  1. Re:How will this help on Hotmail Cracks Down on Spam · · Score: 1

Right on! The spammers will continue unabated but the innocent users will be sorely disadvantaged. In fact, they'll miss out on whatever spam-busting features their email clients have. Just another facet of the war on terrorism. "Nothing to see here. Move down the food chain."

Who would go to the movies? Pay $12 AND get *SPAMMED* with ads?! Not for thith little black duck.

When I saw the Phantom Menace there must've been 50 ads before the movie. I don't even remember what the movie was about because I was still pissed about it the next day!

I think I've been to the movies maybe 4 times since then. And I used to go pretty much weekly.

Also, 2 of those 4 times, it was IMAX. The second of those two times started with ads, which were followed by:

"This is not an IMAX movie. It's a 35mm movie on an IMAX screen."

I shouted, "Why didn't it say that in the newspaper ad?" Someone should burn them for bait and switch.

Word to the entertainment industry (and sports and SO MANY OTHERS). If you treat people badly, the reaction you're guaranteed to get is:

    "F me?! F you too."

That's just the way things are. Get a clue.

I hope they don't reduce the impact. I was blown away by THX1138 when it came out. Saw it on the tube recently and figured that the ONLY thing that needed to be done was to replace the shots of tractor-feed pages with video displays. That does need to be done. Everything else is fine. A brilliant work.

They (I!) don't know that /usr/share/[anything] exists, for cryin' out loud! I bought Corel Deluxe when it came out (no comments on why I shouldn't have it, please). I've installed it several times and I always have to go back to Windows because *I don't know ANYTHING about Linux*!!! Whenever I try to find out, it quickly becomes clear that whatever I read makes an assumption that I know about _some_ aspect -- but I don't! So I wind up no farther along. What is /usr/[anything]? Why is it set up that way? What's the overriding rationale behind it all? I've installed several other Linuxes too and I always have to throw them away cause I can't make them work with my DSL (or even with dial-up, and I _do_ have a hardware modem). Used the Roaring Penguin PPPoE client. Try to install, get a couple screens of errors, about which I know NOTHING! On WinLinux, it installed perfectly, without a peep. Doesn't work. Why? How can I know? I don't know anything. The PPPoE docs say don't be set to have your network card come up at boot. How do I stop it? Once I've booted, how do I bring it up? Dunno. Still haven't found out. You guys will know when Corel Linux came out. I've been trying to run it for _years_! And I still can't. This is a Bad Thing and should not be. Will I be able to do it after reading Running Linux. Maybe. But don't tell me about the resources available on the system, I can't USE the system! I tell ya... Once I get Linux up and working with my DSL, I'll never go back to Win.
