That just means that a person who has an IQ of 100 today is more intelligent than one that had a IQ of 100 decades ago. It doesn't change the definition of IQ, which I only just bothered to look up:
"The ratio of tested mental age to chronological age, usually expressed as a quotient multiplied by 100."
That sounds like "a good interviewer puts up with everything", and I don't think so. That would be corporate "journalism", not good journalism. A good interviewer aborts the interview and spends the saved time on people who have something to say! Mind you I didn't even RTFA, just a general comment.
A 14 year old with an IQ of 100 is, per definition, as intelligent as the average 14 year old. A 14 year with an IQ of 150 is as intelligent as the average 21 year old.
Whoooo!! Flood of hilarious games. Now all that's needed is some open source coders with lots of physics knowledge and lots of time on their hands -> TEH ULTRA-YAY! Think that stair/truck dismount shit! I guess there might be more constructive purposes for a 3d engine, but as a gamer I can't think of any myself =/
WTF? They simply concluded that 12% of the phones they looked at where infected with that thing - what you make of it is your choice. How is this "just another knee-jerk pogrom against a new technology, wasting money that could have been better spent elsewhere"?? Nuts.
I take it you have no fucking clue what kind of revelation and gamers dreams coming true HL2 represents.. I mean the physics.
The only way around halflife2 is another game using the havoc 2 engine.
Valve doesn't care about you? Think of it as a *really* hot chick wanting you to be something you're not. Usually you'd say screw that (no pun intended), but if the hotness is too big you'll end up in that janitors uniform going "quack, quack!".
Uhm, people usually end up dead sooner or later. So is it really that much worse if we all got shot right now? That's the "principle" of this thing, we slowly die and end up dead.
That's absolutely ridiculous. The point of the job isn't to annoy a few hundred people a day, its to sell a product to people. The annoyance is merely a side effect of the whole thing.
It may not be the goal, but it is the MAIN EFFECT. That you don't get that is very typical. If telemarketers were rapists they'd say "hey, hurting and/or traumatizing a female is not the point of this, not at all.. you see, it's just about this tiny innocent blob of jizz, it really doesn't harm anyone blahblahblah".
Are you familiar with the hitchhikers guide? =D
"They'd probably be out raping grandmothers if they could figure out a way for it to pay the bills." I don't see how you drew this conclusion. I work in a call center (IT department, not sales) and I can vouch that most of the sales people are, in fact, not rapists.
Heh, that only means they didn't find a way for it to pay the bills!
Never mind that it is uncommon for objects to move 600 pixels/sec unless you are moving your view quickly, which most people will ignore outright except to scan for basic images in the mess that goes by.
Yeah, most people. Gamers on the other hand will turn their view a lot *and* track what's going on around them. A lot of this happens subconsciously (ie. it's fast) - for this a good framerate helps a lot. And an object crossing the screen in under one second isn't that uncommon, just think quake3 and jump pads.
I use Windows Update consistently for my Windows box, and it works great and reliably. The FUD surrounding the "user is gambling" anecdotes is amusing though. I can only remember them releasing one patch that was truly borked.
Yeah, you. Are you the average majority, ridden with random apps and spyware and sporting 7000 icons on the desktop?
But, if you believe the safest route to Windows is to leave it unpatched behind any firewall I hope you are never in charge of any networks. I'm sure even your non-Windows machines are amazingly insecure and waiting to be exploited.
How is this +5 informative? Unless there is an exploit for DNS or ftp auth I'd say you're kinda safe. Of course exotic needs demanding exotic firewall configurations might differ. Using windows update doesn't make it amazingly secure, it just stirs the shit:>
It would seem that the lesson here actually is not to use Microsoft OSes.. waiting until the shit hits the fan and windowsupdate gets hacked for real seems dumb to me =/
As a compromise, I suggest as teh lesson of teh day an old computer with a router linux on a floppy disk =D
It's not so important that they blamed it on GTA - there are other games, and then there are gpong to be Half-Life 2 mods.. what is important is that kids get BORED and shoot at moving vehicles..
Maybe I'll comment on the lack of creativity in games by developing a "Time to Weapon" measurement. After all, sooner or later all these FP games have weapons, so therefore this must be a lack of creativity.
You're an idiot. Of course most FPS have weapons in them. But that doesn't automatically mean the same type of weapon. Just all FPS have "stuff" in them - but that doesn't mean it has to be crates.
"Weapon" is a generic category. "Stuff" is a generic category.
A "Knife" is a specific thing. A "Crate" or "Barrel" is (more or less) a specific thing.
Isn't that more like switching the channel because the current one only displays snow? You could call that quitting too, I call sensible priorities.

So there.

Oh yeah? And what about editing content? Download, edit with text editor, upload? I don't think so.
Hmm, are you sure?
A 14 year old with an IQ of 100 is, per definition, as intelligent as the average 14 year old. A 14 year with an IQ of 150 is as intelligent as the average 21 year old.
So, it IS 100 by definition as far as I know.

It might be worth the humiliation.
Actually, it won't be revolutionary until it involves putting marketing people up against a wall... :>
Advertising and the military merged a LONG time ago. We call it "democracy".
Uhm, people usually end up dead sooner or later. So is it really that much worse if we all got shot right now? That's the "principle" of this thing, we slowly die and end up dead.

wild eyed, hardcore leftists ?
Okay, I made up my mind. Don't go to war without provocation. Thanks =D

I haven't RTFA. but I guess with enough muffling it'd be effectively silent for those on the ground..

They paid thier dues when you were in diapers.
And we are paying our dues while they are in diapers. What's your point?
