It seems likely to me that most people who have an iTunes account have already purchased their music.
Since they are the market leader in mp3 player sales, almost all of those sales must be upgrade from older versions and shuffles.
In which case those people already have their back catalog purchased. It had to even out eventually. Once it's been purchase it won't be purchased again. Only the new members of the iPod/iTunes family will be buying back catalog. This seems logical to me.
I think therein lies the problem. What's not to complain about. You hear "It just works" every third ad on TV.
You decide to get an apple. It' doesn't "Just work" in some cases. Of course people are going to be pissed. They paid a premium for a premium "Just works" computer, and it makes noise, doesn't read CD's etc..
They constantly put down PC's. Fine. But don't pretend to be the be all and end all, if your products aren't. People used to using PC's will switch back, because they know the problems with PCs and are prepared for them.
You can make an icon in paint.
an icon is a bmp with the extension changed.
The first pixel in the upper left denotes the transparency.
Granted it won't give you sizability, but if all you icons are 48x48, just make it 48x48, and save it with a.ico extension.:)
The very first Simpsons listing has nothing but the commercials.
At least it knew it was a Simpsons episode, but if the only thing you're gonna get are captions from commercials, why bother?
I do it because the flashing blinking bouncing flash based "rich media' is so annoying that I can't read the content, because my eyes are distracted.
It's like the bottom of your television being eaten away by ads now.
If that was constantly flashing and changing "as I'm sure it soon will be". You'd probably duct tape the bottom of your screen so you can pay attention to the tv show and not the ads.
I have see this on a screener. the spots seem to move in time to spell out something. like those cheap clocks that have an LED that sways back and forth quickly.
It looked like it said C O P Y but who knows. It was a screener. the image was so blurry it didn't matter.
I found the clip on google a while back when I first heard about this.
Don't remember the search string now. sorry.
It is out there though...
Yup. That's what it's coming to.
Along with Coke ads above the urinals, and tampax in the stalls, and McDonalds posters in the cafeteria, if there isn't an outlet actually there...
I think the problem with this is that we really don't have a say in it...
Walmart buys hugely unquaified amounts of each product. At volume discount prices there's no way for the Mom & Pop to keep up.
Look at Starbucks. I hate their friggin coffee, as do most people I know, but they go there, because it's the only place in the neighbourhood....
Huh. a lot of DVD's [pr0n] work, but if you've got 64 or more in Ram on your card, likelyhood has it, it won't copy to your HDD. I've got a 64M Radeon 7400 and it looks like it copying but when you play it, only the top 15 pixels actually move. The rest is a static picture. Welcome to analog DRM...
The other question I have is, what's with the planned obsolescence? I have old LP's that still play. You think 10 years from nw that boxed set of the Eagles or Zepplin you've got on CD will play on a new player? No. because it doesn't have encryption, so it can't be read at all. There fore you have to buy it again, and give the MediaCo's more money for something you already legitimatelly own.
With 8 Tracks, you could copy them to a cassette, and since the sound wasn't great, it didn't really matter. 8 Track players are gone now, but you could still listen to that cassette you made of it.
Now, you will have to buy the same thing over again, because media shifting is now illegal. I think this is wrong. The MediaCo's shifted from cassette to CD, and tripled the price. With the sudden surge of money they got they should have been able to front more money and produce more entertainment. Did they? No. They let Clearstream [or whatever they're called] buy all the radio media outlets, released less artists, with less variety, sold less copies, and had a temper tantrum saying people stopped buying CD's.
I didn't stop buying them, I just didn't hear anything I wanted to own. Why buy it when I am forced to heard it on the radio 6 times a day no matter what radio station I'm listening to?
The problem goes a lot farther than DRM and copyright. This is a plan to keep people spending money on entertainment, without producing any more of it. I have all the music I've ever purchased on CD and cassette, on my hard drive. The originals are in binder sheets under my bed. If new music comes out that I want to hear, I'll turn on the radio for a minute. Likelyhood has it it'll be the next song.
Movies? same thing. All the ones I care to own are on my hard drive. The rest I'll rent should something good come out. I'll never get bored of the music I have. I have half a lifetime's worth at my fingertips.
They can do all they want to the medium they distribute they're content on; it'll only hurt them in the long run, as people will one day reali[sz]e they have 5 copies of The Eagles Greatest Hits, in 4 different formats, and only 2 work, but each of them only in specific players, and each of them cost around $15-$20...
We have had this system in use for over a year now in Toronto, Ontario. We have 10 digit local dialing, as we have 3 local area codes. The 1 is only necessary for actual long distance.
It is a very frustrating transition to make. You don't realize just how many pre-programmed numbers you use in day to day life until someone asks you to change them.
All the numbers in my mobile, same with my home phone. Then you get to work and have to reprogram your desk phones' speed dial. And don't for get your fax machine.
Trust me this is something you will get used to, but it's a hell of a headache adjusting.
Oh yeah, and if your building entrance uses your phone for entry, you might want to check with your super and make sure he/she changes it. Ours was down for 2 days....
I got 4.5% of my income this year.
I'm not complaining...
We're a large chartered bank.
Last year and the year before were 6% and 7.5% respectively.
I'm happy to get anything at all.
I did click it open in a new window to see what it was.
You're right. It worked.
Then it popped up Casino On Net. So we're right back to square one. I don't want to see that junk. So now I know not to click on ad links in your posts, because I'll have to chase down the casino ads.
It only takes one time for a person to learn...
We have Grocery Gateway in Canada. They even deliver alcohol in Ontario ;-)
Yup. I work in a downtown Toronto office tower, and all our elevators and escalators are Schindlers.
I've never seen a single episode either. I came in to see what fans thought of the ending. I know a lot of people who watched it.
Zen, Zen Vision, Zen Vision M...

It's not software. Pretty boy's jumping out of his box to play whie PC guy is waiting for other boxes to arrive. Sounds hardware to me...

This line is a shameless request for a gmail account
Got one yet? freshie@gmail.com
Nope. Not one. Not braggin' just impressed..
I've had Gmail since May, and haven't received one spam yet...

LOL I did.
Bah, and it doesn't work in Firebird. They're loss...
Not the world. Don't count us all in on this. It was your idea to do it. Not a general planetary agreement.
