Of course he's not. I doubt he's even seen one other than at Google images.
I am more than pleased with my 50" Seiki. It's been a great monitor so far, even with the 30Hz limitation. And I still have $2200 in my pocket to save up for the next batch that will do 60Hz via whatever input standard they settle on, whether it's Display Port MST or the new HDMI standard
I used a single reference 7970 for a week before I went Crossfire and only went crossfire then because I was under the impression that it may be possible to run 2 HDMI cables to the Seiki to enable 60Hz.
Initially I had 2 7970s in Crossfire and it was fine, but I wanted more so I got a pair of Titans.
Performance-wise, the 7970s were fine at native resolution when using lower levels of AA. I scored a little over 2400 in Uningine Heaven using High settings with 2xAA. It was only when I tried Extreme HD that the cards came up to their framebuffer limit...That doesn't happen with the Titans though
Yeah. I got one of the first batch and am pleased as punch with it so far. (even with the 30Hz limit at 3840x2160)
Colors are great, black levels are better than my samsung LCD TV. There's so little backlight "bleed" that it took a really long time for me to even notice it existed at all. My Samsung has such inconsistent backlighting with so many dark/light spots on it that looks like one of the damn all metal maps from Total Annihilation...
I used to have a triple U2410 Eyefinity display and I got sick of all the energy usage and bezels so I upgraded to a U3011.
Fast forward 2 years and I was frustrated nearly to the point of pulling out my hair because I just didn't have the screen real estate I needed...
I got the Seiki 50" at the beginning of May and I swear to god it was the best "monitor" purchase I've made in 15 years.
I can have/. open at what would be full screen on the U2410 and still be watching a BluRay in a ~39" window next to it. -or- have 3 large Excel spreadsheets open while my Access database is open -or- game for hours on end at RFH Resolution (RFH = Really Frikkin High)
I know it's not capable of 60Hz. I don't care. I don't notice it AT. ALL. in the games I play.
Considering the unit is now less than $1000 on eBay and they just released a 39" for $600, I think the migration to 4k2k will go faster than people realize.
I even like it for the gaming I do (mainly Skyrim, Neverwinter, PoE, etc)
I use Make MKV to rip the BluRay and store the file (25-35GB) either on a share on one of my Windows boxes, or on an SDXC Card on my Pi's hub itself. I have a pair of 128GB Lexar SDXC Cards, a pair of 64GB SDXC Cards, and a pair of 32GB MicroSDHC cards in usb adapters for my Pi.
My Pi has 5 internal USB 2.0 ports and 9 external USB 2.0 ports so I can plug in quite a bit of storage in the form of SDXC Cards and USB Sticks.
The Power Supply was the number one problem I read about at the forums when I received mine. Make sure you have a good one.

Find a good powered USB hub and use it to power the Pi. I've used the 7 port MacAlly hub to power my Pi with no problems, as well as the USB 3.0 ports on the Manhattan Mondo Hub. I've also powered my Pi from my Samsung HD LED LCD TV's USB Port without issue for several weeks with no apparent problems.
If speed is absolutely essential, you may want to install your distro of choice to USB Stick
NEVER rush to the latest version of XBMC for Pi. There are always issues to work through...
When I first got mine I spent so much time tinkering with it I didn't really have time to "enjoy" it.
Then I bought 2 more (512MB ones) and now I can tinker with the 256MB one while I enjoy using and showing off the 512MB ones.
Here's why at best it's neutral and, at worst, it hurts them badly...
Apple claims it is irreparably harmed and nothing short of a permanent injunction can make up for infringing its patents, however...
"If" Apple licensed the same patents in question to HTC, (for monetary gains) then Samsung should, by law, be allowed to pay licensing fees instead of suffering from a permanent injunction.
In essence, "Throw an equitable amount of money at Apple" becomes the solution to the Samsung case, -not- a permanent injunction to prevent Samsung from ever selling an infringing item.
They generally have better prices or, if not "the" lowest prices, they have better shipping options. Combine that with the lack of Sales Tax collected in the state I live in and the argument can be fairly made that you'd be dumb to go anywhere else.
They've been great for me and have helped me save much over the last year or so just in shipping costs. Places like Newegg are adapting and "trying" to match Amazon but, at least in Newegg's case, they seem to be failing.
Granted, I did go a bit overboard in the powered USB Hub department, what with 28 ports and all, but it almost fit within the confines of a 32x32 lego plate
I tried to order a Seagate Barracuda SATA 6GB 3TB Drive and Newegg and they wanted $400. I ended up buying two Seagate Expansion USB 2.0 3TB Drives for $199 each and I removed the Seagate Barracuda SATA 6GB 3TB Drives from the enclosures and saved $400 on my total order.

If it's good enough for SCO, it's good to go.

No. I don't, actually.

You do have mod points...it's just taking time for them to show up because you're throttled...
Adobe is gonna get jealous.

My Pi runs XBMC fine and plays my BluRay Rips without stutter with 5.1 Audio. I believe it's limited to 5.1 though...
I admit I'm biased but I prefer the Pi over the Android dongles.
It just seems like there's more of a fun factor in making a Pi-based system than just plugging in a dongle-type system.
At least with the Pi I get to play with legos

Count much?
(1) internal SATA 6GB Seagate Barracuda costs $400
(2) External SATA 6GB Seagate Barracudas in USB 2.0 enclosure cost, $399.99
