I played it today at EB. Thoroughly unimpressed. The pointer part jiggles about and is actually kind of hard to use even just in the menu (and the lag is very noticable and pretty severe), they didn't have a pointer-based game to demo. The dpad and A button are too far up the remote and makes it uncomfortable to use since the A button is under the tip of the thumb and the dpad is a bit of a reach. The game they had playing was Excite Truck and while it's kind of fun to play for a few minutes it feels like a gimmick, and one that doesn't even work that well. It takes way too much concentration to control and becomes tiring very quickly, not to mention that it feels completely unnatural since you're tilting the controller to the sides instead of turning it. You can't even tilt the controller back to put less straight on your hands because it uses forward and backward tilts to control pitch in the air.
All I can say is that I'm really glad Nintendo decided to charge too much for the system and controllers because otherwise I might have still been interested in the thing and pre-ordered one. It might work somewhat reasonably at some point, but from what I've seen it ain't there yet. If "playing = believing" the only thing I believe is that Wii will be hitting the bargain bin before next christmas.
I think it's more because greedy and incompetent people are more likely to be driven to do what it takes to succeed in such positions and competent but not greedy people are less likely to because they aren't incented by greed. Same reason you end up with so many crooks and frauds in politics.
"RRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDGGGGGGEEEEEEEE RAAAAAAAAAACCCCCEEEEEEERRRRRRR!!!!!!!" is not a "slick marketing campaign". While I don't personally like the ipod ads they seem to work on a lot of people. To say that ipod has succeeded for any reason other than the marketing is absurd. It's over-priced, feature-lacking, and the interface (yes fanboys, the interface) is pretty clunky. They also look reasonably ridiculous.
I was actually thinking right when I posted that I should check to see if they had released it today. Just my kind of luck to say something like that the same day as they release it!
Except that with microsoft it's ALWAYS about the "brand/system politics." xbox is an attempt to spread the windows monopoly into the living room and lock users into inferior systems with inferior interfaces forever.
There isn't much to play on xbox (halo blows, get over it), but all things being equal it's definitely my favorite system to play sports games on, especially Winning Eleven and the new Fifa 07, that plays almost as well but has much nicer presentation and a lot more clubs and leagues.
If the xbox division of microsoft were spun off into its own company there wouldn't be a problem, but as long as it is solely a tool for expanding the windows monopoly "brand/system politics" is inseparable from just about any discussion of the system. It isn't just another console that loses a billion dollars a year and has half a dozen good games among mountains of crap.
Oh, and the 360 controller is garbage, despite what everyone says. The Type-S controller is way better, even with the annoyingly placed black and white buttons.
On topic, I hated Jet Grind Radio. The controls were garbage and the characters and "style" got annoying after about 3 minutes.
It certainly does when they kill people who aren't actually guilty. You're a pretty wretched excuse for a human being if you think we should continue executing people when they're killing people who are innocent. Not to mention the significantly higher cost of actually getting someone to execution and doing the deed over life in prison or that the death penalty is completely pointless since it neither brings back those who were killed nor does it deter those who would do murder. As a punishment, which an enlightened society should be well beyond, it fails miserably.
So you're right, the state isn't "just as bad" as a murderer for executing them. It's diminishes all of us, not just the murderer.
Furthermore, hating the actions of the Israeli government and military isn't the same as hating Israelis or Jews in general. It's pure propaganda to claim otherwise.
I don't like the ipod because it's ugly (like white ear buds), the click wheel thing annoys me, it's severely feature-lacking, and it's over-priced. The fact that it's popular just makes me sad for the current state of humanity.
Cowon iAudio A2 or its successor.

I can't listen to MP3 anymore. The sound is too hollow and flat. DRM isn't even an option, that crap doesn't play on Linux anyway.

Would it also apply to a "Dutch wife"?
I can't speak for 3-blades, but 4 has been noticably better than 2.
Seems pretty good so far performance-wise. I'm just happy that video doesn't appear to be desyncing!

Agreed. And after superior interface, ease of operation, and fun it's one of the reasons I run Linux.
Or anyone with the sense and good taste to run Linux.

Or maybe apple shouldn't be shipping random crap on their hardware either way?
They're more of a person than you are, which is exactly what I said. Stop trying to argue with me by agreeing, it makes you look foolish.
Corporations aren't people and shouldn't be able to own anything. They're legally more of a person than you are now, and that's fucked up.
No one cares about your whiny mac problems. Just shut the fuck up and wait for the wambulance!
I'm mute, those insensitive clods!
It costs even more to execute them.

Good move on Nintendo's part, sure. Too bad they blew it with their idiotic pricing model. Particularly with the controllers.
By being told it on TV throw "hip" advertising campaigns?

Most proprietary software I've used on Linux uses Mo/Lesstif, which looks uglier but works better. But I guess the principle is the same.
And 100% of the 45-year-old+ crowd still lives in their mom's basement.
