I think the latest version of Flash comes with the ability to create Power-Point-like presentations. I know it's not as impresive as 3d accelerated graphics, but it is more impresive and cheaper than power point alone.
I see that as Open Source funding.
You make a program for a client. You could sell it to another client, or you could document it and release it under the GPL.
If it is useful someone could extend your job and it may become a large project.
That's exactly my point.
Because you started with open source, you didn't need to pay microsoft/oracle/sco to do what you do.
You didn't spent money in yearly licence fees and I guess you invested all that money in your business. So any of those companies saw the money the could get if their product were the best for you.
See the same at large scale and suddenly big software companies are dying. My point is if they wanna stay alive, they'll net to work with an Open Source friendly business model.
Yes, of course. That's what has happened in the last years. But look at microsoft now, losing clients everyday because all that people chosing linux.
I don't see that as a bad thing. I just said that if they want to keep in business, they need to change their business model.
Blame all than open source/free software out there. If a software company want to survive, it must try with a different business model. Maybe based on service/support and not just licences.
I am a dial-up user. Sometimes when I try to send email, I get a message from the SMTP server saying that my IP address is blocked from sending email because it's on a spam blacklist. Of course I'm not a spammer. All I have to do is to reconnect and I usually get a non blocked IP address and I can send email normally. I think you can avoid this thecnique the same way. Imagine the following scenario:
1. A worm-infected b0x calls a dial-up server. 2. Its IP address gets blocked. 3. The same b0x reconnects and gets a non blocked address and gets blocked again 4. GOTO 2. 5. Another user with a non-infected b0x calls the dial up server and his IP address is blocked by the previous worm-infected b0x with that address.
Maybe the whole dial-up IP pool could get blocked.
There is a file: c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS in windows/etc/host in linux
just add entries like this: 127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net
For every ad site you see (maybe keep ads.osdn.com). This will change every ad for a Not Found message if you have Apache Server running (unless your machine is an ad site) or nothing if you don't have a web server.
The good news is that according to the image in the article, this cache thing is in the right side of the brain.
Alcohol acts in the left side of the brain first. So you won't become stupid by drinking without affecting functions in the left side of the brain first.
I study at ITESM in Mexico. According to this link, we have a good place as one "organization transforming its businesses using networking technology". I think that includes WiFi acces. We have access in the whole campus!!!! We should be listed!!!!
I don't know about goldenhawks, but burnatonce deppends on the windows API, wich is exactly my problem (my cd-rw drive is detected by windows as an standard cd-rom).
"For example - CD Writing software for windows. Does anyone need or even want all the dang crap that comes in those?"
Yepp.. sometimes windows fails.
In my laptop, suddenly one day windows stopped detecting my cd-rw drive. It's now detected like a standard cr-rom drive. So i can burn using the windows API.
I tried changin the drive-type value for the drive in the registry and now i have the recording tab when I right-click the drive.
Still ISO recorder Power Toy doesn't detect the unit as valid nor the "Write this files to cd" wizard.
I had to install Roxio Easy CD creator (which works perfectly) in order to burn cd's again.
