The claim that black people have some kind of "privilege" where their crimes against white people are ignored (LOL) and crimes by white people against black people are sensationalized
Well, that does seem to be the trend on the national news these days. Stories of black on white crime, even some bad ones don't seem to get the publicity that white on black crime does. And, from what I understand, more whites are killed by cops annually than black are?
1. Often it's cops doing it, and cops murdering anyone running away from them or sitting in a car is news.
I agree with this one..horrible. But horrible if a person of ANY race is killed by the cops unjustifiably. ALL lives matter.
2. Dog bites man != not news. Man bites dog == news.
Ok, this one, I'm hoping I'm reading your wrong, but this seems a VERY racist statement on your part?? Is the analogy of the role of Dog ==Blacks and Man == Whites? If so, you're saying the norm is for Blacks to kill/commit crimes on whites...which is so common place, it isn't really news?
That's the translation I'm getting from it....? If not, what did you really mean?
Just great, I'm guessing to cover this, Netflix will once again raise their rates for streaming and rental of BluRays?
*SIGH*
Just remember, every new above and beyond benefit they give out like this ($15 for a burger flipper?), YOU the customer will have to pay more....it will be passed onto you.
You are implying that getting an abortion isn't life changing... and also that it isn't a bad decision.
No big deal to me really.
Better than ruining your life if you are young, being saddled with a kid and debt that you cannot afford. Sometimes rubber break or the pill doesn't quite work right.
It is nice to have this option to rid yourself of a mistake or accident.
"The only appropriate sexual dialogue between tech workers" IS none at all, as long as there's just a slim chance someone might be offended, and it's stupidly immature not to get that in one's head, and as long a such immature offenders constitute a significant portion of tech workers, organizations like the Ada Institute are totally needed.
Or..they could actually grow a bit thicker skin, and ignore people and their words that don't mean a damned thing, and be professional and get their job done.....like most people do.
Quit crying and deal with the real world that isn't all sunshine, rainbows, unicorns and people at are at all concerned about your self esteem.
This is the real world, deal with it....I'm talking to BOTH men and women.
And don't forget, the rich assholes who refuse to spend money to fix social problems
Seriously?
Spending money does not and CAN not fix social problems. We've seen the beautifully exemplified by the non-success of the War on Poverty we've been waging for decades.
You can't buy your way out of immoral, uneducated, violent social problems that many of our US sub-cultures embrace. It has to come FROM the community itself.
If nothing else, the throwing of $$ at it and many programs meant to give help, have become ways of life for many that became generational cultures of dependence, and anger....and the loss of family and family values being passed onto the kids.
It has to come from within the people of the community themselves, you can buy it or legislate it.
That sucks. Jesse Wellens is already pulling in more than a half million a year from his YouTube prankvsprank channel. Did he really need a few extra dollars from extra publicity that he was willing to mess up Hitchbot?
You're kidding, right? Sure, there is probably a greater chance of such a thing happening in the USA, but there are plenty of vandalas, morons, and drunk idiots in western Europe too, and it's perfectly likely that some such people would do something similar given the chance. Don't try to make out like Europe is a paradise of civility.
Hey, It's not like the robot got shot or anything....
I think by nature, in general, men are more warm natured than women. I know I've frozen girlfriends out at my home, especially at night when I like it at least 72F at night to sleep well.
But my argument is usually similar to yours. IN that, especially at work......if you (a woman) are cold, you can put on a sweater or something.
But me? I legally can only get just so naked before there's a problem.
Damn...it is gonna get mighty cold in them houses up north, on cloudy winter days with snow piled up halfway to the roofline when the solar panels are damned near useless, no?
I think the problem with your A/C unit is the location. It appears to be located in an unbearable hell-hole:-)
Yeah, but on the other hand.
Come Oct/Nov....I'll be wearing shorts outside for Thanksgiving and enjoying the weather while much of the US is indoors freezing their asses off already...so, like anything, I guess it is a trade off.
