"Somewhere between First Amendment rights and total repression there is a practical middle ground."
Niiice....now we have to compromise our rights...I guess I'm lucky I still have a FEW, 'cuz they could take them all if they wanted to! They must be doing me a favor...gee, I'm so lucky!
If you went to the site, you'd have seen it's not a car, but a harness-type seat where a restraint comes over your shoulders, like all coasters where your feet are left dangling.
AFAIK, The companies themselves get paid based on actual sales. The low-on-the-totem telemarketers, the ones that actually hit the phones, get paid based on how long they can keep you on the phone. What I like to do is drag them out... TM: Hi there!! Do you enjoy magazines?
Me: Why, yes! Yes I do!!
TM: Well, we have this great offer...blah blah blah Me: Wow! That's impressive!
TM: So would you agree that you could save a substantial amount of money by subscribing?
Me: I sure do!!!
TM:Well, let me just get some information from you, and we can start the subscription process!
Me:No! *click*
Sometimes, when they ask for my fiancee or something, I'll tell them to hang on, then give the phone to her 3 year old. I have to admire the tenacity of them, tho! One of them actually talked to the kid for about 5 minutes!!
So, why is it unlikely that HUMANS have a non-genetically determined smell? What makes you so certain that it was the smell that made the tadpoles prefer certain ones based on DIET? And how could "Pfennig et al." REPEAT a 1992 experiment in 1990??
I read the books AND saw the movie, and I loved it!!!! I always thought that the books would make a great film, and was elated, and still am, that they were finally translated to a visual medium.
I just hope to God that the Ents are still IN this one, and not written out like poor Tom Bombadill-o!
Possibly due to proliferation?

DSL Rising

Is DSL expanding faster than cable? That may be a cause for the increase in signups. I know that if cable was available where I lived, I'd dump my DSL in a heartbeat.
FWIW, I had to use a satellite connection for the first 3 months I lived out in the boonies, and I consider myself lucky that it was that short a wait!
People want broadband, and when options are limited (as they were in my case), they'll take what they can get. ANYTHING but the dreaded 56k!!!
I'm also amazed that the allegedly technical slashdot audience has not yet figured out that in order for these "bandlink" CDs to work, the user would need to install special software on their machine.
We have. Read the comments before you post.
Yet later on down the road, you'll find yourself popping it into your DVD player, still finding ways to fund Hollywoods back-asswards view of quality filmmaking, despite your rants here.
That only makes sense..I mean, unless posting reviews itself is some sort of hobby for you, you're only going to post something if you absolutley LOVE it and want to sing it's praises, or absolutley HATE it and want to warn others of it.
I don't notice as much at home, with my DSL...but when I'm visiting my parent's with their 56k, it's excruciating on some sites, especially since the ads always load before the content.
I was typing this paper once.
It was a really good paper...
But then, my fingers started getting all cramped, and I couldn't feel my wrist. Plus I was typing slow.
Then I switched to Dvorak.
Now my wrists feel great, and I'm flying across the keyboard at 75 wpm! I finished my paper in record time and got an A+.
My name is Kevin, and I'm a student...
builders are having trouble selling new houses right now, how can you expect him to compete with his 1-3 year old house that maybe needs a fresh coat of paint inside, maybe some nicer carpet, etc.
He would be at an advantage...generally, older houses are worth more...real estate value goes UP with time.
It is, albeit in a illegal leaked alpha form. No link provided, understandably.
Thats what an interview is...you (and I) want a debate.
how did that get modded as funny? It sounds more like an insightful, with the apartment idea.

When I read the topic of your post, I thought at first it was some sort of Jedi Mind trick...

...and blocking pop up ads is stealing.
Or, a PT job there, so I can have the employee discount.

That's kind of a fucked up thing to say...can someone mod that down to, say, -1000?

1. Can your computer play MP3's on your stereo in the living room...?
Yes.
2. Can your computer display photos on your big TV in the living room for the entire family to see?
Yes.

Yeah, I agree...

But certainly not we, the readers of said ad.

LOL thats what I get for reading things too quickly.
The key phrase there is "on subpoena". He's still gonna have to get a lawyer.
