If I remember correctly, standard text-modes offer the ability to change the palette with six available bits per channel, giving you a total of 2**18=262144 possible colors in text-mode. That's the way the "copper bars" effect is made, although it usually just used simple shades of red (for simplicity). (Look up copper bars here)
That might just have been because AOL began bouncing all e-mail from Telia -- mainly due to the same problem as they have now. What would you have done?
I think this is a good thing. it stops the relays now and those affected will notice it, call the support, and be informed of why they were cut off.
Yes! This question is wrong in so many ways. They could just as easily have asked: "SCO is going to charge $699 for every Linux installation. Many Linux users are afraid they might be sued for not paying for their kernel. Do you plan on making the safe choice of sticking with Microsoft Windows?"
In the name of science, please do not dignify these sort of polls with publicity. Not even with a slashdotting.
Example: "Explain why a Macintosh pull-down menu can be accessed at least five times faster than a typical Windows pull-down menu. For extra credit, suggest at least two reasons why Microsoft made such an apparently stupid decision."
Well, let's try to calculate it anyway. Assume that the IP can be written av x1.x2.x3.x4, and that all values of xn:s are equally probable (which is wrong). In that case, we have P(xn has three digits) = 156/256, P(xn has two digits) = 90/256 and P(xn has one digit) = 10/256. For the IP address to be at least ten digits, either of these groupings must be the correct one (the numbers meaning the number of digits):
The probability of the combination 3.3.3.3 is P(3 digits)^4; the probability of 3.3.3.2 is P(3 digits)^3*P(2 digits); etc. Now, if we sum all those probabilities of all combinations together, we get 0.767, which means a whooping 77% chance of an IP being longer than nine digits!
Speaking of scanners and science. Remember this guy (as mentioned here)? We actually did something similar. 2400 dpi is enough for 78 rpm records, and you can get sound from vinyl. Of course, it's noisy, but you can still hear what the song is like.
I believe the Rover is just haging out at the Mars Bar.
Sorry...
Come on, this is getting old. The people decide the way they use their language, not a corporation.
I think the Leningrad Cowboys have contributed profusely to Open Source.
Or how about Evil Empire!
Google vs MSN
Hey presto, 16 color bitmapped mode.

The look on your face when lightning strikes and your G5 explodes in your face:
priceless.

That would be KC.
From the same material that vampires are made of.
Damn, you 1.
2.0 bad (2.0+2.0) you.

Wait... exchanging C for K? Obviously it must mean that SCO will be claiming that they own KDE as well, now.
Neither can I.
So... what are we talking about?
...Kraftwerk's lastest album was made on a laptop.
The name GUI Bloopers made me think of this.

The questions and answers are quite interesting.
It's one line of nerds camping outside the cinema, waiting for the LotR ticket release, per average time between dupes on Slashdot.
I'm not good with statistics

Naw, it's just that you don't have any non-geek friends. :-) (Okejda, jag kor ocksa ICQ.)
Thank you, Mr Coward. Greek is, as you can see, not my native language.
Look at those groovy colors on my screen, man! Totally psychadelic!
Viri happens to be the plural of latin vir, 'man'. Although, some (probably not men) might agree that that would be a suitable plural of virus :-)
I followed a link from slashdot, and all I got was this lousy 500 Internal Server Error message.

Scanners have real world applications! :-)
