This deal with USPS delivering Amazon packages on Sunday is only an experiment in limited areas of the country, and may take years to be fully operational. Amazon is planning on having their own fleet of delivery vehicles in the not too distant future for same-day delivery, so it may not long before Amazon tells them to forget it.

You don't pay sales tax on newspapers, but if you buy one from some retailers, you pay sales tax. That's illegal and they still get away with it.

You don't pay sales tax on labor, but you better look at you bill from your local garage before you pay it. Some charge tax on labor and try to get away with it.

What I don't understand is that if you buy something while you're on vacation or while you're working in another state, you pay the local sales tax where you buy the product and your home state doesn't give a rat's ass about it. We need better discipline in schools and less political correctness. Zero-tolerance should be replaced with common sense and mature judgement. Teachers who can't teach (even if they know their subject backwards and forwards) should be fired. It should be possible for anyone with the proper qualifications to teach whether they have a "teaching certificate" or not; imagine a person retiring from IBM teaching a computer class or a retiree from the financial field teaching economics.

It comes in handy because you can fill the one you leave at your base with spare tools and extra food, and take another one to the mine. 25. Re:actual "platform" on A Ray of Hope For Americans and Scientific Literacy? · · Score: 1

Let me explain this to all of you. You've probably heard the old expression, "time is money", and never thought too much deeper about it. Well, time (i.e. our life) is all a person ever really has. Nobody knows how much time they have so that makes it a precious thing. We work and give part of our time (life) in exchange for a paycheck. When somebody DEMANDS that we pay a part of that paycheck (part of our life), and let the government give it to them, they are in reality demanding to own part of our life. That used to be called slavery.

I don't mind paying taxes for things that "promote the general welfare". You all misunderstand what the hell that means. It's not welfare. It's things that benefit everybody - roads, schools, defense, police, fire protection, road signs, etc.. It's simply wrong to take money from the public and give it to an individual. That's the job of charity. Oh, you say charity doesn't give enough? Probably not enough for somebody to have a big flatscreen, a cell phone, a new car, and such, but it can provide enough to keep a person alive.

The worst thing you can do to the poor is to make them comfortable in poverty. Make it a little bit miserable and they'll have an incentive to put forth more effort.

Now mod me down, kids. I haven't lived 60 years just to listen to the "wisdom" of brats living in their mom's basement.
