What the hell are you two talking about? Seriously. Both of your statements are wrong.
OEM Windows WILL activate online, it doesn't always though. Sometimes you do have to ring up, usually if the number has been activated too many times but sometimes just straight off the bat.
To say that the OEM keys are specific to a particular OEM and that you need the disc from that particular manufacturer is just utter codswallop. I've reinstalled literally hundreds of laptops, all from exactly the same set of ISO's I keep on my server.
I've watched quite a lot of the stream, right from when there was still a massive bit of pipe hanging off and oil was pissing out everywhere. From what I've seen they've got nothing to hide. I've even seen shots for the ROV's sitting on the decks of the ships.
Really, who cares? They photoshopped an image for aesthetic reasons, big deal. If you don't believe what's going on you can watch the streams yourself.
Explain to me what you think TFA is on about then. From what I've seen so far, you've missed the point completely. What do you think cached passwords are?
I can't remember the last time Virgin/NTL switched my IP. Been with them 6 years now, recently upgraded to 50mbit, couldn't be happier! (Note, the Dlink router they give you will take DD-WRT)
I doubt that the homebrew community will spend the effort to reverse-engineer the next Nintendo hand-held when they could buy a cheap, open cell phone for the same price.
I think you're REALLY underestimating the homebrew communities. They'll hack it just because they can.
Unless you're still using a cell phone from the 80's, I don't think weight is going to be much of an issue.
Too true.
These things have been available for years. Also the link to the patent is wrong.
ozmodchips are selling it. They're a reputable company. If this is fake I'll eat my hat.
Ahh right, so the HP laptop with a HP Vista Home Basic 32bit that I just activated online was in my imagination?

You guessed wrong, just like nearly everyone else above you.

And you run this tool from the article where? On your cellphone?
My point is valid and still stands. The tools I linked to are EXACTLY the same.
None of this is new or amazing, I honestly can't believe something as basic as this would make front page news on /.
Check out http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/#password_utils for password recovery tools, for free, that have been available for ages.
Ideal for Wifi use, cos they don't work on the cell networks properly
You're reading the wrong article. Your quote comes from the Reg article I linked to. In the article from the summary, it's wrong.
Nice try though.
Nicely expanded upon anyway. :)
Probably because I called iPad owners idiots, the fanboys jumped on it. I still think iPad owners are idiots though.
It's not just the headline, it's the summary and the article too!
This DOESN'T infect the iPad at all. It targets the idiots who bought an iPad but it is a WINDOWS virus.
See here for further details : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/26/ipad_backdoor/
Dunno why that came out AC. I didn't tick the box. Yay /.

LBP is incredibly boring. It was fun for the first few hours, but soon got tedious.
I have exactly that setup. The Asrock box is a fantastic little bit of kit and it runs XBMC like a dream.
Blaster was the original, Welchia was the cleanup.

You get the Media Centre on Pro as well.
