    No the market sheet in question leaves it pretty clear. Fairplay and protected WMA and WMV will not play on the device.

    Zune software can import audio files in unprotected WMA, MP3, AAC; photos in JPEG; and videos in WMV, MPEG-4, H.264.

    Part of the reason seems to be because of the type of protection the thing uses for that whole share amoung people mode they are loving

    Right there you eliminated about 98% of the population, including people who swear they are AV geniuses, which is EXACTLY what Apples product is targeting, the huge portion of the population who think Tivo is a difficult thing to set up and who still 30+ years later can't program the timer on their damn VCRs.

    Holy shit... I just said 30 years ago about VCRs.... Im getting too old.

    No its ability to play "Play For Sure" is well known.

    It can't. Microsofts even been on record saying it, which goes into why they sold it off to another company and why a lot of the sites who used it are pretty PO'd at M$.

    Numark makes one of the iPod mixers out there, and I know there are a few more over 1000.00 dollar ones on the market now. As for who uses them, there are a ton now, infact Apple used to have on their profiles page a interview with one of them who's name escapes me. They even have grass roots webpages broadcasting about where they are playing and when like ipod-dj.com.

    Honestly most of the people I know still dont even use CDs although many are now turning to systems using one or two laptops because of how hard some tracks are becoming to find as a record. While I am sure there will always be pruists, people are moving toward easier ways, especially when you can get 2 iPod filled with days worth of music for the cost of one halfway decent deck.

    screw CDs, anyone who is hot these days uses laptops or ipods instead. Very few people actually use records, simply cause of the sheer amount of equipment involved and the dangers present with records or even CDs if they are poorly kept or transported.

    annnnnnnd a CD is not a physical object that represents your attachment? Honestly this is nothing new, records come and go with the croud. Grunge fans will remember how many of those albums where released on CD and record, I actually own Nevermind and the Rear View Mirror single myself. But then they faded away. This is nothing more than a revival the likes of the new style radios made to look like the 1920's models or the like.

    Because it's being done in HD. While the live action can hold up pretty well to HD (as it was shot on film), the SFX look like hell. I have actually seen shots of the FXs for the original done in HD and it was complete dog shit. This is a needed improvement.

    She wont have one for long. They usually allow them to have a seat because its tough to kick them outright without the person being able to use something to legally screw the people doing the kicking out. But they will make her stay so much hell (keeping he missinformed, talking behind her back, things that would be considered harrasement but hard to prove in court) that after 2-3 months she'll want to leave.

    Says who? Ease of access to the hardware? Yeah, because you've got to write for any possible hardware configuration whereas a console is a closed system where the configuration and components are always the same.
    Yes but 90% of those configurations are pretty much known. You can pretty much expect everyone to have x audio card using soundblaster of another companies drives, y video card using Nvidia or ATI drivers, and z prossesor. Are there usually bugs, yeah, but there are s few that often it comes to the buyer not the coder to account and adjust for them, with only the biggest getting patches.
    Oh yeah, you can program for the XBox using Microsoft's API or...you can program for a PC using Microsoft's API. Ever hear of DirectX?
    And thats the Xbox, which unless I am mistake is NOT the enitre market. Infact its not even a big player IN the market, nor is its sibling or the Gamecube. That could change very soon, but its not their yet Sony and the Gameboy are still kings. While you can code on a PC using Microsofts API's (and infact all games are coded on PC's regardless of the systems they run on simply because its easier to code on a PC than in the system like the old days) its not a sure sign it will work. You STILL need to test the code on a Dev Kit, even more so on a 360 as the API's DO have some differences from the PC ones. These kits can run a few hundred dollars to the 10s of thousands. On the otherhand code for a PC and you only need to test it ON A PC.
    In other words, you don't know what you're talking about.
    A sure sign that YOU infact dont know what your talking about kid.

    was the fact it NEEDED my university email to allow me to join. My school doesnt allow allum to have free email addresses, only students. While its cheap to get it, I saw no need to have a 5th email address. But facebook refused to let me sign up as a allum without one, so I said fuck it. Maybe if they would understand that not all schools allow thier students to keep emails then maybe more people might sign up to it.

    still wrong. Video games for computers are counted in the 100's of thousands sold.... console games are counted in the millions. look at any trade mag and you would see the computer game is slowly but surely becoming a nitch market. Infact the only place they are doing well, is in the puzzle game market.

