SURE! Just like every judicial entity shares the wealth of all those fines they impose. Where DOES all that money go? It doesn't seem to get reported anywhere, does it?
Funny we are always aghast when it's reported law enforcement goes on a ticket writing spree to generate funds, but we don't seem to monitor the ultimate destination of the legal profession's extortion methods. Maybe it's the fear of legal action and 'fines'.:-)
Pretty bizarre that CA's attorneys didn't catch this before they signed off on it. It's actually hard to believe they weren't aware of it. That settlement had to have a lot of scrutiny fron CA's attorneys.
I actually bought into their InnoculateIT several years ago, again, since it advertised Windows/Linux/Mac compatibility. The system was advertised as being able to manage all my Linux and Windows systems from a Linux server.
The Windows version choked the start menu. I actually held the Start menu open on as server once out of disgust and frustration, thinking it would have to work eventually. Had to force/reboot the server. The Linux side was complete crap and the Mac version looked like it was MacOS7.x version. The only virus it could detect in MacOS 9.x was the test one included with it.
Very good! The most intelligent response I've read so far today. It will be interesting to see if anyone picks up on this. It certainly illustrates a fallacy. Their business model relies on the hard work and creative talent of Linux developers, yet they make no effort to support Linux, beyond their Red Hat licenses. I hope this point gets legs.
A disappointing development, if indeed true. Our corporate overlord is not offering to do anything to support the main thrust of MSOffice alternatives by the open source community with this statement.
It doesn't surpise me, and I'm not comfortable with IBM's ultimate designs for Linux, but I would have thought they would have handeled this information release a bit better.
I rather strive to be be a part of the goal of developing a true alternative than, 'gasp', put the bloat and problems of MSOffice on my Linux system. That is ultimately against the whole point. Porting MSOffice to Linux is not going to be a sustainable model. Unbelievable. I can't even imagine the logic to potential conversions.
The longer I type the more asinine this seems. I feel 'anger.':-)
"With the open source community, there are a large percentage of tinkers and 'ankle biters' who are trying their hand at hacking. Some are even communicating with each other. So it only takes one or two of these groups sharing information to be able to pull something off. When you have this type of passion, it's hard to fight because these people are like virtual suicide car bombers."
I've sent more PowerBooks in for service than I care to remember. The first 17" powerbook we got came with a defective mother board out of the box. Took another 2 weeks to get it replaced/returned. I would feel much better with the whole Apple thing if they had some on-site service/next-day Dell thing for $150.00 for three years.
The last iBook I was asked to replace a hard drive on, had 40+ steps to get to the drive, and several of those, 'Be careful here, you could permanently damage the case...'...pass...
The systems are premium priced, it would be less painful if the service didn't involve shipping or, 'GULP' going to the 'Genius Bar.'
Just the labor to back-up/restore, and listen to the 'What's the word on my laptop?' nagging...
Thankfully, our president isn't going to let a little dotcom bust rain on his buddies parade of wealth. We have TAX DOLLARS! Line up BOYS!
Boys and girls, someday, YOU will get to go into space, yesiree! You just wait! Big shiny stars, happy, happy. Keep paying those taxes, and we'll be just fine....
Can't help getting a chuckle out of this, but disappointed that all those iPods will be contributing a lot of additional toxic waste to our landfills. Guess it isn't chic for Apple to have a disposal plan.
"I sacrificed a db of gain here by not turning it over, mostly because I'm mounting it on a vent pipe, and didn't want to put that kind of wind load on it. As mentioned above I don't really need the extra signal either."
Wonder if he realizes what that vent pipe is for? Are there any studies on the interference factor from 'methane gas' emmisions on WI-FI?

WMP?! 'Weapons of Mass Production'
They should all be banned!
...in serving clueless end users. The more clueless the better.
I also like to bang my head against brick walls until I see stars.
You corrupt, self-serving, MPAA tool. How much money will you get from your corporate overlords on this one, scumbag?
I wonder how many other states AD's will be lining up for freebies as well?
We truly are a nation of whores. Gotta love MSWord noobs.
Will this affect my dazzling karma?
'smacks forehead' I finally understand SCO's position! 'begins reformatting Linux boxes for Microsoft deployment'
How could we be so insensitive!

Tonight on Fox!
This security breach wouldn't have occurred had Microsoft not released a patch for Word previously...No one would have figured this out otherwise. :-)

License this CA
Otherwise the judge will have to grant SCO an additionl chunk of 45 days to spread even more FUD. 'I'm warning you! I REALLY mean it this time....'

Can we add:
"Microsoft mouthpiece approved"

You've never worked with 'my' end users. Why worry when you can just beat the 'ITguy' dog about it.

Sad.
Great grouping! Three good laughs in a row! You'll be tracked to the hills by satellite, though, and reassimilated into the collective...
Hilarious! A bag of leftover, unused hardware was later dug up nearby....

Maybe it's just the bathtub/sink vent.
Try and SCO this, biotch!
Perhaps Bill and Steve should should try passing out Linux CD's to eager young children on the steps of some library. Symbolic 'dimes' so to speak.
