They are. Apple are being blatantly disregarding the law and they will be made to comply. For what it's worth, in Portugal we get the full 2 years warranty in Apple products so it's probably a local distributor thing.
Say what you want of Bill Gates and his business tactics, but his foundation's work on eliminating malaria is truly amazing. Give credit where credit's due, sir, even though you may not like the guy.
The Magalhães project (laptop per child) comes loaded with, and supports Linux and Windows. All teaching software runs in both OS, they're functionally equal. So yes, I'm pretty sure that teaching software runs on both OS.
Literature. Seriously, pressing a button on the side is just like turning a page and the flicker takes much less time than physically turning the page on a book. I honestly don't know what the expectations of people who get annoyed by that flicker are. I've read tens of thousands of pages on my kindle and it's a damn nice experience...
I honestly think you're grasping for an argument here. Ebook readers are made for one kind of book, and only one, and they absolutely excel at doing that. For anything else, dead tree is the way to go. I mean if "books" for you means reference books then no, ebook readers are not for you.
I used to be like you. I have about 1500 books. Then I got a kindle and I'm converted. Just give it a go, it's actually damn good technology done right.
You lack understanding of basic economics, trademark law and, well, common sense. You keep talking of "greedy MBAs" but being perceived as having around 10% of their education certainly doesn't help whatever cause you are promoting.
Yeah gods forbid I actually enjoy something you don't. I must surely be a MS shill. *I* enjoy it, you don't. Accept it and move on. Go join the mindless iphone drones or something.
Dude, I'm talking about something you can go to a store and play with for a couple of minutes and you're replying with MS DOS? Btw Amiga "lost" because of the inability of Commodore to produce any kind of updated hardware at decent prices after the A500, but what do I care I had an Atari ST myself! At any rate I'm not saying WP7 will "win" anything and frankly I don't care. What I'm saying is that it's as good as or better than anything on the market today (except perhaps the beautiful WebOS). Just, you know, pick up a phone and give it a go. I sell Linux for a living and I got converted to WP7 because it is superior to Android, not because of MS marketing.
Lack of turn by turn is indeed annoying though. There's a couple of 5eur apps on the market that solve the problem but I admit it's the one point that does annoy me. It's a minor issue for me though (I only drive to commute), but I agree that MS have dropped the ball on this one.
Have you used it? After using iphones, high end Android phones (SGS2, LG crap), my WP7 phone with mango is BY FAR a damn better phone than anything else in the market. I was as dismissive as you until, you know, I actually used one.
I guess since you thought my ID describes my profession, asking of you to require proper analysis before proclaiming an argument "valid" would be a bit too much.

It's not the case with Portugal. Teaching software has to support (and in fact does support) Linux and Windows.
Yes, what's next? A first-person perspective Fallout sequel?

I'm talking about the Kindle in particular, but that's probably because I haven't really used any other ebook readers.

I know you're probably trolling, but MS are offering free phones to developers pretty much for the asking.
Those scores seem fair to me...
As far as I know it was "patched out" pretty much days after XP was published.
That would be today :)
Have some cake and chill out dude...
But what about the worms...
All current WP7 phones will get a free upgrade to the new OS come November or so.
I sincerely suggest you try out a Windows 7 phone. They're a damn amazing experience, whatever their shortcomings.
I was talking specifically about torrents.
Do you really think linux / oss torrents account for anything over 1% of bittorrent traffic?
You're doing it wrong then.
Good point there!
