Dude, I didn't get that at first until I noticed it is Sunday, I have no interest in sports because I'm a geek, thus on/., so no there is nothing good on TV
Anyways, does this mean like illegial "art" as in tieing up 3 year olds that were stolen from there in a basement or somthing? I mean, what else is there that is considered illegial? That is just an excuse, the only thing censored from the net is kiddie porn, and there is a really good reason it is.
I totally agree, the CD drives back then also did not look like the one in his drawing, they were normally the kind where you put the cd in the case, then slide it in. Also, he has the power button drawn to connect to the mainboard, most computers back then did not have powermanagement like that, so he wasn't very accurate at faking old hardware.
Maybe if the p2p networks make a thing to use checksums to see if the transfer in progress is authentic and same as the original. Or someway to tell while it is sending if it is corrupted music or not.
Soccer moms will love it, they buy into all those ugly 'modern' cars. Change the body to really ugly, it's new and improved! So, this is the way of getting them to go from clunky suv to ugly new and improved envriofriendly car.
I think that this just says it all. I also think boobies should be one of the topics, CmdrTaco's wife wouldn't like that though, and they wouldn't get to make icky geek sex;P
I think the reason radio is doing horribly because it is such a closed market. I was about to start my own radio station, I looked up the cost of equiptment/etc, and it would have been achieveable to broadcast just to this town, and create a sucessfull radio station. Then I run into the FCC, They want $5000!! for a liscence, and it has to be renewed, and they take YEARS to accept your radio station, it is crazy. And now internet radio is dieing, because the RIAA wants money, but FM radio doesn't have to pay roytalies, how can they go on with this? The radio market is becoming closed to only congolmorates, if it were open, it would be much better, allow competition, so that things would improve.
I can use my palm pilot as a TV remote, is this illegial too now? The DMCA is getting a little ridiculous. Next thing you know, we will sign an EULA when we buy a TV or garage door opener. I don't think we can stand for this, somthing needs to be done to overthrow the DMCA, it is getting worse and worse over time. I can understand (not agree with though) why microsoft would want copy protection on the XBox, but now garage door openers? Somthing needs to be done.
Noone else has seemed to say this yet, and you all knew it was coming
First war dialing
then war driving
now war flying!
I think wired would be more practical, but wireless does have it's advantages, I just hate the damned dongles (drools @ powerbook). How do they control who can use it? Do they give out a different WEP key or whatever?
In response to the other comments, I give you the following to consider:
The Chinese government seems to be trying very hard to become more legit as far as its relationships with countries abroad.
The Chinese probably won't be bound to the legalities (Like american companies) of "digital rights" and "privacy protection" or whatever spin they're putting on this Big Brother nonsense.
Finally, what do the Chinese have to gain from selling a crippled product that can only run what all the other companies are selling at half the speed---That's right--nothing! Which is why they can find a niche by selling these processors without DRM.
All communist remarks aside, if the Chinese could market this the right way they could end up being in a very lucrative business.
Perhaps this is the time when we should take into consideration buying processors from the Chinese government (since they're making them now). I realize they may be slow, but if this DRM thing gets out of hand this sort of threat to the US chipmakers could be in order.
They have these things now about the size of an mp3 player, so you can just get what you take off kazaa onto those without having to pay:P And I think most people who look at pr0n are ages 14-17, so they might not make much money, and I don't think they are going to bother asking their 18+ year old friends to buy cell phone pr0n for them.
I don't know about this.

I don't know if they are running their own software ot not, netcraft says it is running RedHat but it could be them since it is based on RH. Thing of it is, someone who works with them has either gone nuts, or they have been hacked already, take look at their support page. Apparently someone doesn't like him. I hear so many things about Linux on the desktop, but there isn't really a big united project like MacOS X, everyone seems to not like somthing about a project, so they go and do their own, they all seem to look/act the same, the only way todo this right is to put some big money into that for motivation, but open source doesn't do a good job at that. Hmm, mods wont like that.. Linux RoX0rZ f0rEvEr - Give Karma!
The server seems dead, but here is a mirror, be nice to it. http://www.moderngeek.com/keyboardlights/ This does not compare the the powerbook lighting at ALL, it looks cheap:p The powerbook lights up the lettes on the keys, and this just lights up behind the keys.
Does it use the same technology (I think they said it uses fiber optics of some sort) as the 17" powerbook does? or is just little LEDs behind the keys? Because I've seen the backlight of those, and it looks amazing.
...it is not even news any more. Fact of it is, when you buy ANY product, you are not just buying the tangable goods, you are really buying a lisence to that product. For anything, be it a car, game console, or printer. In all situations, companies make money by not only selling the actuall system, but by also making parts for their systems. It is up to them if they want to make their system an open standard or a closed one. People will say, "well, I bought the XBox I can run anything I want on it, it is mine!" but technically, you also bought a right to use the software on it, or the technology to use it. Your liscence will tell you what you are exactly able todo with it. If the company does not want you to develop for it, than they have every right to have the DMCA protect them. This is not flaimbait, it is simply stating the facts and the way things are.
Despite what the revisionist historians tell you, there is no mention of the "moon" anywhere in literature or historical documents -- anywhere -- before 1950. That is when it was initially launched.
The moon is mentioned in the holy bible, and that was written way before 1950.
"All you need is Internet Explorer," says Doug Barton, the director of technology for Lockheed Martin Mission Systems, based in Gaithersburg, Md.
I think it is wrong because they are promoting micrsoft software and x86 hardware as if it was the only alternative out there like many places do, ugh.. Linux R0x0rZ, now give me Karma!
I've seen the freebies they give out to schools and what not... All it is, is a jewel case with the CD and a sticker telling you the license code. They love maybe $0.05 on each one and say it was worth $500.00 (XP or Office) and badabing! They will end up making back all that and more in the licensing year after year as they intend to do that this is nothing more that a great thing for M$ assuming that their plans shake out that way (as far as licensing is concerned).
Does no one realize that this ammount of retail cost to Microsoft is pennies in production cost? They're losing virtually nothing in this and it is a complete failure of the political system to prosecute them.
It is to my understanding that palladium just lets you play signed media, but the processor has to support it, it to protect against piracy, so that things can't be ripped because they will be encrypted with a (fairly large) key. The processor has the key that will allow you to play the media, but only do certain things to it, like not copying it. But I think until VGA/DVI/Audio Out are encrypted too, it will always be insecure.
If this thing could build everything by atoms it would seem that such a taste device could be accomplished. However I think that the intended use of it is for tech devices.
I just recieved a christmas update email from him and when I tried to respond to him it said the account no longer existed.
I saw his show a few months ago, I'm not even sure how he got my e-mail address though.
