The guy getting arrested might be an issue, but i am suprised no one is focused on the staggering amount of info the company was able to obtain about a non famous guy. 500 pages?:|. How many pages do they have on you?
We are talking about Data storage here, not a videocard or some other uncritical pc component. Advancement in PC storage should focus on making them more fault tolerant than they were in the past. Sure they are increasing storage capacity, but this still seems like a step backwards.
Ahh i understand, you are saying that "technically" its a federal crime to use someones cell without permission... just like its "technically" a federal crime to steal wifi.
They lost 24.5 million ( I wonder what kind off accounting they used to come up with that figure )... Also I wonder how much of that is offset by all of the publicity/sales they gained from the whole affair.
Why is it that most thieves have no taste? The BMW is okay, but most of that is tacky sh*t you could win on The Price is Right.
Why [is it that everyone doesn't like the same things as me]? [I wish i had a BMW],[ but the other stuff i don't like because it nots a hybrid toyota] [ everyone who is not like me sucks].
This a notebook that was designed specifically for one task. That task is to be a high performance luxury desktop notebook replacement. The choice to use 2 harddrives in performance mode (obvious power drainer) should further cement what market they were targetting with it.
Sure there will be some people who try to use this as a mobile notebook, just like there are people who will drive a hummer cross country.
I can see it now...
snoop dogg sitting with a laptop getting his hair braided on the porch; camera pans up to his head and snoop yells, "Not that Cornrow my shizzel". The camera pans back down and focuses on the laptop. Intel Logo appears

I don't like the idea of using subdomains to host large projects compare video.yahoo.com auctions.yahoo.com....to youtube.com ebay.com. I think yahoo would have alot more success if they made their services have both an internal and external prescense.
No one thought the Ipod had a market at $299

How the PS3 Hit $600

And its only a music player. The playstation is catering to the 18-34 market, lots of disposable income. A market that seems expecially willing to sacrafice large sums of cash on "cool" electronic devices. I think the ps3 will do very well, HT enthusiats and Hardcore gamers will drain the supply until the price comes down alittle. The xbox360 was and is still worth alot more than $399.

"must have made an equivalent effort, perhaps by starting earlier and working harder than others"
someone needs to find an example of one of those genius 5 year olds that can play the piano like they were taking lessons in the womb.

More popular than beer = Ownage x (10)^(10^100). Remember how many of /.ers predicted the downfall of the ipod when it debuted.

You lost me when you compared use of a phone to using a credit card. definately not in the same ballpark