    Hate to break it to you, but Computers are not the biggest market. Easiest market to code for yes. But not by a long shot are they the biggest these days.

    There is no reason to think that JUST because the images and such where going around the web, Dell wouldnt have recalled them any later than they had. For one thing the recall hardly effected Dell, as the batteriers themselves where Sonys fuckup not theirs (and as such are effecting Apple too and possibly other companes) Secondly there is no evidence that it was just because of the exploding battery incidents that they where recalled.... they could have been planning a recall well before this.

    well they finally dropped TOS to under 50 bucks a pop, so I finally feel justified to buy them, but I agree. My girlfriends Buffy DVDs cost less after 7 seasons than TOS did after 2.

    Except unlike Star Wars, where it took forever to get a copy of the originals on DVD (and even then they where not the ORIGINAL originals) Star Trek has twice now been released on DVD, as single 2 episode disks and as boxed season sets, once in a remastered version that cleaned up a lot of the scratches too.

    Come on Paramount has to do something to justify the fact that the Star Trek DVDs cost more than any other shows on DVD. Upon release they cost 115 dollars a season, TWICE as much as most other shows out there.

    Its being demoted because Pluto is part of the Kuiper Belt.

    Or at least thought to be, thats one of the big issues with this whole ruling, the scientists are actually guessing if Pluto actually IS in the belt.

    Basically it was a BS ruling because a lot of older scientists cant stand having 9 planets.

    Truth be told its a stupid ruling only made politically because a lot of scientists still hate the fact there is a 9th planet after 60 years.

    Except these new rules are broken much worse than the old ones where.

    By the new rule standards, only OUR solar system has planets (planets are only allowed to orbit OUR sun, not a star which is a insanely stupid oversight) not to mention if they DID make it other stars then they completely crapped on the mathematically possible chance of a double planet orbit (2 planets occupying a same yet indipendant orbit) is now said to make them not planets, even if they are planet size simply because they insisted on adding the whole independent orbit line JUST to remove Pluto which even by their revised standards would still have been a planet.

    It was stupid political science and every one of them should be shunned by the community not cheered on for playing politics. I garentee you in a year people will STILL be calling Pluto a planet and this change will mean absolutly nothing which it should.

    Except Service Pack 2 equals to what amounts to a 10.4.# release rather than a 10.# release in Apple terminology (IE fixing something that had already been out for a while. And Tablet and Media Center where system specific OSs that where XP but included other stuff to make their respective computers work.

    There are such significant changes from 10.0-10.4 that unless you know what your doing, they are almost different OSs. From 10.2 to 10.3 it very much WAS a different OS with filesystem changes and other features.

    I have gone through a number of palm, handspring, and Win Moble devices and my eMate despite it's size is still probably the best one out there. For a device thats been dead for ages I can go wireless, use it as a email device, type a report without distractions, pull up index cards, and just about everything else a moble platform should do without being flashy and running faster than any of the devices I have used since. Quite frankly the MIT laptop SHOULD have been a redesigned eMate. 99% of what they are trying to do with it is exactly what the eMate did except was expensive at the time.

    In FFXI land not all the 2000 accounts where banned (most got 3 day suspensions) and most where not for RMT. The users in question had been using flee/pos/warp hacks and or engaged in MPK or other offences. A large portion of them happened to be endgame players who where using cheats to steal or easily beat high level monsters instead of playing fairly. SE is now flagging accounts for punishment if they are caught cheating and depending on the level of your offence you could be subject of a ban.

    your talking about all hardcore stuff G4 used to have but most people found boring and lame. They do need to make money, not cater to the 5% who make a living out of gaming.

    That being said thier Icons show used to be able game history and makers and was actually very nice.... then they started doing shit like interviewing the Suicide Girls -_-. But for most of us there is just not enough game content out there. Most people would rather be playing games, not watching people play them.

    Not to be a appologist but do we really know how many people actually have this problem?

    I have owned a Macbook Pro since March and while I did have the weird battery swelling problem thanks to a parts manufacturer screwing up the battery casing, I never once had the whine, nor did anyone I know or any Pro's I saw at Apple Stores in the area.

    From reading around it also seemed like the same handful of people where making the most noise. While Im glad Apple is now fixing it, I cant help but think its not as widespread a problem as its being made out to be on the internet.
