Why not install Linux on that box & run Win2k in a virtual machine? A bare-bones Linux install + VMware Server (which is free and Free) would be possible.
Well, I'm actually in a Panera, which also has so-so sandwiches, salads, soups & baked goods in addition to coffee. However, I did have to click on a splash page from what I assume is their proxy server before I could access the internet.
You do realize that you can choose the ringtone, upload a ringtone of your selection (on certain phone models), or even set it to *not* ring at all? As for the home phone - again, depending on the model you can set it to not ring (and on some VOIP services it will alert you on your television or on your computer that someone's trying to call, along with the number so that you can screen the call).
To me, people that brag about not needing a cellphone are just as annoying to me as those that use their cellphone inappropriately.
Funny you should mention that...in 2000 we had an incident where I worked at the time (big webhoster near DC, with several Fortune 500 customers along with a few major government entities). Seems like a janitor was in there vacuuming & somehow hit the Big Red Button, shutting down about 30% of our customers. Talk about fun (both recovering from that, & having to give major concessions in order to placate our customers).
Why would this information even on a portable drive? And why would it not be encrypted?
This is why I try not to use my Social Security number for identification purposes anymore. I really should try to figure out who has it & what I can do to reduce the use of it.
I'm going to buy the best hardware I can afford, & if that means Samsung then so be it. I have 2 Samsung hard drives (no problems), a Samsung DVD burner (no problems) & a Samsung laser printer (no problems, & it even came with Linux drivers). Maybe I won't buy anymore Samsung products from now on, but I'm not going to stop just because of one cross-license deal. I'm sure just about every major technology company has a cross-license deal with Microsoft, are you going to boycott all of them too?
It's a long drive from the US to an Indian Wal-mart. If you're referring to tech-specific jobs, just about all the minimum-wage positions that can be outsourced have been in one way or another.
You do realize that most routers have logging turned off by default, & also that if someone has compromised the admin password, they would probably deactivate logging (if it was on)?
The guy that designed, built & launched a (suborbital)
spaceship ? Or the guy that's actually selling tickets for
spaceflight (which qualifies as
commercial by definition).
Wal-mart didn't have a national presence until recently. I had never seen one in my area until about 4-5 years ago (Washington DC metropolitan area). It was my understanding that they tended to avoid cities when opening a store, instead concentrating on suburban & rural areas.
Yum is *not* useless with RHEL. All you have to do is rebuild the yum package, point yum.conf to a repository (we created one ourselves), set a cron job to get updates nightly and it works fine. I did this while on a contract last year for a client whose systems were on a secured network & could not access the official servers (incidentally, they also saved about $20k US by not getting RH Proxy Server).
Most winter sports are inaccessible to a lot of the world, not just because of where people live but also the expense (it's cheaper to buy a football/soccer or just run around than it is to buy hockey equipment, skis, etc). Does that mean we shouldn't have the Winter Olympics?
I think the real reason baseball was dropped was because the International Olympic Committee has a stricter drug-testing policy than Major League Baseball, & the MLB didn't want to get potentially involved in any embarrasing scandals.
What about the heat of the cloaked person/tank/whatever?
Even more important, wouldn't motion detectors still work against this?
(Note: and for those yelling about the
Philadelphia Experiment, I think that's a myth. If the US really had tried it & failed (*especially* during a war), they would simply have kept trying until it provably did or did not work - no way would having a few people go insane or die have stopped research).
If following the DoD
Security Technical Implementation Guides
doesn't count as a rigorous investigation, then what does? Note that they cover most of the common (and even uncommon) operating systems.
We (the DoD office were I worked as a contractor last year) had random scans on both classified *and* unclassified systems; any that weren't meeting the STIG guidelines were taken off-network and somebody (usually the system admin for that particular system and/or his/her supervisor) got a written reprimand.
OK, so the Professor couldn't a) use the stars to figure out where they were in relation to the nearest populated area and/or b) figure out that he could use the magnet in the radio to make a compass?
Captive does a suitable job of reading/writing NTFS partitions. you do need 2 NTFS driver files from Windows tho, so if you're a license purist then it's not the solution for you.
Why couldn't the Natives open their own online casinos?

I don't know if it's actively in use, however it indicates that there is at least 1 JFS available for FreeBSD.

I spoke to lilo several times a few years ago, just around the time freenode started. My condolences to his family.
What if she's menopausal? Likely, considering she'd have to be over 35 to run & she'd probably be in her mid-50s to early 60s.

Step 4: Get fired, then be sued for sexual harrassment (and possibly for breach of contract as well).

There's a third thing: the state not wanting competition for their state-run lottery.
Talk about hypocrisy...

Yes, I know I'm being pedantic, but still...
Honda Accords are/were inherently secure (as a previous poster stated, & from personal experience they can be stolen with a flathead screwdriver).
Chuck Norris is the reason there's only 1 ninja left - he killed the rest & he's saving the last one for a special occasion.
