We already have one at http://snipurl.com/4yaj Note: SIGNUP to the Yahoo PsoriaticArthritis forum is required in order to view or add to the "Bad Doctors" list, and submissions must be made through one of the forum moderators. Whether you sign up to view/add doctors to the list is irrelevant, but I thought I would point out that such lists do exist and our PsoriaticArthritis forum is just one such example. We also have a "Recommended Doctors" list. These doctor lists are primarily intended for keeping track of good and bad rheumatologists since rheumatologists are of utmost importance to those of us with psoriatic arthritis (psoriatic arthritis is similar to rheumatoid arthritis). You wouldn't believe some of the horror stories some of our members have related about their rheumatologists, and you might be interested in signing up (approval is automatic) just to read some of the stories.
It's true that the government spends my taxpayer money, but I think that since it's my money I should be the one to spend it on things that _I_ want, not things that some bureaucrat wants. I'll tell you what, give me all your money and I'll promise to spend it on good things - Ok? (or at least things that I think are good). I personally would rather choose how to spend my money myself.
There hasn't been a government budget surplus since the 1800's. Presently the national debt is over SEVEN TRILLION dollars and the annual interest on that debt is over three hundred billion dollars. See: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ and http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdint.htm
I already pay monthly bills for water, sewer, trash collection, gas, electric, and gasoline taxes are supposed to finance road construction and maintenance. The government provides me nothing whatsoever in return for my property tax. Moreover, property taxes are charged for undeveloped land without any of those services even if it's out in the middle of a desert.
While we're at it, why don't we just abolish property rights entirely.
Property rights to homes were abolished long ago. You may think you own your own home just because your name is on the deed and your mortgage has been paid off, but in actuality it belongs to the county in which you live. You rent your home from the county. The county calls the rental payments "property taxes." You can of course transfer your lease to someone else by "selling" your home, but that's a misnomer - in fact you are simply transferring your lease to someone else who must continue to pay rent to the county. If you doubt me, try refusing to pay your rent (ie; property taxes) for awhile. The county will repossess your home and kick you out on the street.
Show me a government where 99% of the existing programs have been cut, and I'll show you a smoking disorganized unhappy desert hellhole anarchy wasteland...
Is that how you would describe the first 137 prosperous years of USA history prior to the implementation of the income tax in 1913 before burdensome government programs began to be implemented?
"... not all Libertarians are the total nutjobs that you describe"
What the hell is that supposed to mean? May I remind you that the original purpose of the federal government was primarily to resolve disputes among the states? There was no individual income tax, and the federal budget primarily consisted only of the money required to pay Congressmen's salaries. These days the federal government consumes about 40% of the GNP and is tantamount to an oligarchy. Article 1, Section 8 of the United States Constitution grants Congress only 19 specific powers, and none of them (except for counterfeiting) permits the federal government to pass laws regulating the conduct of individual citizens. Such laws were only within the purview of the individual states.
Inasmuch as one of the primary purposes of the government is the defense of the country, the present 18% budget expenditure on defense is probably justified, but other than that all the myriad entitlement programs, federal government agencies, etc., could and should be eliminated, resulting in a federal government that is minuscule compared to it's present ponderous and burdensome size.
No it won't happen in your lifetime. Only about one or two percent of the populace vote Libertarian, and the rest are happy with the status quo. If there were enough people to overthrow the existing unconstitutional government by force, there would be enough people to elect Libertarians who would cut the size of the Federal government by about 99% and restrict it to the powers granted under the U.S. Constitution.
Because of the induced eddy currents and consequent heating of the aluminum particles in the deodorant it might singe the hair in your armpits though,!;-)

I took a look at the main Fastmail web site and was going to subscribe to either the "Full" or "Enhanced" service, but I had a question about the difference between the two plans because there is a discrepancy between their detailed description and the "Sign Up" description. I sent an email to their "Support" email address (support_AT_fastmail.fm) and got back an email saying I had to jump through some hoops before they would accept email from me.
They just lost a customer, because if I have to go through that kind of crap just to ask a simple question about their service, then I want nothing to do with them.
"First, as other posters have pointed out, the person who posted the article misunderstood the claiims. But the applicants and the USPTO also demonstrate ignorance."
Actually I was just quoting from the WSJ article which said "... a tiny Austin, TX company called Bluecurrent has been awarded patent No. 6,636,857 covering the Internet installation of any software or settings on new computers." I only glanced at the actual patent briefly. Since I am not a patent attorney I thought maybe the patent could be construed as the WSJ specified, so rather than write a novelette about my interpretation (which would have surely gotten my submission rejected), I simply quoted the sentence above directly from the Wall Street Journal article.

I wrote the firmware for the Meteorological subsystem (MET) of MPL (known at the time as Mars Volatiles and Climate Surveyor - MVACS). It was quite depressing when MPL crashed after myself (and many others) had worked on it for so long - particularly since the MET package never even got powered on!:-(
It looks like you've substituted a scanning LIDAR for the Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) Spectrometer that we flew (or intended to fly) on MPL, and I assume (and hope) you are using a different microprocessor than we did. The UT69RH051 (the UTMC rad hard version of the 8051 microprocessor) has a very serious design flaw that we didn't discover until after flight testing had started, that causes dropped interrupts if the serial port is used in full-duplex mode. If you do happen to be using that same microcontroller, you should be aware of this advisory issued by UTMC:

Best of luck on a successful mission, and may the Phoenix rise from the ashes of MPL!:-)

P.S
No operating system at all (neither open source nor closed source) was used in the meteorological subsystem of MPL. The firmware I wrote was a single program that ran on the "bare metal" of the processor board, and used interrupts to effect time slicing (in effect, it was its own operating system).
The most glaring flaw in Lynds' paper is that he ignores inertial (mass*acceleration) force and higher level derivatives of mass*velocity with respect to time. While it's certainly true that if a body were frozen in position at a particular instant and its acceleration, rate of change of acceleration, etc., were all zero, then it would be frozen in space and remain stationary forever (unless acted upon by an outside force). However, that is NOT the case with any moving body. At each "frozen" instant in time, a body also possesses an instantaneous mass and acceleration. It is the force due to this acceleration (F=m*a) that causes the body to continue on its path. Lynds never even mentions this fundamental property of all bodies possessing mass (ie; inertia) in his paper at all.
Furthermore, it's obvious that physical objects do indeed move through exact points in space by merely observing the following:
Let's assume that our ability to measure an object's position is limited to "delta", and that we measure an object's position at position A= 0 meters +/- delta, and also again at position C= 2 meters +/- delta. Although our ability to actually measure the object's position at point B= 1 meter is limited by +/- delta, it is quite clear that the object did in actual fact have to pass through a position corresponding to precisely 1 meter whether we were able to measure it or not, simply because the body must pass through all intermediate positions in going from point A to point C.

Why is it that some drugs (Humira, Enbrel, Remicade, etc) aren't available at all under the Canadian government's health plan?

Although you have lots of choices for your long distance provider, I don't think anyone has a choice about who owns the wires coming in to your home.
How about http://thelist.com/
TPS??? That term doesn't show up in any of the acronym finders I've searched.
It would give an entirely new meaning to the term "Blue Screen of Death"! ;-)
I wonder what the average age is of Microsoft employees? ;-)
