But junk e-mail is more than just annoying, it costs Internet users and Internet-based businesses millions, even billions, per year. I just do not agree with this comment. Is there anyone from a business who can testify to billions of dollars lost to spam?
(Personally, I don't mind spam. It only takes a few seconds to delete)
Let me take a poll... how many slashdot readers are alpinists and are in risk of being buried in an avalanche? OK... now how many spend 18 hours in front of their computers downloading fake pics of Britney Spears? I rest my case...
The best beginners guide is definitely a trusted tutor. If you have a knowledgeable friend to help you get started, thats usually better than any book. Just make sure they don't have you run an obfuscated rm -rf/...
I found it funny that this article was on CNN.com, part of Time-Warner, one of the biggest corporations in the US. They themselves probably "donate" just as much money to politicains as they other corporations do.
if someone has access to a pirated copy, why would they ask MS for a discount, rather than just use the illegal version? maybe i just dont have an e-concience...
