Well, all it takes is a bit of social engineering to convince most users to disable the pop-up blocker for their site (after all, it's only like two clicks with the mouse). And really, do hackers care if they can infect Linux?
But because of the internet you can easily get in contact with someone from europe. In fact, it seems you are not like most people, because you are in contact with a european right now.
All my phones have had sidetones (at least if I've gotten the term right). Have you ever tried blowing into the mic on your cell? Then you can easily hear the sidetone.
But the problem is, if you know enough about computers to install firefox and the siteadvisor plugin then you don't need it (that much).
Joe sixpack on the other hand would never use anything but IE and google, so one of these two things must change. And google is by far the easiest one of them to keep updated.
If you do not want the port blocked, call your ISP or go to their website to cancel the "service" - no questions asked.
But 95% of the users out there do not need port 25 for anything - in addition those users are probably more likely to have bad computer security
But the problem is, if google bombs become commonplace nobody will talk about them. Then they just annoy anyone who really wants to know about miserable failures, or whatever word is being bombed
Those analogies you come up with are stupid, of course. Nobody would even begin to distrust cars just because the mob uses them. But not every PHB or Joe Sixpack has a clear idea what OSS is about. Suppose I told you that the terrorists uses "Bligwams" (disclaimer: not an actual word) to do evil deeds. Then your employees come running in a month saying they could do a better job if they had a bligwam, you might not be that willing to give it to them, because you associate them with terrorists / evil deeds. Even if they do a good job explaining to you what a bligwam is, you might fear that other people associate bligwams (and thereby your company) with terrorism. So yes, the article is indeed FUD. Not in MS-league, but just a little bit.
Speaking of witch, What exactly stops MS from incorporating a crippled version of OpenDocuments, thereby changing the standard (like they did to HTML)?

IANAL, but isn't a patent invalid if you can prove prior art?
Not knowing about BlueJ hardly means an inventor is incompetent
I'm new here, you insensitive clod!

Phishing websites. Why should they be careful about the security of the user?
Not if it runs Linux.

- But GP should have set up a dead mans switch posting a "success" note here on slashdot

Oh, the irony...
A turning complete LEGO factory? Exiting!

Oh shit! When?!?

um how about the US has literally 10 times the number of people to deal with?
So? you have 10 times the people to count 10 times the votes
... Or have I just seen too many war movies lately?
of course, it's Venture Capital(ist) in case you were wondering

It kinda irritates me that there are no pictures of this thing

I *think* USPO has prior art on this one. But no worries, just append "...over the internet!" and you are home free.
From an old ars technica article, 15 vids (30-45 mins each) with MS programmers talking about and showing the system:6 /1/22/2614

the thing I like most about Vista (or what i've heard about Vista) is the new per-app volume control.
I haven't even heard of this game before this media-stunt. Better go tell my mom I want it for my birthday
