  1. Incorrect Numbers? on Cost of Secrecy Continues to Increase · · Score: 1

I don't know, but if we can get the cost for keeping secrets, doesn't that mean that we probably know the secrets? I mean, it can't be that well kept of a secret if we know how much they are paying to keep it. I'd say the number is off. That was phrased very awkwardly, but that's what I'm sticking with.

    That's absolutely right!

I actually got about 7 of these fake e-mails from ebay. My instinct told me that they were fake, even though they took me to ebay's website.

The way I managed to figure out that they were fake was to go to ebay.com and try to find the page linked. When there was no mention at all of the linked page anywhere, I knew it was a fake. Just to make sure, I sent it to spoof@ebay.com, and they said it was fake!

Anyway, I'd suggest this method for following any links in any e-mail. I feel much safer doing it =)

I think it's a great thing, even though I'd probably never need more than one disc (which means they are $40 each), it would be something I'd want to invest in.

  9. They just aren't the same anymore on Losing Interest In Games - A Natural Progression? · · Score: 1

Sure all the new games have better graphics, better sound etc., but they just aren't as fun to play anymore... I also find myself playing fewer and fewer new games, but I just spent about 2 hours playing Wizards and Warriors III (on the Nintendo, not the emulator, cause it's better that way). That was a fun game! I think games these days are just lacking innovation; becoming stale. Every once and a while, a new game does catch everyone's eye (Super Smash Bros.), but for the most part, they are just doing the same thing twenty other games did before them. Also, games are far too easy (for the most part) these days. Many games released these days can be beaten relatively quickly (and usually without throwing a controller or two in anger).

  20. Boring on Are MMORPGs Too Complex? · · Score: 2, Interesting
I have played a few MMORPGs in my days, and I find that many of them just get boring after a while. It's all about just leveling and finding new items (although I do admit that I am pretty intrigued by the economies that exist in these games). I just get bored and don't feel like playing after a while. For me, it's not the fact that they are too simple or too complex; after all some of the simplist games are the funnies, and some of the most complex games are just as equally fun. I am scared away from these games because I know I'll just get bored of them really quickly.

I miss all of the more linear RPGs of old; you didn't have to form parties and invest tons of time into it just to gain a level, or camp an area to fight a monster there that spawns in 2 hours.

  22. I am stubborn! on Hardcore Gamers - Living In The Past? · · Score: 5, Insightful
I am personally one of the stubborn gamers that doesn't accept very many new games. And I can tell you why. They suck! I do admit this is a generalization; there are actually many games that aren't all that bad that come out nowadays, but most of them are just bad for one reason or another.

One of the biggest complaints that I have about todays games is the fact that they all (again a generalization) have to be in some sort of 3-D environment. What happened to side scrollers??? Some of the best games ever made were plain old side scrollers. I probably wouldn't mind the 3-D style that much if someone could perfect, or at least slightly improve the camera angles of most games. Very few games are actually playable as far as the cameraman is concerned. I recall Lakitu to be a very good cameraman, and he should become a teacher. Resident Evil could have definately used him.

I used to be a fan of first person shooters, but really, how many times can you remake Doom & Wolfenstein. There are five thousand FPSs out there, and they just aren't fun anymore. I was on a Counter-Strike kick for a bit, I did like that game, but it just seemed to get old after a while (although I'm sure I wouldn't mind playing it again).

I could lament about the poor quality of modern video games all night, but I just don't feel like it, I'm sure there will be plenty of people complaining for me. Pretty much, nine times out of ten, I'd just rather pick up my Nintendo controller (or even my Super Nintendo one) and play a good old Castlevania game.

Oh yea, Game Boy Advance games aren't that bad at all, they seem to pretty much stick to the old style, and I like that.

  25. G4 on On Videogaming TV Shows And Vitriol · · Score: 1
I used to be somewhat in to G4, I thought it was a pretty neat concept. But then it started to become pretty redundant and boring. They were constantly repeating the same shows over and over again and such.

I don't know, maybe watching video games being played is just boring, especially if it is only segments; one after another.

Besides, the information provided on the shows is borderline useless. If I wanted to know how to beat a certain game, I would think that it is just easier to look it up on the internet instead of waiting until 7:30 to see it on the tv.

It did have one show that I found somewhat interesting though. I believe it was called Filter (correct me if I'm wrong), and every week they created a top 15(?) list of video games in certain categories. That was pretty cool.
