I;m currently working for WMS Gaming.. the company Williams became... turns out video slot machines (the gambling variety) are *way* more lucrative than pinball machines which is a *real* shame because *my* 10p's invariably end up in the pin tables no matter what's new fangled video game is sitting next to them..

I mean really.. can we honestly sit back and allow a corporation to dictate the terms of survival.. to put a cash value.. to look for shareholder value from developments that might conceivably raise such a large proportion of the the world out of subsistence poverty... ?
And why aren't our governments beating these guys to these kind of developments anyway ? We just put a probe on a moon a gazillion miles away.. why aren't we throwing the same kind of money into a more nutritous grain of rice for everyone down here.. open source genes..
.. but all the same.. don't you ever wonder.. with all the productivity benefits the new technology brings why is it that we seem to be working harder for longer for less benefits, less pay and less holidays than we ever did before..

One look at the A-Team and there's noooo way they'll be wanting to pick a fight with us.. any race of beings than can construct a working atomic battle tank complete with grenade launcher and working DU-round ballistic cannon from the contents of the average henchmans backyard shed is *not* worth going toe to toe with... and I _pity_ the fool who tries to get B.A. up in that spaceship...

Ethanol doesn't go on for billions of base pairs and look very much like someone's designed a method for encoding, correcting and replicating living things.. it's algebra protein data transmission.. I'm not sure mr occam's sharpened the blade enough on this one yet...

Seen the situation so many times where companies spend huge amounts of time debugging, special casing and just generally mangling a bad design when they really should have stopped, took on board the lessons learnt and re designed with those in mind rather that attempting to jerry rig the existing code.

The trick is to keep your favoured network comfortably in the margin. Word of mouth will generally get it up to the the first, useful, mass. Publicity like this will take it beyond the second. Until someone designs the perfect scalable, mutating network we'll have to keep network hopping, staying one step ahead of the crowd who just wanna download Limp Bizkit and Jenna Jameson, in order to keep the peer set down to those people (mostly other geeks) with something genuinely interesting to share.. and members of Deviance, FLT etc..:-)
