I bought the retail version of Windows 95 when it was released in 1995, and the version that cost $100 was just an upgrade. It needed either DOS or Windows 3.1 to install it.
Minutes? Pfft, I have had problems for solve() that took over an **HOUR** to do on my TI-89. However, my HP-49G+ took less than 10 minutes to solve the same problem.
The HP-49G+ uses a 75 Mhz Dragonball, but most of the OS is emulated Saturn code, so some of the math is just amazingly fast, while most of the stuff is just reasonable.
(If I rember correctly, the problem I was trying to solve was solve((a*x^2+b*x+c)*y^2+(a*x^2+b*x+c)*y+a*x^2+b*x+ c=d,{a,b,c}), or something close to that.)
Basically, it's cheaper to stripe your data over multiple drives or have massive RAM caches than to build special-purpose drives.
All that in a 1.8" single drive form factor?
If you are using a 1.8" drive, you already have stated that you care about space. Unless Micro-ATX motherboards and cases use those small drives, raid and a multi-head 1.8" drive seem to be going in opposite directions to get faster.
That is exactly the point: you can nuke the program partition, and reinstall everything, and your data will still be there on your data/home partition.
I do that in linux, and I have been able to move from red hat to suse to gentoo, all without erasing a single file from my/home partition.
Of the 32 megs of RAM in the system, when a game is playing, 8 are dedicated to the OS. Games can run many things that are in the OS, such as save/load, keyboard, network.
If the engine were running at 3000 rpm at 30 mph and 60 mph, then the efficency of the vechile as a whole depends on the rate that fuel is being used.
If the engine always used the same amount of fuel at a given RPM (not realistic unless you have a rotary airplane engine from WWI), then the car would be twice as efficent at 60 mph, because the fuel used per mile is 1/2, since the car is going twice as fast.
On the first computer I used, a TRS-80 Model 100, the Control key is next to the A button, and the caps lock is a tiny button to the bottom right of the keyboard.
How often does Caps Lock get used relative to Ctrl? Why was it moved? Even in Windows, copy, cut and paste use Ctrl.
I can map my keyboard, with xmodmap on linux, but it is hard to do that on a per user basis on a windows box, and I definitly can't do that on the windows boxes at school.
But.. but, what about: /etc/ssh/sshd_config ?
emacs -nw
Although, I prefer vi for editing config files and emacs for programming, personally.
The people enforcing the laws NEED to be held to a higher standard, because they have more power than a common citizen.
With power comes responsibility. If the FBI could get away with wiretapping the wrong person, how long before they wiretap anyone?
The question shouldn't be why not allow the police to do something, but should they be allowed to do something with the approiate oversight?
Just because I don't have anything to hide doesn't mean I shouldn't hide my life, using encryption and such.
The linux black screen of death?
I saw that, on my ps2 running linux 2.2.26 when I tried to mount a nfs partition from the ps2 to an openbsd 3.6 computer.
No hardware faults, but making use of a network service caused it to freeze. That, and the linux kernel on the ps2 is relatively ancient.
Does your 20 watts include a hard drive and an optical drive?
You would trust a bank to be smart about IT?
So, if my Bank has a website that requires IE, that is because IE is more secure than any other browser, like firefox or safari?
It's interesting that you already have decided that you must upgrade. Why?
.... it is new?
Who says he has any say in the matter?
Management, and PHB are going to upgrade when it is released, because,
Well, I do refer to mice that aren't optical as "male mice."

Something like that?
Your comment sucks.
And, I am naked.
When can I expect the call from your lawyer?
So this means I can't install Flash on my Xbox or PS2, both of which run Linux?
Not that I actually care, since I hate flash anyways.
Yeah, they had something like that in Undercover Brother.
Except that in that movie, it was a complex choreographed action.

Well, if you don't like songs for a size unit, how about a Library of Congress, or a DVD rip?
Heh, what would be fun to see in a press release is the capacity expressed in porn. "This hard drive will store 500,000 images or 1,000 porn movies."
That wouldn't help you if the any of the motors died, since all of the heads are actuated togeather.
/usr/portage on the platter that works.)
Also, if you get dust in the disk, all of the platters would be ruined in short order.
I do have a disk that has one failed hard drive platter, but I don't trust any of the other platters. (I store
Aside from that drive, which I think is quite rare, most hard drive failures take out the whole drive.

Actually, the psp is a little bit different.

The difference is, the GPL doesn't restrict the USE of a piece of software, just how you can MODIFY the piece of software.
EULAs restrict the USE of stuff, and prevent any modifications.
So, you mean "daylight aving"?
I did Solution B a while ago on my computer at work, but that isn't per user, and I can't do that at school.

So, Microsoft Vista has been neutered?
It can only take 3 commands.
is the first command
