That may be partly correct, but as I remember it the main reason for pricing gasoline in liters was that the gas pumps could only work with prices less than a dollar. Hard to charge $1.059 per gallon if your pump has only the three digits to the right of the decimal point. Hell, some pumps didn't even have a dollar sign $ on them!

May I suggest that a lot of slashdot readers don't really get the connection?

Do you not believe in love? Prove to me beyond a reasonable doubt your love for your parents or your children or your spouse. Tough to do, isn't it?

Now consider - "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." Yep, self-sacrifice is the proof, but it doesn't always mean killing yourself. Most of the time it's just putting the wants and needs of the other person ahead of yours. The philosophy is simple and it works.

Take that thought to its ultimate conclusion and there you'll find God.

Oh, you'll ask, why then does God let bad things happen? Easy. Bad things are permitted to happen to bring forth from them a greater good. Watch life, learn how it works, see the way how everything that should be, is.

Merry Christmas! May you all find the peace that you seek.

Go a step further and only allow donations from individuals who are eligible to vote for the person they're giving $$ to. That would cut out $$ from corporations and money from outside the district (or city or county or state).

Also allow individuals to donate money only up to a certain percentage of their personal income. That way others couldn't give them money to donate. It wouldn't make sense that someone making 40K per year could donate 500K.

I've been to too many games to remember in my 58 years, and I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather watch it on television. You can see things on television that you'd never see in person.

It's all about perspective. The players have theirs, the fans at the game have theirs, the television viewers have theirs, and the camera showing all 22 players has its view. One is not "better" that the others; it's all about choice.

I'm not a meter reader. I check your gas service and meter for leaks. If I can't get to it because of a locked gate or a vicious dog, then you're on your own. I just write down why I can't check it and go on my merry way. See you in five years . . . . if you haven't blown up.
