The cat has been out of the bag for a very long time as far as making your own killer microbe. Hell, you can order kits to teach kids how to grow thier own antibiotic resistant germs, all you need is an incubator (or anything (can you say old oven) that you can hold a steady temp at). Publishing this sort of this would do no harm, and would significantly speed up drug research, and drastically lower prices. In any event the very huigh end stuff you need for gene sequencing is already tightly control, so no, Osama aint going to be making a "super anti-Satan" germ anytime soon.
My sister-in-law is an accountant, and we bank at the same small credit union. So one day I snnek a peek at my brother's check book an go get on-line that night. I move one dollar from my account into his, all you need is his number that is all. I figured it would throw her off for a month and that would be that. As it worked out though the deposit happened - it failed to record on her accounts. This drove her stark raving mad for about 3 months being off by a dollar. She finally went in and I guess they hand went through her deposits and what not. When confronted about it I made the defense of "But, I owed my brother a buck - he didn't think I would pay up, but I did, sorry forgot to tell you." My brother had to physically restrain her:)

I helped a young friend out by putting in a HD for him - he tells his friend - and I end up droppping in a HD for his friend as well. Well this kids folks come over - and his father wants some work done as well. He does some steel rolling - I need some steel work done. We strike a deal. So I get free steel rolled and this kid gives me a $100 gift card. And I get free baby sitting out of his sister.... all for dropping in a HD, and building this guy a comp.
My father tells stories of getting his milk out of the tank and eating the clotted cream with a spoon - would like to try it sometime. (I had to reply an ID less than 1000 is like being addressed by an army major - you will acknowledge them!)
My wife and my workplaces are 45 miles apart... live next to one be far from the other...oh and the middle ground is one of the most crime infested areas of the Twin Cities
Let me guess - you are an american. I know it is hard - but you have never had a freshest eggs in your life unless you have your own chickens (I do.) Perfect tomatos??? they dont exist - unless you are talking about those flavorless things from S. America that you buy. Fresh milk? See eggs above (I dont have cows - but have milked them) And if your loaf of bread is soft - you either a) got it out of the oven or b) are eating white bread. Truth be told the van that brings you groceries is no better(or worse) than picking out your own stuff.
Mad Cow disease is a disease of prions - and from here
IV. PRIONS
Prions are extremely resistant to conventional inactivation procedures including irradiation, boiling, dry heat and chemicals (formalin, betapropiolactione, alcohols). Most procedures reduce infectivity rather than eliminate it. All treated contaminated materials should be discarded through the infectious waste stream and incinerated. Use DISPOSABLE plastic labware whenever possible.
Complete and sign the Notification of the Proposed Destruction of Select Agents Form
EHRS will notify the PI or lab manager when destruction is approved.
Inactivate prions by one of the following methods:
* Autoclave dry waste at 132 C for 4.5 hours.
* Treat large volumes of infectious liquid waste containing prions with 1N NaOH (final concentration) followed by autoclaving at 132 C for 4.5 hours.
* Treat with phenol (1:1); guanidine hydrochloride or isocyanate (>4 mol/L); 1N NaOH (final concentration); sodium hypochlorite (>2% free chlorine) for 24 hours.
Dispose of inactivated prion waste as infectious waste.
Somehow I doubt you can made good fuel this way. Besides which I personally still wouldnt touch the stuff even after all of this had been done to it. And that is what I teach my students as well.
I have a get rich quick scheme and I need your help. Those helping me can be at the bottom of my pyramid scheme, and will get millions of dollars, 3" of wang and all the heart meds you can count with a Cray. Just invoke my ip and I will make you a nigerian just for clicking. I promise....really
I admit it is only going to run low power games (being able to drop RAM in would be nice) but the stats for it are not that bad - 2 USB two ports - chain me up a keyboard, mouse and a link to the net. 20gb of storage on a x86? Yeah - I can run linux on that. If the price is right it looks to me like a fun little linux box (MAME, xmms, xine, and anything else you want) hot swappable batteries and video out?? Might be the "portable" computer (drag it everywhere - plug in as needed) that everyone hasa been talking about. The video chipset even looks nice. Will it run Half-Life 7? No, but could it blow the pants off a GBA? Yeah, I think so.

Well, if you are then, how about you stand against that wall over there.... good, a little to the left, thank you. Now it is, um, well, its revolution time, and as you can see, you are up against a wall. Sorry, this is going to be a tad loud, dont worry, it will only last a moment.
How very honest of you. I think I will look very seriously at this book because of this. I am a software hacker and have always wanted to know a bit more on the hardware side. Thank You.
No lie - to this day (10 years later) they still remember my lessons - these were not super star kids just normal ones. They say it is the teacher that makes the difference - In ny case that was true. -
I have said it before - I will say it again. My greatest hope is that Bill G. has his wish come true. Total DRM/uncopyable media. You are 100% right, MS got where they are today by folk being able to pirate thier stuff. They are the new latin. I do truely hope MS products become uncopyable, for that shall sound thier death knell. I have to admit - I was gifted an xbox, and I give the games in general a big shrug. I was even given a copy of Halo...very dark, random and for God's sake give me back my trackball! Off track sorry, but this can only increase thier mindshare, and that is never a bad thing - this is why MS is a monopoly
"Billy!! Billy!!! Dammit! I TOLD you to never play with that boy. His family are one of *those* kind, you know the ones I have told you about." "But daddy, why can't I play with emacs users?" "Just you listen to me." "Yes daddy." he runs off. "A little harsh there werent you dear?" "What?? Oh sure, do you want him to grow up and marry one of those BSD types?? Do ya?"
Oh yeah, cant wait for geektopia when all is good and wholesome and we all live off the fat o' the lan.
Just like - To save my child, I would gladly give my own life. Suicidal??? No, not really. Its called Altruism - look it up - it might help you out a whole bunch. Truth be told if the stakes were *really* - ETERNAL life for all of Mankind vs NOT. Suicide as you define it - looks damn good.

We have a number of old laser discs in the department and as one by one the players fail over the years I began to try to hunt down the original copywright holders. Long story short I eventually did, but even thier legal department had no record of ever owning the things. They had bought the company that had bought the company that originally produced these (educational) laser discs. So here we are with 40-50 of these things and n way to leaglly copy them even for internal use so that our instructors can use clips of them in lectures. This is just plain stupid. At least with this that would be a sunset on this whole mess nstead the info on these and the hours of craftmanship that went into them with laguish and die, while some damn fool recreates the same type of stuff over again. Yeesh, take a microbiology class.

Let us not use the term "Open Source" with the word "mooning" shall we? Certainly goatcx is not "Great on Film!"