I dread the day that the fun and thrill of driving is possibly taken away...kinda of the Red Barchetta song coming true.
Sad, I love my cars...and every day I get into one and fire up the engine, is an adventure.
Life is too short not to have fun and some thrills in life.
And what cost? Even a burger flipper can save and get a basic car, if you have an education and a real job, it isn't like it is draining your wallet in a manner you even notice.
"Electric cars will be better than any alternative, including the loud, inconvenient, gas-powered jalopy,"
Seriously, do people not like the throaty growl of a well tuned engine? Heck, even kids today put the coffee can mufflers for at least that type sound (I don't find it as pleasant as better, large engine sound, but to each his own.)
I mean, right now, I'm kinda looking at the new Dodge Hellcat Challenger, 707 HP (underrated) bone stock..and MAN, do these things sound good to me. So happy to see a muscle car once again available on the market...harkens back to the muscle care days of the last 60's and early 70's, but with better modern tech, braking and handling.
Me? I want one of these to play around with I think:
Will a Tesla out drag this car? Sure. But what fun is it when it is silent? If I had an electric car, I'd almost have to mount speakers outside and give it an engine sound. Cars are meant to be FUN as well as a means for getting from point A to B.
Unlike most air conditioners, inverter air conditioners are always-on.
Hmm...apparently you're not familiar with "AC" Air Conditioners in the New Orleans area.
My Air Conditioner comes on basically late April and does not shut off till about early November.
:)
Frankly, I don't know how people lived down here in the old days without A/C....not to mention looking at the old pictures from the 1800's and so where men have full suits on and women with 14 layers of clothing on, and deodorant not really being prevalent either...UGH!!
But yes...my A/C really never shuts off all summer, which down here lasts for about 6mos of the year or so, give or take.
If you're not planning to use your cell phone also as a Credit Card...then what other uses really are for NFC?
I'd not want any of my CC info on a phone that can be stolen and cracked into. And from the article, apparently not that many people out there are even using NFC functionality, so I'm guessing to many it is no great loss.
What all do you use NFC for so much that it is a deal breaker for you? Seriously curious.
I don't have any problem with the account verification though - it's just a variant of the 2-factor authentication so don't complain too much, it may prevent you from getting your account hijacked.
Well, I just would rather not give Google my cell phone number...
Does this finally mean I'll be able to post replies to my own YouTube channel and other's videos?
I have my account, that predates Google taking YouTube over. I've resisted all these years going to G+ or giving them more information....but for that, Ihad to give up being able to post comments and replies not only to other peoples' videos, but even to my own.
This will be a welcome change if that works!!
Now, if they'd also do away with trying to occasionally "verify" your account with a phone call. I fear I"m gonna have to go get a disposable phone for that one day...but hey at least this is one step in the right direction.
Oops, PHil...appears you've been regularly stopping off at bar on the way home, that's gonna be a bit of a risk to us for your health ins....

What exactly does this stuff TASTE like?
Damn...it is gonna get mighty cold in them houses up north, on cloudy winter days with snow piled up halfway to the roofline when the solar panels are damned near useless, no?
Slashdot has ads????
Yeah, but on the other hand.

No, I just had it checked, is a good system, etc.
It is just THAT fucking hot down here, and humid. A lot of the AC time on is to dry the air out in the house.
I like to keep the temp about 74F during the day time I"m here, and about 72F at night to sleep. That's comfy to me.
But it gets HOT here at the end of April usually, and we don't even start to get breaks in the heat and humidity till about mid Oct I think....
Well, I've been in a LOT of #1 type houses here (they still have 100's of year old homes here, and it still ain't cool enough.
And even wearing linen...single layers are still too hot, much less the many layers they seemed to have worn then.
I"m just guessing they were a LOT tougher than we are now.
I dread the day that the fun and thrill of driving is possibly taken away...kinda of the Red Barchetta song coming true.

Hellcat Quick Burnout
Or this for a bit more in-depth review:
Review..skip to about 1:33 to get past the opening commercial

Where the hell do you live where this is actually a law on the books???
Bring Back Cowboy Neal!!!!!!
