It's great if a company wants to treat their employees like family.
However... One thing that I've run into a handful of times that really creeps me out is when a manager says up-front at an interview that they want to hire someone who will think of the team as family. It's fine for the team to get along, but I think it's just creepy for someone to ask me to consider someone I've never met as family. And besides, I *have* a family. I go to an interview because I need *work*.
The way politics is in this country, Hillary could shoot someone in broad daylight on the National Mall and not only would she not be prosecuted, many of her supporters would still vote for her. "What difference does it make?"
Minor correction: an H1-B and a Green Card are two completely different things. For starters, a Green Card doesn't expire and allows a worker to work for any US employer. An H1-B is a temporary visa that allows a worker to work only for the company that sponsored it.
I'm more concerned about the three-letter agencies. You know the NSA's motto: "Your data is our data." They can't realistically read all that data today, but in the future, they may have artificial intelligence that can read it all, synthesize it, make connections, and tell the authorities more than you could possibly imagine.
I recently had Facebook prompt me to add a business associate as a "Facebook Friend".
I discussed with him the matter of how Facebook could have known that we know each other. I never used Facebook to communicate with him in any way, nor did I view his profile, and he says that he never even viewed my profile. We can only guess that the Facebook app on his phone (which I steadfastly refuse to install on mine) scraped my phone number from his contacts list and then Facebook somehow matched it up with my name.
Sad to say, that's exactly what I would expect them to do.
I don't know about Florida, but state laws in the US typically prohibit possession of guns wherever alcohol is served, so the perp probably thought he was attacking a soft target.
The logical end result is that they eventually put these hooks in the hardware so that there is literally no escape unless you can make your own hardware. I can't help but wonder if they're doing this under serious duress; the exposure has been awful for them as far as I can see.
They've already tried to take your guns away by twisting the Constitution. IIRC, the judges on the Supreme Court who tried to uphold gun restrictions wrote in their dissenting opinion something along the lines of "The writers of the Constitution never intended to deprive the government of the tools they need to do their job". In other words, it was like they wanted to declare the Constitution unconstitutional.
Another.net developer here. I feel exactly the same way you do. I refuse to upgrade to Win10 and I don't know what I'm going to do when Win8 finally reaches EOL and there aren't drivers for it.
I know that Google will find you a list of Windows Updates to avoid, but you will know for sure if you run a free tool called "Fiddler" that is meant to be used to debug web applications. It will log all those calls to Microsoft's telemetry servers. Many of them begin with vortex.data.microsoft.com
Exactly. I've been reading some parenting books by William Sears, and although he is renown as a pediatrician, I was quite surprised at how he was clearly swept up in the moral panics of the 90s. I read his "Discipline Book" that was written during that time and though I agree with a lot of his advice, he totally took the violent movies, violent games, and even rock music moral panics seriously. He was very concerned about the impact that violence in media would have on his eight(!) children. He even wrote about the time one of his children snuck out to a rock concert against his wishes. Damn, and he was bothered by "Beavis and Butt-Head". He said that he was relieved when he found out that Butt-Head means "imbecile". Uh, hey Beavis, someone should tell that doctor that three of his kids grew up to be doctors, too, in spite of Beavis and Butt-Head./rant
I can't say that my life is ruined because of Obamacare, but I can sure as hell tell you that my healthcare costs are outrageous. I am self-employed, and until recently, was paying nearly $700 per month to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for a plan with a $4000 per person deductible for my family of three. That's right: I have to pay over $12,000 in premiums and deductibles before Blue Cross will cover a single cent (except for "preventative care") and they reject half my claims to even count toward the deductible.
I finally decided to hell with them, I wasn't going to pay it any more.
If the goal of the ACA was to make health care affordable, they failed miserably.
Thank you for taking the time to write to my office. I always appreciate engaged subjects taking a role in the democratic process.
Please rest assured that this agreement has been properly scrutinized by those who have the proper need to know. Rest assured that TPP is in the best interests of the people who matter.
We do understand that we have concerns, but we really don't care. Why? Because FUCK YOU, that's why!
I know you're trolling, but... In 2014, I had the chance to vote in a new US Senator. My then current senator was a big supporter of everything that President Barack Obama advocates. Almost immediately, the new Senator that I voted for declared his support for giving Barack Obama the TPA authority he wanted to shove TPP down our throats. I called his office to express my displeasure.
Trump has promised that as President, he will have Snowden extradited and prosecuted.
Try Googling "pico-itx". You'll find some cool stuff, but it may be a while before you can make one battery powered and with a touch-screen.
Unless you live in one of the many jurisdictions where it is a crime to record someone without their consent. Then, you will go to jail.

Yet another reason I will never install their "Messenger" app on my phone
Yes, they do. I have sat right next to people who live in work yourself to death Murica.
But does NetCraft confirm it?

If she gets a second term, perhaps it will be in jail, rather than in office!
In Texas, bars prominently post a sign indicating the 51%. https://firingpins.wordpress.c...

We got a foot of snow in May last year in Denver. And up in the mountains, skiing in July is not unheard of.

Now shut up and go back to sleep.

Why did I even bother voting?
