I agree, but wonder if this is a generational thing. Any teenagers here care to comment?
Example, I own Doom3, played it once, yet I downloaded loderunner for my phone, and played it nearly continuously. Do kids who never played the old games growing up feel the same?
Interesting - thanks for the info. IDEA just fucking rocks beyond all belief. So much so that I actually paid for it, in spite of having access to a full keygen.
(BTW, use antialiased Andale Mono font for the editor.. looks so good...)
I definitely think that SageTV is the best Windows tv software
Hear, hear! I went with SageTV, as it was by far the best performance of any of the other Windows-based PVR I tried (BeyondTV, GB-PVR, some others). The others had nice features, etc, but simply wouldn't run on the older system I was using to build a PVR (500Mhz Pentium3)
I haven't seen this in a long while, but my favorite weirdness with TBird was when daylight saving time started or ended, all my messages would randomly become marked as unread...
... now my eyeballs will become chapped even faster, as they stare unblinkingly while my brain is in an infinite loop trying to figure out what the hell is going on...
Shit, let me work on whatever part of out product I want for 20% of my time, and I could add some nice improvements. As it stands, the energy burnt off trying to get directors, product managers, etc to approve anything makes it too difficult...
I know about the mouse acceleration problem. Mac users may be used to it, but I was a long time Windows user before I switched and I can't stand nonlinear acceleration. Download this:

I was seriously considering making my next home computer a mac mini, and then I got a hold of an older iMac temporary to try OS X out. 3 things really bothered me though:
1) I can't turn off the damned weird mouse acceleration that OS X uses. I use a trackball, and like to have the mouse speed very high, but the accel. algo used in OS X drives me insane when you move the pointer slowly. I've tried all the settings I could find, up to installing MS IntelliPoint drivers, no luck...
2) I can't easily/freeely change the stupid mouse pointer..
3) I really, really miss having a tree view of folders, with files listed on the right. I deeply nest my files (for logical organization, etc.) In other respects, I like the finder.
Call me a Windows weenee, etc. But not having these available really slows my productivity.
Otherwise, have been very impressed with OS X, especially how well it performs on older hardware.
The problem I've ran into on the sites I manage is the posting of Unicode values via links, which seems to absolutely require Javascript (AFAIK).
For example, a list of non-ASCII user names/IDs which loads that user's information page when their each link is clicked. I've found that Unicode values do not always work as URL parameters.
Many times forms with submit buttons do NOT cut it in an interface, and so I'm forced to set hidden fields and submit the form via javascript.
No actually I meant something similar to the 13 monitor setup mentioned in the summary, i.e. using WideView software to run the 2 projectors separately. Difference being the 2 views would look at the same point, but their origins would be offset slightly to the left and right.
Rig up a dual projector setup in front of this sim Have the projected images overlap one another Place a polarizing filter over each projector Adjust each filter to be 90 degrees out of phase with the other
Slap on some cheap 3D glasses, and tada, 3D flight simulator.
(I think) Anyone know if this would this work? I've always wanted to try this.

kthxbye
Don't show the Gnome devs this:
Alto File Manager
it might end up being the next version of Nautilus...

Adobe is run by Marians.

Hey now, leave the Catholics out of this, it's the day after Easter you know

You are quite welcome. Are you using it for anything interesting that I can take a look at?
Yeah, I'll send a link in a month or so when it's ready, I'll email via your site.

Your Syntax Highlighting library for Java rocks, thanks a million.

Cool thanks, I'll check it out.

P.S. Picasa kicks iPhoto's ass, sorry.
Twice this week I've looked at the clock at 11:11pm, then the next time I looked it was 1:11am.
That's not a clock, you're actually looking at your cellphone, and your signal went from 4 to 3 bars:

What sucks about this game is that the environments used are not made to look like they're made of bricks...
This gives a whole new dimension for people with Mac fetishes....

Anyone know if if there's a better way?

Do tell, why don't you like our ChewbaccaMail product?
I've seen some signed Java Applet based spyware which will popup annoying dialogs (look around on http://cracks.am)
xxx_self_intersect
That sounds sort of, you know, obscene.
Heaven forbid anyone else would develop nuclear devices and behave anywhere near as recklessly.
I guess I'm a weirdo, but when I read of projects like this, I almost get tears in my eyes from man's ingenuity and abilities.
Considering the magnitude of what was being worked on, I think everyone behaved pretty reasonably.
