You don't have to pay for updates to the OS- but each major revision like OS X 10.3, OS X 10.4 costs $129.00.
They keep you up-to-date with the version of the OS your computer comes with.
I didn't hear Jobs announce a q2 release- he just said the first half of 2005.... not a very solid release date and could perhaps mean sometime this summer.
Watch those PC prices go up for a little bit... then potentially drop- but ATI and Nvidia would be smart to cash in on this-- maybe bundle Longhorn with video-cards and extra ram.
I'd suggest you get a Dual G5 iMac- At first you are going to say that this machine is total overkill... ...The beauty of this machine is it can cool and heat the shed with it's massive heat production, and insane amount of fans.
Or they would just use them on the Saudi's, their own people, or american soldiers- delivered by hand, dropped from a plane, or any number of creative and cheap ways. They may not be as devastating, but they would still be extremely effective.
America will not invade Iran because they have nuclear weapons and I think GW kinda likes how things are working over there- Adding a religious element to American politics seems to be working for him.
I agree with you-- but Steve is a good speaker- when you listen to him you want his products... I was a windows user and after listening to him over the years I was sold.

...what ever happened to that tradition where men would get married to women, then "go out for milk" to sleep with other men. Or the traditional family value of basically owning your wife and children... People miss "teaching others lessons" in the family. If you pull back that blind nostalgia those traditional family values are no different than the ethics of Victorian England.... most of the time they were all a facade. As intelligent people we should challenge tradition instead of complacently accepting that as good.
The same is true for capitalism and democracy-- the two don't go very well together, which is one reason America has the electoral college... the founding fathers weren't really excited by the idea of rule by the poor-- interestingly enough China seems to be doing really with their "social-democracy" and capitalism- exploiting people and the environment like the good ole days... that's the key to capitalism.
I cannot speak for the other search tools- but I can't say I am really too impressed with Google's desktop search. My problem was it was fairly limited in what it can search, although I am guessing it is the pet project of an engineer at Google- and that it will probably be expanded over time.

well I have to admit my original post was meant to be funny- Steve Jobs is known for his tyrannical rule of Apple. It is a good thing, but also a bad thing (if you happen to work for him).

Bad logic- they don't distribute pirated software no matter how bold you make it. Their users do.
SO that's why I never get that second date ... damn
I'm holding out for a 6 blade razor with vibration.
Keeping women from going mental has been the best invention of the century.
