windows 95 experience" WTF. That would mean someone would have to have been using Win95 since 1993. Now I know there were betas running around back then and I had one of them at the time but other than me and a few other techies would have actually have had that experience?
Also having to have exact skills to the job listing would increase the ammount of people lieing on their resumes which means that employers no long could trust that the resume was valid.
Instead of online job applications remaining relatively unbiased by age, race, culture, or even gender in some cases, now US guidelines are going to require that you specify if your are a minority, culture preference, a woman, your age, and other statistics that will force employers not to hire the best candidates, but to fulfill diversity quotas.
I would think that this goes against the EOE laws. If an employer asks me my age and I do not get the job I can sue for age descrimination. I believe most of those criteria are actually illegal in choosing a employee. Also most of the laws are upheld by the Supreme Court which means this could easily get thrown out, I would think.
Several climatologists are suggesting that we may well be past the point of return unless drastic measures can be taken. Measures such as, virtually eliminating emissions, building systems to reclaim Greenhouse Gasses from the atmosphere and major Reforestation in areas that the rainforests have been burned away and destroyed.
Considering that the forests are our second biggest source to convert CO2 back to Oxygen and fight the greenhouse gasses it is amazing that the same countries that support Kyto also support the stripping of trees from the Amazon and other places for food production and expansion.
The largest converter of CO2 is Plankton in the oceans. We are slowly poisoning our oceans and killing the Plankton. Red Tides are more common now than they used to be. In part due to the chemicals that we dump and all the garbage dumped out into the ocean. The book and the movie Sahara (a Dirk Pitt Novel) points out the outcome though the movie does not make as strong a case about the poisoning. We could denude the earths surface 100% of greenery and survive. But even losing %25 of the worlds Plankton could devastate the climate and the world.
You know, I'll bet that New Delhi is experiencing cold air from somewhere that's not supposed to happen. The wind currents of the earth were very complex to begin with and it took us a long time to figure them out. The changes that are starting to occur are going to be even more difficult to predict.
Well I do not know about you but I still do not believe my weatherman and what he predicts about the weather. I doubt very much we have the air currents figured out yet.
The Earth's climate is a chaotic system that strives to achieve balance. Continually modifying the atmosphere so that it has properties that cause it to hold more heat means that as balance is being achieved, things will likely be out of sync. Record highs in cold places and record lows in warm places makes so much more sense when thinking about it that way. As does record number of hurricanes.
I have been watching the articles from the scientific community about the Hurricanes and it was pointed out by several that the hurricane season cycles through active to almost dormant. This year was just the peak of the active cycle. The cycle is approximately 30 years in duration. The late 60's or early 70's saw an increase in hurricane activity as well.
The articles also point out that global warming actually has contributed only slightly to the increase. Yes it is a contribution but marginal.
"But don't let your judgement be clouded by thinking you're loving it - and be prepared to drop that job like a hot potato the minute the cons outweigh the pros
Thats just it. I have worked in the computer industry for 15 years and played with computers since the TRS 80 was new. The only way I would leave my fulltime job is for the 2 following reasons.
1: My personal business boomed to the point my full time job was interfering with it. (this is a computer business I am developing)
2: If my wife and I moved to another part of the country at which time I would work hard to find a similar job to get.
I have spent many years sorting out what I liked. I can build you any server you want from Linux to Unix to MS. Mac I would have some trouble with but I love the desktop form of support. Working directly with the end user. I pursued this for years and tried many dead ends before I realized what truly made me happy.
Encourage your kids and prep them for mistakes but do not dappen their enthusiams. Give them the opportunity to fail or they will not realize how much success means.
Just think about this. If everyone are going to do what they love, who's going to drive the bus, be the clerk at the mall, wash the floors, etc, etc.
Seriously? Sheesh and to think no one in the world would ever enjoy any of those jobs ever. There are people who do those jobs you mentioned and others like them and find them enjoyable and satisfying. Just because you do not does not make them wrong for someone else. You also denegrate those who enjoy those jobs by putting them as low as you consider the jobs. Why don't you pick up a mop for a week and wash the floor, it can be very ZEN sometimes.
You job shouldn't be the center of your life. Hopefully you family is. So it isnt as important to have a job you love as a family whom you love and loves you back. N
I am one of the lucky ones. I get paid for doing something I consider fun. Fixing printers, PCs and troubleshooting computer issues in general. I do get tired doing this. I love it when someone looks at me and smiles and thanks me for fixing their computer or printer or other PC related item or fixing an issue with software or network connectivity.
After playing all day and getting paid to do it I go home to the woman I love with plenty of energy and enjoy the time I spend with her. She is lucky as well since she does a job that she loves. Working in an operating room helping others. She doesnt consider it work either. As I said in a previous post if I had listened to my mother I would probably be dead of a middle management heart attack because I did what she wanted to force me into instead of following my dreams. My mother only delayed me. Some peoples parents completely stop their children from following their dreams.
It's really sad that we live in a culture where making a living is a bad thing. Comparing the average US citizen to anyone else in the world, we've got it pretty good. If you hate your job then consider the alternative - living in a war-torn nation where murderous gangs roam the streets and kill folks at random, and you looking for food because of drought. I'd bet that if most people spent 10 minutes in a country like Somalia then they'd think twice about their "crappy" jobs.
I do not see any reason not to encourage your kids to try for their dreams. Just teach them that not reaching your dream is not failure. Encourage them to try and find a way. Give them the support to learn and find out what they need to accomplish their dreams. What happened to the attitude that anyone can grow up to be President of the US. Including a C- Average College student that had several failed businesses.
It used to be that people encouraged their kids. Now they tell them why they cannot do what they dream about. If my mother had encouraged me instead of telling me I had to goto college and get a degree, which I never got,I would have followed the computer business in 1985 instead of 1995 and probably have opened my own shop 10 years earlier than I did. She told me computers were going know where when I graduated High School in 1984 and that I needed to get a business degree because the I was smart and the money was there. How wrong she was.
I am glad I didn't listen to her or I probably would have had a couple heart attacks by now or be dead from stress in middle management worrying about whether or now Ford or GM or some other company was going to fire me to downsize and then I would be too old to get another middle management job.
A crappy job is only crappy if you think it is. There are people quite happy to shovel crap all day. Just because you think a job is Crappy does not mean it is or that the next guy does.
Unfortunately, given this administration's track record for how they treat people/entities who speak out against them or don't roll over and give them what they want, I'd wouldn't be surprised if the government sides with the telcos if/when it comes to that-- just to get back at Google.
Yeah just look at the Microsoft Monopoly case. They sure put MS in their place.
What I want to know is why most employers expect 2 weeks or more notice of resignation yet when they want you out it is usually at the moment of firing you. Other than in a situation of negligence or other such problems they will drop you instantly. Sorry Joe but we do not need you anymore. No explanation nothing you are gone.
I have only worked with one company in 20 years that gave me 2 weeks notice. 2 Days later they told me to go home I would be paid but be prepared to be called if I am needed.
Circuit City has a price match policy. You read online and all their literature and it will tell you this.
I bought a pair of Bose speakers. Found them for about $10 less a speaker a week later. Made sure it wasnt special or clearance or sale. Went back and was told that CC has an agreement with Bose to not sell their speakers or products for less than advertised price.
Their price match does not state anywhere that it excludes certain brands or cannot match for certain reason.
Bottom Line... just because a company is big and Brick and Mortar and been around does not mean it honors its advertisements. I do not shop at CC ever since then.

This was US Navy Recruiting btw.
Just my Two Cents from several years back.
